Come relax in our country cottage and have a family or friend getaway! The perfect cottage to enjoy country life while being close to amenities of Blacksburg and the New River Valley.

We have the ideal quiet country cottage with sleeping accommodations for eight (8). The cottage is located in Newport, Virginia – which is 13 miles to the VT drillfield. In our cottage, you will find everything you need to relax and enjoy time with family and friends, including furnishings, large flat screen TVs, comfortable couches, board games, and free Wi-Fi. We just updated all the bedding, added fresh paint, new front porch furniture and new cozy blankets.

Upon arrival, you and your guests will find:
-fresh linen packets in all the bedrooms (trundle bed as well)
-fresh towels for both bathrooms
-toilet paper starter pack
-paper towel starter pack
-kitchen cleaning supplies
-extra blankets, pillows, and towels

The country cottage features:
• 3 bedrooms: 1 queen, 1 queen , a pyramid bed with a double and twin, twin
• 2 full bathrooms: 1 with a shower, 1 with a shower/tub combo
• A full kitchen: Dishwasher, oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer combo, eat-in bar
• Dining room with table seating
• Living room with large leather reclining sofa and TV
• Den area with love seat sofa and recliner with a large flat screen TV
• High top table in the den –great for enjoying the views of the country, playing games, or eating
• Office/laundry area with a full washer and dryer
• Cozy front porch, which overlooks the beautiful Sinking Creek
• New outside sitting area to enjoy the view of the Appalachian mountains
• 5 flat screen TVs
• Dogs allowed. Large fenced area for pets with dog door (prior approval required and additional pet fee applies-2 dogs).

The farm land is still rented, so cattle will be moving around mornings and evenings - making this a true country home. This home is over 60 years old and is comfortable, but older. Heaven on Earth
We enjoyed everything about our trip! Cows walking by early in the morning, the ducks coming by for multiple visits, our dogs running in the back yard. Everyone was happy and there was plenty of spaces to go when you needed a minute alone. We would visit again! Thanks!

Great home base for hiking, perfect for dogs
This was our 4th stay. We love the location - so close to many hiking trails and Va Tech. It is quiet and peaceful; it has beautiful views of the mountains, and it has a wonderful, fenced area for the dogs - and it even has a doggy door that our dogs learned to use. The house has everything we needed. It was clean and comfortable. When we were not out exploring, we spent our time in the sunroom. We hope to visit again next year!

Four adults and 3 teens stayed a couple nights at this cozy and peaceful home. Timely communications with host, well-stocked kitchen and bedrooms, clean furnishings, and plenty of elbow room both inside and (most definitely) outside. Enjoyed the quiet and scenic countryside yet only 15 minutes from Blacksburg - definitely would consider staying here again during our next visit.

Fabulous place to stay!
We love this area and enjoyed our stay ! Our son and his wife and grand daughter and grand dog along with our daughter had a very special time together. We enjoyed hiking the cascades and floating on new river along with Stepping Out in Blacksburg ! We all loved the cows too! A perfect weekend and plan to come back when we can stay longer!!

This was our second stay at the cow house with our sheltie, Bear. I love that it is in the country, but only about 15 min from Blacksburg. We love to watch the cows walk through and drink from the river that runs just by the house. Beautiful views, sweet smells of the countryside, and wonderful accommodations. We will be back!

Beautiful and Relaxing!
Steele Cottage never disappoints! It was beautiful up there and the weather was gorgeous! We took a little walk up the mountain, ran into one of the neighbors and we talked about the land, the pipeline and the history of the cemetery we happened upon. The cottage is always cozy and clean. And, the Hokies won! Great visit!

A Lovely Country House
We went down for our daughter's graduation at VT. We live in Charlottesville and love the countryside and this place was perfect. We found some great BBQ, it's an easy ride back to Blacksburg and there's a country store just down the road. Also, the owners couldn't have been nicer or more responsive. A great experience all around!

Clean old farmhouse with great fenced in backyard and access to little river. Perfect setting for a family get together. House has many settings in door and out for people to play games , talk and laugh. We found everything we needed here. Local produce a few miles away. The setting is spectacular.

Comfy house in beautiful valley
I stayed the weekend with my husband and our good friends. The house was clean, comfy and well equip! It felt like a home away from home. Close enough to Virginia Tech to drive over for a football game, but far enough away from the "college" experience to give us a secluded space. The owners were prompt and easy to get in touch with if needed. Directions for using wifi and check-out were clear. Overall, fantastic stay!

Our second stay at this wonderful place
This was our second visit to Steele Acres. We love that you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere when in actuality you are only 15 minutes from Blacksburg. You are also very close to many great hiking trails. The house was perfect for the two of us plus our 2 dogs. The fenced in area is a huge bonus for us. The place had everything we could want. It was very clean and very comfortable. We loved the sunroom and when we weren't out hiking or exploring Blacksburg, that's where we spent our time. We can't wait to go back.
