While the property was very lovely in itself, the hotel was a bit of a chaotic mess with staff. Upon arrival, we were told that they did not have our room (premier double bed). We were then offered a room with no windows and a single bed with a roll away cot. When we stated that this wasn’t an acceptable alternative, we were then placed in an upgraded room with a single bed and a pull out couch, only to be told it was “too big of an upgrade and would need to move.” Upon refusal, we were told to just stay. We wound up booking directly with the hotel after a terrible event took place in the city so that we could extend our stay without moving rooms, and we then paid full price for the room that we were in, which was completely acceptable. Front desk staff, Julius, who identified himself to my husband as a manager, was less than courteous during checkout and clearly didn’t enjoy discussing room charges with us after the fact. He gave us matter of fact explanations, some of which were incorrect, about our charges and seemed annoyed to deal with us. Overall, the hotel was very beautifully designed, but staff could use some training on customer service and peak rental management. If you are staying for a large event in New Orleans, perhaps consider leaning on a more established accommodation. It really seems that they are working the kinks out. They did refund the daily amenity fee, which we were appreciative of.
