"The Hillcrest appears to have been a motor inn long ago, but has been refurbished and refreshed with care and an eye for clean, modernized accommodations for customers. The primary colored chairs on the front walkway are cheery and welcoming as are the staff who are extremely friendly and helpful. Huge hanging baskets of healthy, fresh flowers add to the welcoming ambiance. Check-in was a breeze. The location was convenient to area restaurants and an easy drive to other sites on the UP. The inn is located in front of some woodlands where the owners have thoughtfully cleared a walking path for customers. Although we don't travel with pets, they have pet-friendly rooms and an enclosed area for dogs to play and enjoy fresh air. I would definitely recommend staying here and would do so myself if I am in the area again!"

"I look for a motel that has a friendly, helpful staff and is clean and safe. The Lakeside Motor Inn has everything I need. As for property, I can walk to a few eateries without going into traffic. The location is excellent."
