What a view! If you are renting this property, you value a beautiful view with your morning coffee and evening cocktails. Jeff’s place is a rustic home on the water. It has the little quirks of an older home. But it is spacious, has enough beds for a big gang, and is perfectly suited to fun in the river. We had people sit with their toes in the sand for an evening, hosted a small brunch for family members who were in town, kayaked, and spent hours watching wildlife and boaters in the river. The house was clean — no sand, clean beds, no evidence of dogs staying there before us. It does have a slight damp feeling like all homes that sit on the water. There are 2 bathrooms, one with a step in shower which is nice for older folks. Plenty of parking. Drip coffee maker. Lots of pitchers, which I especially appreciate because we love cold iced tea and water when we are outside a lot. The little sand “beach” beach is unique and wonderful. While the dock is shared, there aren’t a lot of people coming and going and we loved chatting when someone actually did come to the dock. There is a huge banquette in the kitchen to set up a buffet — we had brunch and a huge Italian feast one day. Just perfect. If you have a lot of people, bring some paper goods, platters and serving bowls. But if it’s just a family of 6-8, you’ll have plenty of supplies to make meals. The location is within 5 min of the airport, and less than 10 to the town of New Bern. Amazing, welcoming hosts!
