I would like to debunk a couple of the previous reviews for this place.
First and foremost, IT WAS CLEAN and there were no bed bugs! This of course, was a concern of mine before heading out so I contacted the host. He was quick and detailed with his response and assurances. The apartment was clean upon our arrival so if there was an issue in the past it has been addressed and resolved.
Secondly to address the noise complaints. It's New York, in Hells Kitchen, you can't expect it to be absolutely quite. One of the bedrooms is on the main street, so yeah, there is going to be noise. There is a box of ear plugs in the bathroom to help, so the host is doing what they can to help in that regard. The apartment is on the first floor and shares a wall with the main entrance to the building, so when some one entered or left the building you heard the doors close. Again, we are guests in a building where people are living their lives, you can't blame the host for that.
The apartment is excellently located within walking distance to the subway, Central Park, and other New York sites. It is everything we needed for a successful trip. It's a great value for the price.
