Cabin On The Lake In The Woods

**Only 35 minutes from Sand Valley, world class golf course!**

Spacious 6 bedroom, 3.5 bath cabin located on beautiful Lake Petenwell. Cabin was custom built for the current owners and has been used exclusively for family events and get togethers. With a screened-in front porch and large back deck over-looking the lake the cabin was built with family and the great outdoors in mind.

The house has a master bedroom/bathroom on the main floor, along with a great-room/kitchen/dining area/laundry room and a half bathroom. The upstairs has a full bathroom, 2 bunk-beds in kids room, 2 twins in a second kids room, and 1 king bed, 1 queen and futon in a bonus bedroom. The finish basement has a full bathroom, 2 bedrooms with 1 queen each, a common area with couches and a game table, and an unfinished workout area.

The front porch has a hanging swing and ping pong table. It makes the perfect place to relax and watch the sunset through the pine trees. The back deck spans the back of the house and has 2 outdoor dining tables and chairs, 4 adirondack chairs, a hammock, ring toss game and gas grill. The highlight of the spacious backyard is the custom built-in firepit with 2 log benches and chairs for 6. Relax on the deck gazing at the millions of stars visible without the interference of "city lights" or gather around the firepit telling stories and making s'mores! The perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!

The cabin sits on 6 acres, mostly wooded and has a good sized front and backyard. The houses in the Petenwell landing area sit behind a path which is maintained by the DNR who owns the shoreline, ensuring that natural setting is preserved. The house also is about 50 yards from the dock and sandy shoreline. The bay is perfect for families, very quite, good for swimming, boating, fishing. If renters would like to bring a boat, we can make our lift available with advance notice. The west side of lake Petenwell is very rural and quiet, but the east side contains a few restaurants located on the water. Nekoosa and Wisconsin Rapids have several restaurants, Wal-mart, Piggly Wiggly, and the area has some world-class golfing available.

Family getaway
My husband, 3 children, their spouses, and our 7 grandchildren, ages 8-21, all had a wonderful, busy, and relaxing time at the beautiful lake house. All the amenities available in the house and the available lake made for a week of no one being bored and all appreciating the beautiful wooded lakeside site. Except for four members going birdwatching in nearby parks, there was no need to leave the place to find entertainment. The house was so spacious and gave all privacy when needed. Definitely a winner for us.

Cozy, beautiful stay with many kids and babies!
We gathered together at Jim and Kristi's cabin as old college friends who all have young children and growing families. The cabin was even more beautiful in person than the pictures posted, and we had plenty of room for all 6 families. We loved having the large table for meals and the kitchen was superbly equipped for all of the cooking we did. Check-in and check out were simple, and Jim and Kristi were great communicators and answered all of our questions prior to our stay. They were kind enough to let us book just for a weekend and to extend our check-out time so we could all stay and watch the Packers together. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

The Cabin On The Lake In The Woods is great vacation home which accommodated our large extended family of 7 adults, 7 children, and 2 Golden Doodles. The home was spacious, clean and had a lovely interior. The home was well stocked with needed cookware and other supplies. There were a number of outside toys for children to use including a canoe and two kayaks. Although Buffalo gnats or Black flies at this time of the year along the Wisconsin River can make outside activities difficult, the spacious Great room, kitchen, and deck accommodated our inside family activities. We loved the garage refrigerator and first floor laundry facilities was appreciated for our active family. The cabin is situated in a large wooded lot and is very private. Lake Pentenwell is beautiful and does not have the boating activity that the sister lake Castle Rock has during the summer months. All said, I would be interested in renting again during the winter months given the fire plqces and ability to use the frozen lake for ice fishing and other winter activities (also no Buffalo gnats to contend with). 50th anniversary w/family
Beautiful home and surroundings. Family enjoyed the "beach" area and lawn. Spacious living and dining area easily accommodated our large group. Use of owner paddle craft a plus. The insect traps were to close to the house and the odor was noticeable. All in all a relaxing and memorable vacation. Thanks for a fantastic stay.

We appreciated: 1. having the pig card to get discounts. 2. having WiFi and streaming options. 3. having dvds for rainy days or evenings. 4. the outdoor and indoor games. 5. having plenty of hot water for lots of showers. 6. having plenty of dishes, pots and pans for cooking and ran dishwasher each night. 7. FYI loved the calphalon pots and pans. I might need to get a set myself … lol 8. access to dock, boat lift, and nearby boat launch. 9. Ample space in home to spread out. Kitchen and dining area were spacious. 10. Property manager was very attentive and responsive. A couple items addressed during stay or offered here for future consideration: 1. Lots of rain drove ants into kitchen … resolved during stay but more attention will be needed. 2. The beds are very firm. Great for some but hard on others. 3. Provide/bring steak knives. 4. Attach headboard to bed in basement near bathroom. Overall good time was had by all. Thanks!

Great place
I would stay here again, it is great for a large group! This was a very nice house with lots of rooms and it was great to be able to use the dock for a boat. Kitchen had all the things you needed to cook with. Lake was nice. To get to the boat and beach, which was not really a beach, was a staircase, thought was easier access. Over all though a great place.

Beautiful home, big enough for the whole family. Wish it was lakefront, the walk down and back was not ideal since we had to carry everything with us. There was poison ivy on the path to the lake. Outdoor furniture was not clean, requiring us to clean in order to use.

House is beautiful and spacious and well stocked. A/C is bad. 2nd floor very hot. Basement very cold. Main floor just right. Boating was difficult, since it couldn't stay at Pier 13. Mouse dirt in basement closet. Host and owners are very very nice and helpful.

Lake house visit
House was big enough for all of us. A few problems did occur with no help from manager. A beeping noise from panel on wall in laundry room continued throughout the 6 day stay and we followed all directions on panel l. One of the beds in girls room was not safe as it was propped up on two by fours that fell out. The kitchen fridge did not keep things very cool so a couple dinners we brought were spoiled. A bees nest at the bottom of the back door to the deck was difficult and four of the family members were stung. If patio doors were used then the flies were unbearable. DVD players were not working and DVD’s were almost all in wrong jackets. We thought there would be paper towels but just a half a roll was there. When we called manager she gave us directions to a gas station to get them. Never saw or met her. Screen on front porch was torn so bugs were a problem. But it’s a nice home in a beautiful lake and we rented a pontoon boat and had good time. There are many steps down to the water after a short walk. Luckily all of us were able to use the steps but it should be clearer in the description so older people and/or disabled know ahead of visit that it is not accessible. Laundry was convenient and kitchen stocked well for cooking and serving a large family. Very nice lake and not busy so boating fun and safe.

The property itself was in a very nice location. Quiet town. The homeowners were very nice and easy to work with. Very accomodating to anything we asked of them. The home owners hire a property manager and it was just not cleaned/maintained. We spent the first day of our vacation cleaning. Just not what we were expecting after spending so much / night.

Great property - plenty of room
We really enjoyed our stay here - the yard and house are nice with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The lake is not accessed directly from the property - you have to walk a short ways down a maintained trail to get there. But the lake is gorgeous and the owners generously let us use their kayaks, canoe, and stand up paddleboard. By far the most well-stocked cabin we've stayed at. Plenty of room for 4 families with kids.

The house is absolutely gorgeous, and easily accommodated our group of 10 with plenty of room for everyone. The lake is beautiful and my favorite part of the trip was enjoying morning coffee, watching the sunrise and listening to the birds on the back porch. So peaceful!

Awesome cabin! We had a very large group but it wasn’t tight at all in their cabin. Only down side was that the water front/beach area wasn’t visible from the back deck but we made it work and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Thanks

Our family of 7 adults and 6 kids had a great time at this beautiful property. Plenty of room for all. We didn’t even need to use all the bedrooms. The ring toss game was a hit for all ages. Boat lift worked well. Did not find fish but it was in the mid 90’s every day so it was hard to be out fishing anyway. Six little girls enjoyed playing in the pink bedroom. Nice big dining table. Ticks decreased once grass cut mid week. Overall a great time. Thanks for renting your beautiful home!

We loved this Cabin in the Woods! We had plenty of room for 10 adults, 4 kids, an infant and 2 golden retrievers. Kitchen was great for big family meals, though it was tricky at times to find where everything was among the plethora of cabinets (labels on some shelves were helpful, but others had no labels). Large indoor table and spacious deck were perfect for eating and enjoying the scenery. Pier was awesome for our own boat and the pontoon we rented, as well as fishing. Only complaint was the amount of ticks, which is on Mother Nature. ;)

Great getaway
This property was great for three families spread around the house. The yard is large and on a wooded lot. Amazing pine trees surround the house. They had lots of games and toys for kids to play with. The property manager is accommodating and immediately answers our questions.

Fishing trip.
Went up to go ice fishing. The house was located just up the road from the launch. Very nice setup for after fishing, room for everyone to sit around Nd talk about the day or play cards. Tons of room and beds for guys to sleep. Love the place highly recommend it.
