Authentic Adirondack adventure

Fashioned after the Adirondack Great Camps, our home features many elements of a more authentic Adirondack lodging. Rustic furniture, beds and railings make this two bedroom home a cozy retreat for 2-5 people. Situated on an 80 acre property, with 4500 feet of river frontage you can enjoy trout fishing, hiking, mountain biking, on our private trails, or just siting back and enjoying the cascading falls from our forward facing screened in porch. In season enjoy swimming in our private swimming hole as the crystal clear waters of our trout brook surround you with delight.

We have owned this property for 20 years and now with our children grown we would like to share this with others who love and appreciate the secluded, wilderness experience of an especially beautiful property here in the Eastern Adirondack region. We are located approximately 1/2 hour north of Lake George Village and a ten minute drive off the Northway.

The house is kept clean and tidy. You will always be greeted with fresh linens and towels. The bathroom and kitchen will provide for most essentials, tissues, toilet paper, bottled water and many other thoughtful touches to make your stay comfortable.

This property is rustic. Staying at Mill Rock Clove is an authentic Adirondack experience. We are NOT the Ritz Carlton and there is nothing fancy about it. Spaces are small and cozy. Much of the furniture is made by local artists using wood from our forests. The purpose of vacationing here is to rejuvenate your spirit, mind and body. It's about being in one of the most beautiful spots on the planet and absorbing the magical energy that is ever present. The property is on the site of a 19th century grist mill, and was a spiritual center for native Americans before that.

We are privileged to have spent a great deal of time on the property and honored to share it with others. We also realize that not every one will appreciate what is on offer here. If you are looking for perfect weather or a 5 star Ritz Carlton experience please look elsewhere. There is also very little night life in the area, unless you drive 30 minutes south to Lake George. The local restaurants are generally good, but modest in standards. Supermarkets are available within a 15 minute drive.

This is a vacation for people who understand what having an authentic experience in nature is all about. Much more comfortable than camping, and yet we strive to bring the beauty of the outdoors inside with large glass viewing areas, a comfortable spacious screen porch and original rustic furniture fashioned from local trees. The master bed is adorned by a large Birch Wood canopy which feels like you are sleeping in a forest grove. With a large oversized queen mattress good restful sleep after a day in the outdoors is hard to resist. Spend your days walking through our 80 acre private forest with 2 miles of private walking trails. In season relax in the stream and play in our private swimming hole. Fire wood is provided for both indoor and outdoor fire places.

This beautiful home right on the clear brook was so peaceful. My husband enjoyed walking the brook to fish. Home was very cozy and clean. Will return!

Peaceful Beautiful Setting
We had a great time enjoying the beautiful scenery surrounding this Adirondack cabin. The view of the river from the screened in porch is spectacular! Lots to do in nearby Lake George but you might not want to leave this peaceful retreat!

We had a beautiful view, quiet surroundings and an appreciated screened in porch. We enjoyed the decor in the cabin. Place was clean and everything worked as described. Will return if possible.

Wonderful Stay
We spent 10 nights here. Great views and sounds from the creek. The screened porch was a favorite, and the privateness was much needed. For anyone skeptical of this property it does not disappoint and the pictures do not do it justice. We would love to stay here again. Thank you Kurt for the awesome vacation!

Heaven in the Dax!
We had a wonderful time. The pictures do not do the place justice. What a wonderful, rustic and perfect cabin in the woods. We are grateful for the experience and the opportunity to completely disconnect, breathe the mountain air and doze by being lulled by the melody of the creek and crashing waterfalls. We look forward to coming back again soon!

Amazing property!
We had a great time at this cabin! We explored, played, and watched the brook. The view from the screen-in porch was breathtaking - we could have sat on the swing for days on end without complaint! We even got to meet Smokey, the friendliest neighborhood dog. The snow and the dog were definitely the highlight for our kids! It was the perfect location for a quick getaway. We can't wait to visit again.

Summer vacation with family
The property is charming, the house has a history, and you can imagine the beautiful winters and summers the owners spent there with their family. Unfortunately, our staying was affected by bad weather, almost 11 days out of 14 of rain. In addition, many mosquitos made it impossible to enjoy the property entirely.

One of a kind private setting!
The River View was spectacular and this is a completely private setting. The setting really was one-of-a-kind!!!! The residence is much like a camp rather than a house but we were more than ok with that! I enjoyed fishing 2 days on Schroon Lake. Easy boat or kayak access from the southern end of the lake is about 8 minutes from the house. We had a fire on an incredible scenic spot at the river bend in front of the house one night.

Beautiful spot
We had a fantastic time during our stay. The creek-front yard and screened in porch were beautiful. The listing description says "this isn't the Ritz", but I bet the Ritz would pay a lot of money for this property! We spent a lot of time on the rocks and walking the trails. Inside, the combined living room/dining room was much larger than expected, and was open to kitchen and the porch. Decor isn't modern, but we wanted an Adirondack style cabin anyway, so this house was perfect. Location is great too-close drives to Loon lake, Schroon lake, and Lake George. Little bit further up to Lake Placid and Whiteface area but still easy and beautiful. We would definitely stay here again

A Lovely Getaway
If you like the outdoors you will love this diamond in the rough. We sat on the screened in porch for hours swinging on the cozy swing, reading, watching the momma Phoebe feed her babies in the nest above our heads, listening to the river flow. It was just what we needed. We spent time on Trout Brook, I played in the water, my husband tried to catch fish, we made a fire and sat by the stream. Private and quiet. The bed was comfy. Thank you for opening your home to us!

Serene relaxation
I loved the porch sitting in the air chair listening to the creek was so relaxing. It was very private and serene. The swimming hole was my husbands favorite, he swam everyday. Went white water rafting on the Hudson River with Square Eddy in North Creek. So much fun! The house was perfect for us. Thanks for sharing it with us - I can tell you have made many memories there.

Magical camp on a beautiful stream
Family of three including 2 year old and our dog spent a week in the summer. The whole setup is as advertised with a lot of fun extras - loads of outdoor toys for the kids, beach chairs, kayaks, etc to use. The swimming hole is amazing and great private trails. It gets buggy in the summer so the screened in porch is a life saver. Kurt was quick to respond to questions via text and through the app. Public beach at Schroon lake is close by, for restaurants check out Sticks and Stones.

Nice place to visit. However, owner should leave instructions on how to operate TV for those unfamiliar with Dish, FireTV, or Smart TV. Not sure which network to log onto. TV doesn't just turn on and able you to flip channels. Also, owner should give directions to find swimming hole. Lastly, best places to eat are Sticks and Stones, and Owl at Twilight.

very private and relaxing spot
This is a beautiful and private piece of property that is well-situated near the town of Schroon Lake (about 20 minutes away). The river is so soothing and the screened in porch is a delightful place to enjoy it. We also spent many nights at the fire pit star gazing. The host, Kurt, was very responsive to my questions and concerns, usually responding within less than 2 hours. We were worried about the recent flooding in the area and he assuaged our concerns. We came back from this vacation feeling relaxed and ready to re-engage with urban life. My only suggestion would be to have a proper garbage can outside the house so guests don't have to store the garbage in the basement. This is why I am giving the 3 stars for cleanliness. Otherwise, we had a most wonderful time here!

nice outside TERRIBLE inside
As soon as the door was opened I realized why there was no photos of the inside. The main bathroom looked like a old gas station restroom. The drain shower was so plugged up I had to travel 20 miles to the town of North Creek for drain opener. The kitchen/cook area was so clutter it was useless. After 3 days of a 5 day stay my wife and I left. I have used VRBO for quite a few rentals. We rely on them for cleanliness and a comfortable place to vacation. This was one place I will never return to and question my relying on VRBO

Don't be fooled by pictures and reviews!
I have never commented on a property that I've stayed in, but in this case I felt I had an obligation to my fellow travelers. Please do not be deceived by the posted reviews and pictures...this listing is not what it seems. I will agree that the property that the house sits on is absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately, that is the only positive statement that can be made about this listing. The dirty cushions on moldy lawn furniture, the broken storm door at the entrance to the house and the musty, smelly unusable lower level, set the standard for the rest of the house. This house has been neglected for years. Except for a refrigerator and range that have been purchased in the last 10+ years, the rest of the house is decades old. The kitchen is poorly cleaned and poorly stocked, the bed linens are old and frayed, the living room furniture is uncomfortable, and the lighting throughout the house is horrible. To make matters worse, in an attempt to portray the house as an Adirondack cabin, the house is "decorated" with "stuff", covering pretty much every corner and flat surface. Not only is this a nuisance for a guest trying to get comfortable, in many instances the "decorations" create hazardous conditions (especially for young children). A traveler may be able to overlook some or all of these inadequacies, but having done my share of traveling, the one thing that I don't think any traveler can accept is a gross bathroom. The main bathroom is 1960-1970 vintage, with damaged wallboard surrounding the tub, moldy and encrusted tub caulking, crusty bathtubs knobs, and poorly cleaned. To me this was the final straw! Initially, there was pushback from the owner upon hearing my grievances about his property. However, after being presented with picture proof, he admitted that he didn't get up there often, stated that he would have some of the issues "corrected", and also agreed to refund me one nights stay. It is a shame that an owner is so quick to take the hard earned vacation dollars from their quests, with little to no concern for their comfort.

ADK Cabin
We enjoyed our weekend on the creek. The view and access to the creek were excellent. Loved having a piece of property where we could bring our dog. It’s definitely a cabin with modern amenities like air conditioning and WiFi. Was very clean and tidy when we arrived. We would have appreciated knowing what were accessible parts of the property/the hiking trail to be marked but we did plenty of exploring. Be aware that would have to carry out your trash with you, wasn’t an issue with so many camp sites in the area, but worth noting. Thanks so much for a relaxing weekend!

Nice with mice
The venue was idyllic – wooded, beautiful water view. The owner was most responsive in sending the caretaker to hook up the generator when the power went out due to severe storms in the area. The caretaker was also quick to respond to place mouse traps in the house. The mice found their way onto the beds, on the pillows and into my hair. Traps captured some of the mice but did nothing for the scurrying of the critters in the walls or the daily clean-up of mice feces throughout the upper level of the house. Other issues of lesser importance but important none the less: A good number of dishes and glasses in the cupboards were covered with an oily film and dust …. Not ready to be used by guests The water pressure in the shower was awful The hammock under the deck is in serious disrepair. The nylon tabs holding the support rings are rotting and broke upon sitting in the hammock. The smell of mold and dampness on the lower level is profound. I realized and accepted that the cabin is not the Ritz Carlton, that it was in a wooded, rural area. What I could not accept were the mice.
