If there is a symbolic place in Naples, this is Piazza del Plebiscito, now a symbol of the new "Neapolitan Renaissance" where tourists come to admire its grandeur and two jewels: the neoclassical colonnade of the church of San Francesco di Paola and the Royal Palace. Today it is also possible to visit "the underground city," or the so-called "belly of Naples," which served as a shelter for Neapolitans during the bombing raids, where tourists can walk through the Greco-Roman aqueduct, air-raid shelters, and finally visit the War Museum.
Especially not to be missed is the San Severo Chapel, which houses the sculpture of the Veiled Christ, one of the most fascinating and mysterious works to be seen in Naples, the result of the talent of Giuseppe Sanmartino.

DO NOT STAY HERE
This rental was very dirty. My sister and I both got a skin infection and bumps everywhere from the sheets/bed!! There was no AC, the WiFi was awful, there was a creepy room above the bathroom that was closed off with a shutter but full of random stuff (strorage I assume) - and the light was on the entire time making it impossible to sleep. The key to the main door didn't work and when I told the host, they didn't believe me and asked for a video. I sent a video and they never responded. So we were forced to ring the bell to the complex every time we needed to get in, but the first time we rang the bell we got yelled at and the second time we were told to go away. The apartment is located at the top of a very steep hill that is awful for suitcases. Not to mention it's on the third floor with very tight staircases and requires three keys to get into. You have to pay a 20€ fee if you check in after 8pm and a 40€ fee if you check in after 12:00am. Which sounds reasonable if you're checking in after midnight, but 40€?! We arrived at 8:05pm because of the train strikes and were hit with a 20€ fee and an additional 20€ "tourist tax," which was strange because we haven't received a "tourist tax" from any other VRBOs we've stayed at in Italy. The bathroom was disgusting, it advertises that there is lotion and soap which was not true, then they said we have to take all of our trash to a dumpster before we leave or else they'll charge an ADDITIONAL fee for cleaning out the trash cans.

Misrepresented and you wont get a refund
If I could include pictures to show how dirty this place was, no one would ever stay there. Also, the place is on the third floor and there are no elevators - this information is not in the add. Linens and towels were stained and/or dirty. We had to walk away and get a hotel. The rental property, as well as VRBO were unhelpful in the matter. Truly a disappointment.

Sehr schönes kleines Apartment
Excellente Lage in Neapel Mergellina - sehr gut per Bahn zu erreichen, wunderbare Aussicht und man ist zu Fuß sehr schnell auch am Meer. Guter Ausgangspunkt für Erkundungen per Bahn ab Bahnhof Mergellina. Gute Restaurants in der Nähe. Es kann am Wochenende abends etwas laut auf der Straße werden - aber bei geschlossenem Fenster kann man trotzdem gut schlafen. Wir kommen beim nächsten Aufenthalt in Neapel gerne wieder.

Gute Lage, Fenster mit Blick auf Vesuv und Bucht von Neapel
Die Wohnung ist mit dem Auto schwierig zu erreichen. Das Parken dort muss sehr sorgfältig überlegt werden, ansonsten sind Beulen vorprogrammiert. Nette Bewihner des Viertels haben uns dabei gute Tipps gegeben. Auch bis man die engen Treppen im Gebäude erklommen hat, braucht es etwas Geduld. Für Leute, die fit zu Fuß sind, ok. Die FeWo ist sehr klein, aber für 2 Personen in Ordnung. Metrostation Mergellina 5 Min entfernt. Kleine Lebensmittelgeschäfte und viele Restaurants in der Nähe (z.B. „N'ata Cosa“ Trattoria e Pizzeria Restaurant · Via Mergellina, 4 Öffnet um 18:30 - angemessene Preise, freundliches Personal). An der Promenade Pasticceria Leopoldo unbedingt die „Nuvole classiche“ probieren. Auch mitnehmen und dann Frühstück in der Whg.
