"Wow...interesting place! It's an old Manor from the 1750's. Soderfors is quiet at night - carpets seem to roll up around 7PM. We arrived at 10PM, starved, and ended up drinking water and having a nice dinner of salt and pepper cashews and beef jerky since the advertised hotel bar and restaurant also follows the local schedule. "Centre of town, part of shopping centre and close to bus station. Nice welcome at reception. Comfy bed, but very thick duvet and room too warm. Turned heating off completely and opened the room, in January. Temperature was then more comfortable. Kettle in the room a bonus. Breakfast reasonable. Rooms a little dated, but good enough for a short stay"

"2 nights stop over in a perfect hotel in great staff and a great breakfast. Excellent evening meal one night and on the second night even though the kitchen wasn’t open the manager still offered us some food. "

"The hotel is at the entrance to a nature reserve, and there are nice walks with beautiful views nearby. There is a nice village nearby, where you can have good lunches and coffee. The room was comfortable with a refrigerator, smart tv and cups and kettle to make coffee. Breakfast was good with vegetables, fruit, and eggs, bacon, sausages, cheese. Altogether an excellent value for the price, and a nice restful place to stay on vacation with a car."

"This hotel was exactly what I was looking for - a quiet, no-frills place to stay on my way to Avesta. The room was clean and simple with a comfortable, good wi-fi and a window that opens widely. The breakfast buffet selection was fabulous. This was, overall, a fantastic value. "

"Rent hotell med, på utsidan, vackra byggnader. Komplexet vi bodde i gav en känsla av äldreboende, linoliummattor på golvet och ett badrum renoverat med plastmattor någon gång under mitten av 1990-talet. På restaurangen på hotellet serverades mycket god mat. Välstädat och prydligt."

"Overnight stay with work - very friendly welcome (we arrived quite late in the evening). Room was clean and well presented, if a little dated. Ample parking, dinner at the restaurant on site was lovely, complete with service with a smile. Breakfast was also perfectly adequate for what we needed."

"Schenströmska är knappast ett alternativ för en weekend över sommaren. Allt var mer eller mindre stängt och det som anges i beskrivningen av hotellet såsom bar, resturang etc. är ej igång (”bar”/reception stängde 18.00). Vi blev hänvisade till en pizzeria på 30 min gångavstånd genom ett industriområde som närmsta middagsalternativ. Inga övriga besöksmål på orten var öppna under den period vi besökte Ramnäs, vilket är klart synd då det finns så mycket av svensk industrihistoria förknippat med...

Peaceful old house on the countryside

"The host is friendly, she sent a welcome e-mail and instructions early and responded on questions quickly. The house is a few km out from Avesta on river bank, nice and quiet. One rents a one room + kitchen + shower/wc whereas there may be other guests renting other parts of the house. The house and the furniture are pretty old, but fully functional (dishwasher, oven, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, etc.) It is the perfect place if one looks for a peaceful corner, wishes to make food oneself and has a car to get there. We were cross-country skiing - there are countless options around. Warmly recommended."
