First, and foremost, the unit was not harbor front and did not have a view. The property description and photos clearly show a harbor front property with great water views, but this is dishonest.
When I contacted the owner about this issue his response was as follows:
"Im sorry Gary. While I dont guarantee a harbor view I do my best to accommodate all my guests, however I am at the mercy of the management. I have several guests this weekend who have been given inferior units, and one that has to move tomorrow. Unfortunately, once you're checked in there is nothing that I can do."
Not helpful and contrary to the property description.
Secondly, the property is low quality, a step above a Motel 6, maybe equal to a Quality Inn type. Furnishings and finishes are inferior, much like you may find in a cheap roadside motel or dorm room. The fake veneer on some of the cabinet doors was actually peeling off.
We had just come from New York City and Southampton, both higher priced areas that Newport, where we stayed in similarly priced rooms which were INFINITELY better.
I will say that the location along the harbor front is outstanding!
Buyer beware. One can find a much better property in Newport.
