New Orleans Coastal Retreat

Located just 20 miles from the heart of the French Quarter on Historic Lake Catherine Island, this coastal retreat has it all. Enjoy the coastal breezes while on the elevated sun deck, screen porch, boat dock or private fishing pier. This Lake Home is well appointed with a completely stocked kitchen (4 different coffee makers!) and high-quality linens. We even provide the following: 6 fishing rods and tackle, crab traps, crab nets, ice chests, boiling equipment, canoe with paddles, 12 ft. johnboat, 2 inflatable/rigid stand-up paddleboards (SUP), and life jackets of all sizes. Bring your boat and dock in the private protected canal or book a charter and they can pick you up on the dock. Fish at night under the dock lights and use the wheeled wagon for hauling in your catch and freezing your filets in our dedicated fish freezer prior to your return. This place has it all! If you miss the magnificent sunrise in front, be sure to catch it set on the west side over Lake Pontchartrain. The perfect retreat for family and friends. Early check-in and/or check-out for a fee available upon request and availability.

Good size place with beautiful views over marsh. Not quite as clean as expected with limited toiletries; however, contacted owner and quick responses and good communication. Catching blue crabs off dock was a special treat.

Great balance to NOLA experience
We loved our stay here! The hosts provided SO much fishing gear, including the boat and crab traps! The house was super cute, well stocked, and clean. We loved getting to explore the city and then come back to the house for relaxation and fishing! It provided us just the balance in our trip that we were looking for. Thank you, hosts! 😊

This property was amazing. The view was beautiful. The property was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with anything needed for cooking. My family really enjoyed fishing off of the private dock. Property is very quiet and relaxing.

Very nice house and property - better than online pictures. House has everything you need for cooking, fishing, playing by water. About 30 mins outside of New Orleans. Owners are nice and respond quickly to any concerns.

Amazing … just the most beautiful view, place and amenities
If I could give more stars I would. We stayed here and the space was beautiful, the views were unbelievable and the extras were the icing on top. The kids loved crabbing off the dock and fishing with the owners local recommended guide. Fishing was the fan favorite of the trip. The adults loved coffee watching the sunrise and wine watching the sunset in the swinging bench on the screened in porch. It was relaxing and amazing and everything we needed. We will definitely come back, even though Louisiana was not the end point on our original trip. We just adored this place.

Peaceful and beautiful
This place is a super neat place. Well kept up and has everything. You could stay here for a week and not have to go anyway else to have fun. They have boats, fishing supplies, games. Beautiful places to sit on deck and porches. Very quite. It's like being in your own home, they have it all, dishes, glasses, pots, pans, towels, bedding, grill. David and Jeff took care of us very well. This place would be perfect for a family with kids. Sleeps 8 with 2 bathrooms 3 bedrooms. It was just me and my husband,but we enjoyed all the room.

Great New Orleans Family Getaway
This was the perfect launching point for our family’s New Orleans adventures! We were able to go in to explore the city easily, but we’re also to enjoy the peace around Lake St. Catherine. Our kids especially enjoyed fishing and heading out in the little boat. It was the best of both worlds! The house was well-stocked (including outdoor equipment) and was exactly as described in the listing. Communication was also excellent. Thanks for being great hosts!

Excellent property to unplug and enjoy beautiful views and family!
Thank you to David for extending his home for a wonderful vacation rental. If you are looking for a place to unwind and disconnect, this is the place for you. The house is clean and wonderfully stocked with everything you will need. The beds are amazing and the outdoor amenities and views cannot be beat. We had a family of 5 adults and had plenty of room. The proximity to New Orleans or Biloxi beaches is an easy drive but being at the house fishing, watching gators and catching crabs, sharks and gar were the highlight of the trip. The German’s from Madison, Wisconsin.

Annual President’s Day Weekend Girls Trip
“I’m Hooked” is such a beautiful home and lovely stay away from reality on a gorgeous lake front! We spent time on the dock fishing, catching crabs, and relaxing on the deck each morning enjoying our King Cake for Mardi Gras! David and Craig were incredibly helpful with tips and tricks of the stay and responded immediately when an issue arises. The house was stocked with everything we could have needed and more! The hypo-allergenic laundry detergent was a HUGE plus! We would definitely recommend “I’m Hooked” to anyone! Our annual girls trip for President’s Day weekend and this year turned Mardi Gras was fabulous!

Almost Perfect Vacation
I cannot express how PERFECT this adorable camp is...or was. 😭 Unfortunately, we were there less than 24 hours and Hurricane Ida sent us back home to Southwest Louisiana. I really hope it makes it through this devastating storm. David was amazing with details and his hospitality! He actually refund our rental fees...absolutely speechless! That camp has anything and EVERYTHING you could possibly need! I just hope we weren't the last to visit "I'm Hooked!" We will definitely return if it was spared! 💚 Thank.tpu so much David & Craig!

Perfect Anniversary Getaway
My wife and I were super excited about this trip, especially because the house was close to my hometown; and we were definitely not disappointed. The home has absolutely everything we needed and is also very tastefully decorated. While the weather did not fully cooperated, we did have a little time to spend on the dock enjoying our cocktails and wetting a line. (It was really cold). The kitchen is amazing, while we spent most of our trip eating out we did cook a nice dinner and some drink snacks. I will say, the selection of yeti cups was a really nice touch. Location was perfect; it took us less than 30 minutes to get to the french quarter and less than 45 minutes to the garden district. Slidell is probably less than 20 minutes for groceries and the seafood shop. While we really didn't need any assistance, we did talk to the property owners to check in and I have no doubt if we had needed anything, they would have been right on top of it. I look forward to visiting again with my son for a little fishing and crabbing, definitely when its a little warmer. Thanks for the amazing stay!

We originally booked this house because of the boat. We were unable to get the motor started (we own multiple boats with different motors). There was a trolling motor that could be used as well, but honestly the boat is much smaller/unstable than I would have guessed from the photos. I’m only mentioning the boat to adjust the expectations for those who find the use of it important. The boat aside, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay in this home again! We were blown away with everything the owners allow us to use. We picked this house because of the fishing off the dock. We brought our own poles & tackle, but there were plenty for guests to use. There was a cast net, bait cooler, electric & battery bubblers, buckets, literally everything you could want for fishing. There’s also a mosquito sprayer, hammocks and so much more! The bait freezer was stocked with leftover bait & ice. You will find detergents, garbage bags, shampoos, conditioners, soaps, paper towels, a soft sided yeti cooler & yeti cups, no need to bring anything. This truly was a unique and special place to stay. I can’t thank the owners enough for allowing us to use all of the wonderful things they provide.

Pleasantly surprised!
The property was even better than appeared in pictures. Very clean and everything in working order. Very well stocked. We brought towels, and didn’t even need them. The house even smells great! A/C unit works great. Yeti cups and cooler were a nice touch. The water is definitely off colored as mentioned, but doesn’t have a smell or cause any issue-we brought drinking water and were fine. One of the reasons we chose this property was the available equipment, and it did not disappoint! This was a trip dedicated to my husbands 40th birthday, because fishing is his favorite thing to do. The kayaks and small Jon boat were an amazing addition to the trip and he thoroughly enjoyed himself! The pier is well lit at night, and was more than enough space for the six of us to lounge during the day! It has power outlets and tons of rod holders. This trip was the first time I’ve ever fished with my kids, and we made memories we will never forget. It was also the first trip we’ve taken with our new golden doodle, and he had a blast also. We were really able to bond with him, and are closer as a result. We did see one small alligator and a snake (as to be expected in the wild), but they left us alone and weren’t a concern. Just another cool memory from our trip. Check in and check out were seamless and David (owner) was readily available during the trip. Overall, this was an amazing getaway, we definitely recommend, and we will be back. We’re Hooked!!

Wonderful Family Getaway!
Fabulous views, wonderful fishing, easy access to the French Quarter, and a fun, comfy home! This house had it all! We took a quick trip to Rouses Market for locally sourced provisions and then settled in for our week away. Our teenagers took over the bunk room and our "tween" loved the second bedroom. Both bathrooms were fully stocked and much larger than expected. We took the kayaks and the John boat out for fishing and also dropped the crab pots each day. We were able to get bait right up the road at the marina and caught plenty enough for a crab boil. We spent one day exploring the French Quarter and also took a fun boat tour at Cajun Encounters. This house is truly in the middle of it all while still feeling like you are nestled in a quaint little village!

I can’t say enough good things about this property or the host! It was our second stay here and even though our trip was cut short by the hurricane it was still an amazing couple of days! The host was absolutely wonderful and stayed in touch about the weather and helped us through the process of having to leave early. We can’t thank him enough!
