My horrible experience is too long to fit into this box. So many things went wrong during our “stay.” I’ll list as much as I can.
• The pictures are not accurate.
• Patio is COVERED in ants.
• The owner lives right next door with her dog, so you basically have coffee with them in the morning. They walk by constantly all day.
• The “private dock” that’s pictured is not the dock we were given to use. We brought a boat and couldn’t even leave it in the water because the dock was so old and unreliable.
• The “private ramp” was barely useable. The owner and some employees even came out to watch us launch our boat and took pictures to show future renters that it’s doable. Unless you have a 4x4 and are VERY experienced, it’s not doable. Even then, it was VERY difficult. The water is too low, and the algae was disgusting. I asked before our trip about these conditions and was told it was fine. Lies. The owner also lied to me about a refund. I contacted her 17 days before our trip to inquire about the algae. She said the water was fine, and I was not eligible for a refund.
• The water coming out of the faucets was yellow. When we let the owner know, she said she had noticed that a few days ago. Why weren’t we told?! Someone got stomach issues from it in our group. She contacted the county, and they said it’s “safe to drink.” It wasn’t. Even her own employee told us he doesn’t drink the water, and he lives onsite!
• The air conditioning broke. It was 85 degrees in the house. They worked on it for four hours on our FIRST DAY. After it wouldn’t turn back on, they installed a loud unit in the kitchen window, attempted to put another in the master bedroom window, but it didn’t work.
• I let them know we wanted to leave in the morning and get a full refund. After texting the owner back and forth, one of the owner’s employees came over and argued with me, mocked me, and even laughed at me when I told him that’s what we wanted. It was unbelievable. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER. The owner finally agreed to a full refund, and we were out by 9:30 the next morning. We left three days early.
• After we left, the owner was impossible to get ahold of again. She ignored my texts and calls. She ended up charging me a cleaning fee, which wasn’t what we agreed on. She said “it was more than fair” in her email she sent me about a week after our stay. VRBO was NO help in getting my money back. We still ended up paying over $500 for that miserable trip.
