Swimming, Hiking, S’mores making Family Adventure Preview 10 min from Sugar MTN

This beautiful cabin is nestled in the heart of the NC Mountains, surrounding by nature. This cabin features a wrap around patio to enjoy the trees, the animals, and the mountain air. The greatest feature of this house is the wood burning large stove in the living room, perfect for the cold mountain nights. This cabin has 2 floors. The second floor has the master bedroom , a bathroom, the kitchen, living room and dinning room. The first floor features a suite. It has the bedroom with a bathroom and a sitting area with a couch and TV. The stairs downstairs are steep, so not great for elderly. Driving on the Linville Land Harbor property , you immediately know you are seeing something special. There are nature displays, a waterfall, a beautiful lake, fishing ponds, and unbelievable landscape throughout from the management as well as the property owners.

Linville is near everything, the closest place is Grandfather Mountain, which boasts hiking, a zoo, a fudge shop, and a suspension bridge for those who dare! In the fall they also have a tour to see the leaves change! Bring your picnic lunch and enjoy the many eating areas along the mountain. Just 7 minutes away is the best waterfall in the area, Linville Falls. Here you can spend an entire day hiking , swimming, and sliding down rocks, while watching Linville's claim to fame, the beautiful upper creek waterfalls. You can also explore Linville Caverns which are underground caves , especially fun for kids. Speaking of kids, Tweetzies Railroad is a huge amusement park and zoo that features train rides with live action Cowboys and Indians, as well as other great live shows, food and shopping. In the same parking lot is High Gravity Adventures. This is a park for ziplining and an amazing rope obstacle course! For water lovers there are plenty of places for whitewater rafting! The area also has many places to horseback ride and an amazing assortment of bike trails. Don't forget while in Linville land Harbor you can golf, fish, play tennis or even play pickle. For the kids there is an amazing game room, with skeet ball, ping-pong tables, air hockey and pinball games. The winter is filled with skiing, skating and tubing. Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain have everything a snow lover wants and is only minutes away! For just tubing , Jonas Ridge Tubing is right around the corner. Of course for a raining day there are plenty of places to shop including a fantastic outlet mall, The Tanger's Outlet Mall, movies in Boone, or the famous Mast General Store.

Watch out!
We did not stay at this property because there was a strong smell of mold/mildew in the downstairs and that presented a safety issue, especially for children who would have had to sleep in the basement. The owner had zero sympathy and would not accept our reason for not staying. She did not offer even a partial refund for any of the rental fees - except for cleaning which wouldn’t have had to be done since we didn’t occupy the unit.

Great Property Manager, Not So Great House
While we appreciated the excellent communication from Michelle and the amazing game and puzzle library for the kids, this was not the house for us. We ended up forfeiting our last two nights and made a last minute change to go to another city for the remainder of our vacation. The main issues were cleanliness and uncomfortable beds.

Bear-y mountain retreat
No, we didn’t see any bears. But they did knock the trash bins over and the inside decor strongly reflects the bear theme. We enjoyed the fireplace during the holidays. Thanks for a nice, clean getaway near the ski slopes.

North Carolina Getaway
We had an excellent stay during our Girls trip to the Land of OZ. It was easy to find and not to far from our destination. Everything we needed was available and supplied by the host. There are plenty of entertainment options from family games, coloring books, books, movies for anyone to enjoy. Everything was labeled and took the guessing out of what switch had to be flipped, or what drawer/cabinet contained. Loved that!! My mother and sister loved the beds and stated they were soft. The stairs going to the bottom are a little steep. The host was easy to communicate with and promptly addressed any and all issues that occurred. Would completely recommend using to anyone who wants a great retreat with all the comforts of home.

Mountain vacay
The general area that the house is located is absolutely beautiful. The pool there was nice and heated. Kids enjoyed it for sure. The communication with the host was on point, in the beginning. The house is nice enough but nothing fancy. There is clearly some upgrading/maintaining that can be done. The house has a strange smell upon arriving. We chaulked it up to being musty due to the mountain environment. We even had to buy a smelly thing for the house. The upstairs bed was terrible. Once you lay in it be prepared to gravitate to the middle. The seating in the living room has a lot to be desired. For a family of 5 there was not enough space for all of us to sit to enjoy family time. Some of us had to sit at the kitchen table just to watch the TV for family movie. Kitchen had some things to cook with but very well used...so you may need to bring your own. The real kicker was several hours after check out and after complying with the entire list of things to do at check out i get a message trying to scam us out of extra money. The message was concerning as i was told that they found trash inside which was not true. I was accused of having additional people staying at the house, again, not true. I was blamed for using the linens in the house which was true as 2 of the beds didnt have sheets/pillow cases on them so clearly i used linens for those beds. I am not sure what the big deal is as they were provided to be used. 100% recommed a different rental.

At the Top
The area is nice and close to several restaurants. We were there for a wedding at the Appalachian View and found all to be very nice even though it rained. Our only concern was the drive up the hill and the parking driveway was a little hard for us to manage especially at night in the rain with the leaves falling hard to see the streets and signs

We came to see fall foliage leaf colors and were not disappointed. The area was in full color change during our stay. The house was well equipped with all we needed. We stayed in the upstairs level. The downstairs would be great for children (there are also games and puzzles suited for children).
