location saved the stay
On arrival after a 15 hour drive, and arriving at 9 pm, first impression was it was a nice property. The next morning when we could see, it was a different story. It looked as if the property was never cleaned. The area around the stove was covered in burnt food, the previous guests left food in the refrigerator. None of the outside lights worked on the porch. The remote to the screened in porch lights didn't work. The ceiling fan in the master bedroom didn't work. The queen bed in the middle bedroom broke the second day. Previous guests left the crab traps in the water unmarked by the dock, found them by waling into them and getting scratched on the legs. The previous guests left trash in the outside trash can that now had maggots and flies, you are required to take your trash with you when you leave. There were metal sparkler wands left all over the yard going toward the dock from the fourth of july. It looked as if the cleaning company hasn't cleaned under the beds in months. Dust and trash found under beds, behind nightstands etc. I was told that if i wanted lights outside that I could try and put new light bulbs in. They didn't have any light bulbs at the house. It was disappointing because the location and the house was very nice, but the condition of the property and the cleanliness of the house was not up to par considering the cost to rent the property for a week. The property manager did respond to my texts and calls, overall disappointed.

Great Rental!
Great Rental! Accurate description with great sunset views and easy water access. Beds and furniture were comfortable, which isn't always the case!! Really nice new dock with kayak access. Comments note that the road into the property is dirt which was a check in the plus column for this trip. The road is well maintained even if not paved. Hope to return again!

Amazing view but challenging drive to and from property
This property has amazing river views but is 5.5 miles off the paved road. The dirt road has been graded but has many ruts and waterholes (after it rains). It took about 25-30 minutes to get back to the house or back out to the paved road. If you are in an old vehicle you could probably go a little faster but it still takes a while to reach the property. The house has some updates (stainless appliances) but could have used a thorough cleaning. The kitchen chair pads were stained and needed cleaning or to be replaced. Bathrooms had newer toilets and were clean. The king bed linens were fine and the bed was comfortable. There was a nice screened-in porch with string light but no switch to turn them on. There were two spotlights on the corner of the garage that stayed on 24/7. They were right outside the king bedroom and shined through the blinds making it difficult to sleep. The yard has a wonderful view but the old flower beds had lots of weeds growing up. We went out to sit at the rod iron table set in the yard and one of the chairs was broken and almost laid all the way back. It was further from downtown New Bern than expected. We adjusted our schedule to only come and go once daily to avoid the extended drive in and out. We elected to to leave a day early to avoid the long drive in an out. A little bit of elbow grease and TLC would make this property spectacular.

What a view!
We had a excellent view and the bed and pillows were wonderful. The road to the house was rough but we brought Susie's and food and just enjoyed the surroundings
