No. 2 High St is a characterful and deceptively spacious mid-Victorian town house, nestled in the heart of Newent, which is a lovely little market town on the edge of The Forest of Dean.
When it’s not let out, it’s our holiday home, and we’ve furnished and equipped it as such, with lots of extras from an air fryer to an Xbox.
The house itself dates from 1840 and was a shop until the early 2010s. It retains various original features, yet was thoughtfully converted to a private residence.
As you enter the property there is a small entrance hall with a shoe rack and coat hooks; this leads to the living room, which has a high celling and a large Victorian sash window and features two large sofas, one of which converts to a double sofa bed.
Behind the living room is the extensively equipped kitchen. The kitchen table is normally configured for 6 persons, however it can be easily extended to seat 8, with two folding chairs from the adjoining utility room. The tumble dryer is in the utility room.
The courtyard garden, which is a lovely sun trap in the afternoon and features garden furniture and a BBQ, is accessible from the kitchen. Please feel free to wheel bicycles through the house to leave in the fully enclosed courtyard.
Up the first flight of stairs is the main bathroom and the very large master bedroom, which features a king-size bed. It has two very large Victorian sash windows, which face out over the High Street.
Up the second flight of stairs is the double room, and twin room, where the Xbox is located.
The twin room has a small en-suite bathroom with a shower, toilet and basin.
Please note, our property isn’t suitable for those who can’t manage stairs.
