Lovely Log Cabin
This home was beautiful and equipped with everything we could need. The setting in the woods was private and relaxing. The location is convenient to both New Market and Woodstock. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arises.

Perfect Getaway Cabin
The cabin was beautiful and has absolutely everything you might need. We had a small accident the first night and the host made sure to check on us and offer recommendations, she was very sweet and you can tell that she truly cares about your experience. The location is amazing, a lot to do around. I will be recommending this place to everyone. Thank you!

Best stay ever
There was just so much to do both inside and outside this cabin. My husband and I took a much needed trip just for the heck of it and were able to reconnect with ZERO electronics and just us with our dog. We spent a day on the deck just hanging out, we spent a day wandering the property just soaking in the sun and walked the trails. And I even had a nice time in the jacuzzi with my wine! Loved every second of our time here!

Awesome long weekend
We booked Wednesday to Sunday, our kids joined us Thursday evening. 3 couples, plenty of room, kitchen had everything we needed. Space very comfortable and laid back. Dark nights for stargazing. Yet close enough to get there in a few hours from home. Would definitely recommend.

Hot Labor Day Wknd
Went to the Shenandoah valley for some hiking but with the 95+ degree temps that just wasn’t going to happen. The cabin was such a nice cool spot though and the AC worked perfectly :) Lovely, clean space just as advertised. A bit a ways from a lot of action but you do get the ultimate small-town vibes. Private with a nice lot to spend some quality time with games and paths through the wooded area!

We Loved It Here
The property exceeded our expectations. The home is in excellent condition, was well-equipped, peaceful, and welcoming. The wifi allowed us to work on the first day of our trip, even in rain. The setting is serene and we enjoyed listening to wildlife while sitting on the porch. The kids appreciated that there is space to throw a football or enjoy the firepit. Fresh, comfortable furnishings made our time inside cozy. Although we'd packed them, we appreciated the availability of extra throws/blankets which can be lacking in other properties. The kitchen was clean and had a better supply of fundamental tools than we've had in comparable properties. We would be eager to stay again and will recommend to friends.

We stayed at the home for a long weekend away and loved it so much! The house is beautiful and well equipped. Any questions we had were answered quickly by the host. The area is really beautiful and we even spotted a little fox and wild turkeys nearby. Highly recommend!

Amazing Cabin
First off... the pictures do not do this cabin justice. Very quiet neighborhood. It was fun when walking dogs in morning watching 4 deer frolic in the neighbors yard (this was every day!). We loved the ability to disconnect from our lives and just enjoy this area. When outside at night. it is pitch black so flashlight is needed. (some lights come on with motion detection in back of house). Communication with owner was fantastic. We had no issues because of this. Location was close to many tourist areas. Luray Caverns, Dukes of Hazard's' Museum, Shenandoah National Forest, New Market Battle Field Museum was very interesting, Various other Battle Field Museums, a number of breweries/wineries... so much more. House was beyond beautiful. Kitchen has all amenities needed. Grocery stores are not far away. Would love to stay here again!

Home away from home
Our stay at "Bear Necessities" was wonderful. The rustic feel of the cabin made for a true mountain stay with amenities worthy of a city rental. Fully functional kitchen with everything you need prepare meals, table to accommodate our large crew. Huge covered porch with lots of rocking chairs made for relaxing afternoons with the family. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms made sleeping trouble-free. They even provided a spare air mattress and sleeping bags for the surprise guest. A loft with TV and video games allowed kids time away from parents on the ground floor. A grill made cookouts easy, and a nice fire pit made for a nice way to end the evenings. Lots of deer and fox sightings. Easy to get to local activities like the Luray Caverns, community pool, and local shops, restaurants, and historical locals. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a mountain escape with great accommodations. Hosts were fantastic.

An Amazing Place

Bear Necessities
Bear Necessities is nestled in the woods near Shenandoah and George Washington National Forest. The home is cozy, clean, well equipped, and beautiful as well as kid and pet friendly. Shenandoah Log Home Getaway
This beautiful log home was the perfect place to celebrate a family member’s retirement. It was comfortable, extremely clean and situated in a private, peaceful, well maintained setting. The layout was perfect with a private master suite and sitting area upstairs and lots of living room, kitchen and dining area space downstairs, as well as two more bedrooms and a bath. We were all very impressed with how well stocked it was with everything you could possibly need. We were four adults, but it was very kid and pet friendly and had lots of entertainment options. Firewood was provided also. We spent a lot of time on the large porch area when we weren’t enjoying local sights.

Beautiful cabin, 5-star stay!
Loved this cabin. It's in a nice, isolated area, so you feel like you're in the woods. Close to lots of good hikes and outdoor activities. The cabin is very well furnished and stocked. Everything from bandaids to charcoal and lighter fluid for the grill. We were there with our baby, and it is a very baby / kid safe cabin. They even have toys! Nice fire pit outside, big, comfortable rooms, very clean. Kitchen has everything you need and then some. My only "complaint" is that the beds are on the small side. The queen is the largest bed, the rest are fulls. Might be less than ideal if couples are sharing beds. Aside from that, the stay was great, host was super helpful (communicated via text). Easy check-in and check-out. Would love to go back!

Beautiful cabin in the woods
This property was perfect weekend getaway to the isolated area in the woods. The peaceful and quiet house was well maintained with everything we needed. Porch chairs were great for relaxing and watching the hummingbirds fly by.

Excellent cabin for our long weekend
Communication with the host was excellent before, during, and after our stay. The cabin was clean, well stocked, and set up to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. The property was quiet and private. It rained one of the days we were there and we made use of the many board games and sat on the covered porch to watch the rain. We would love to stay here again!
