School House · Restored Historic Schoolhouse, Mystic River Views

This newly renovated, historic 1 BR/1 Bath former school house, is located directly on the Mystic River with amazing River views. . It started life as a one room school house. In 1857, it was moved to it's current location. Our design team meticulously furnished to create a unique historic atmoshpere.

Sure, we're biased. But this cottage has the best of both worlds: sunlit indoor rooms, meticulously restored and furnished to embrace its history as a school house, plus outdoor space for entertaining, reading, or just lying around. There are great views of the Mystic River. The cottage, a restored, historic school house, also has a fully stocked kitchen and washer/dryer. There is WI-FI, TV with Amazon Plus so you can stream your favorite movies and shows. The family and dining areas are spacious and cozy. We are located on the river, across from the Seaport and very near the famous drawbridge.

Guest Access:
Guests have access to the entire cottage. Guests also have access to a great outside garden area with umbrellas, tables, chairs, BBQ grill, and amazing River views. We also have bikes and Kayaks that are available to guests as well. The cottage is behind the main house, which is also available. It is, however, completely separate with its own full kitchen, washer dryer, and entrance. There is also ample parking.

Guests have access to the entire cottage, and the BBQ grill and outside furniture located in back yard.

We are available to help make your stay a perfect one. Please feel free to contact us at anytime with questions.

Our location is incredibly well-suited to the quintessential Mystic experience. We are on the Mystic River and quite kayak friendly. The cottage is very near the drawbridge and a very short stroll to downtown. The famed Mystic Seaport area is about 0.5 mile away and clearly visible from the cottage. Then there's the aquarium, the diner, and a handful of lesser known things to see, do, eat, and drink. We share detailed recommendations and favorite picks with guests upon booking

We are within walking distance to Downtown Mystic and The Mystic Seaport Museum. The Amtrak station is about one mile away. You can walk to almost everything in the area. Uber is available as well.

This is a renovated historic cottage. There are some areas where ceiling height is low. The ceiling by the bed is low. Also, to adjust temperature (heating and cooling), go by “how you feel,” not what the thermostat setting is.
The most important House Rule is, to respect our neighbors. Mystic is a quaint, coastal New England community. As hosts, and guests, we all share in the responsibility to keep Mystic a wonderful place to visit, and LIVE. Please honor all noise ordinances. Be the guest YOU would want staying in a vacation rental located near YOUR home.

Whether you are a pizza movie fan or a pizza lover, Mystic is enchanting. This house is walking distance of everything Mystic has to offer. Extremely charming and, without a doubt, the cleanest house we have ever stayed. Definitely worth a visit.

A picturesque mini-moon
My partner and I had an amazing post-wedding trip in Mystic. The property's location is it's biggest draw - right in the heart of the downtown area within easy walking distance of shopping, restaurants, and the water. No need to worry about street parking as you have your own parking area. Cottage is cozy and clean without onerous checkout instructions, though be mindful of the low ceilings around the upstairs bed. Property manager was kind and communicative throughout the stay as needed. We had an incredible stay and would be more than happy to spend some time at this site again. Thank you! Note: Listing states there is a hot tub, though none on premises. Property manager is aware and states it is a problem affecting multiple listings and he is attempting to fix the listing. Did not affect the quality of our stay in any way, but may be useful for future interested guests to be aware in case it is still listed.

Perfect in every way
This property was probably one of the nicest I have ever stayed in Mystic. Some rentals are just that, rentals, but this truly felt like a home in every way. It was impeccably, clean and decorated, and no detail was spared. Communication with the agent was seamless, and was able to arrange for early check-in. Highly recommend this place and will definitely come back. Walking distance to just about everywhere in downtown Mystic.

Mystic getaway
We stayed in Mystic the first three days in May. Restored schoolhouse was charming, right on the water and only steps from shopping and restaurants. We walked everywhere. Host was very easy to reach and responsive to our questions and needs. We really did feel like we were back in school in this quaint place!

Quick getaway
We took a short trip to Mystic with our 2 grandchildren. We all loved the charm of the property…a19th century schoolhouse, beautifully renovated and updated, yet keeping with some original features. The proximity to the downtown area was perfect. We were able to walk everywhere. The host, Gerard, was a dream to communicate with, checking in with us several times. It was a perfect rental!

This house was an 11/10...absolutely amazing!! We had very high hopes, and they were even surpassed! From the moment the booking was made Gerard was extremely helpful and accommodating with clear and friendly communication. The house was perfect, with everything that you could possibly need. The property is right in town and everywhere that we went was within easy walking distance. We stayed for 3 nights in January, and used the bikes provided at the house for a gorgeous ride around the Mystic River. The house was extremely clean and everything was very well maintained. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots/pans/appliances allowing us to cook some meals at home. We walked into town for dinner at the Port of Call and had one of the best dinners we have ever had, and then scored some delicious coffee and pastries the next morning at Sift (also within walking distance). There is plenty to do in town and in the surrounding area even in the winter! Can't recommend this spot enough, we had such a lovely getaway!

difficult for older guests
Stay was very nice as it always is in Mystic. Home was ideally located, clean, and well stocked. My wife and I are both in our 70's. Stairs to second floor bedroom , bathroom were steep and difficult to climb. Second Floor ceilings were extremely low and we bumped our heads a number of times.

Love the Schoolhouse
Went on a brief getaway to Mystic and the only down side was we only got to stay 2 nights in the Schoolhouse. Amazing location! Right in the middle of Mystic, but set back just enough to be quiet. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay!

Perfect spot for Mystic getaway!
This location is ideal for a couple to enjoy all things Mystic has to offer! It is literally right in downtown, but on a side street overlooking the Mystic River and drawbridge. Peaceful yet steps away from the hustle and bustle of what has become a highly trafficked area. Having off-street parking was SUCH a great feature, along with the outdoor seating overlooking the water, fully equipped accommodations (towels, soaps, spices, grill) and very responsive host! The only note to add is the 1 bathroom is located upstairs and the ceilings are a little low/slanted due to age and design of house. While you could technically sleep 4 in this location, it may be a bit tight from the bathroom perspective. Overall great find - will be booking again in the future!

Comfortable old schoolhouse with great view of Mystic Harbor and Seaport.
Relaxing midweek three-night stay for a quieter setting. The late spring weather couldn't be better. The accommodations anticipated our needs with pleasant sleeping quarters, comfortable seating, a well-appointed kitchen, and privacy. Every morning we enjoyed walking along the Mystic River across from the seaport and through lovely old neighborhoods with wonderfully preserved New England homes. Being a block from Main St. with all its shops and restaurants was so convenient. We're frequent visitors to the area, but the old schoolhouse is easily our favorite place to stay.
