Historic home in downtown Mystic-1 block from green, river, shops & restaurants

Step back in time to 1828 and walk the same halls as Charles Mallory, Mystic’s most prominent shipbuilder (see Mallory buildings and exhibits on display at Mystic Seaport). The Charles Mallory House is a 7 bedroom (sleeps 15), 4.5 bath (3750 sq ft) home located on .65 acre. This newly renovated home was the home of Charles Mallory and his decedents from 1828-2012. Located in historic downtown Mystic, the Charles Mallory Mystic House is ideal for extended/multi-generational family celebrations and reunions. Are you the parent(s) of the bride or groom who is getting married in the surrounding area? Or parent(s) of a Coast Guard student, Connecticut College student, or other academic institution? If so, this is the perfect house to accommodate your guests who are attending your once in a lifetime functions. Leave your car behind as this Greek Revival Home is a 1 block walk to Main Street Mystic, Mystic Green and River, numerous restaurants, bakeries, shops and the infamous Mystic River Bascule Bridge.

Beautiful flower gardens surround the house as well as a front and side porch, a 1,000 sq foot antique bluestone patio with grill, and picturesque 7 foot fountain. An expansive back yard is perfect for your family gatherings or a quiet time to read a book or swing on the tree swing. Two Stand Up Paddle boards (SUPs) that convert into kayaks and 2 kayaks are available for your use. Please note, per recommendation of our insurance company, there are four outdoor surveillance cameras. One camera covers the backyard and carriage house, a second camera covers the driveway and the third camera covers the the patio area. A ring camera is located on the front of the house. There are no cameras located inside our home.

The Charles Mallory House has two floors. The first floor showcases a gourmet kitchen that includes an 8 burner, 2 oven Wolf stove, pot filler, Sub-Zero refrigerator, Miele dishwasher, an over sized island and granite counter tops. Four fireplaces are located in the dining room, family room, living room and bedroom. The first floor bedroom (king bed) with an en suite bathroom is perfect for guest who do not want to climb stairs. A half bath completes the first floor living area.

A foyer with a grand curved staircase (great for pictures) takes guests to second floor or guests can enter the second floor via the servants stairway. Three more fireplaces can be found among the 6 second floor bedrooms (2 king bedrooms- 1 with attached bathroom, 2 queen bedrooms, 1 bedroom with 2 twin beds, 1 bedroom with bunk bed and trundle). A total of 3 full bathrooms complete the second floor living area.

This downtown location is only a 5 minute drive to Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium, Esker Point Beach and Williams Beach, movie theaters, Old Mystic Village shopping, wineries, Fields of Fire Adventure Park and only 20 minutes to Rhode Island Beaches, Foxwoods, and Mohegan Sun Casinos. This property requires the signing of a contract that includes cancellation terms, payment details, and rental terms that could not be outlined within the constructs of the VRBO rental framework. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out for clarification. Thank you for looking at our house and we look forward to having you and your friends and/or family members as our guests.

Relaxing Reunion
A group of friends and family from NJ and Boston stayed as a reunion before the craziness of the holidays. The house, the location, the weather, everything was incredible from start to finish. Just minutes away walking from plenty of restaurants and bars! The hosts came with plenty of recommendations, and helped make our decision for dining for the weekend. Definitely would recommend this property!!

Wonderful historic house
We really enjoyed staying in Mallory house in New London, CT. It was very convenient to downtown Mystic and walking distance to a variety of restaurants. The description in the ad of the house is accurate. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed. All of the appliances are top of the line models and in good working order. There were plenty of dishes and glassware. We didn’t verify the cooking utensils because we were too busy trying out the restaurants and donut shops in the area. But we were able to find everything that we looked for. The towels and bedding all exceeded expectations. The floor plan is a little quirky, it is a historic house, but was very comfortable and workable for our group of 7 adults and a toddler. We really appreciated the special touches, a plate of homemade cookies, private label wine, coffee and a selection of teas. The host provided us with good recommendations on the area and was very quick with answers to any questions we had.

Wonderful Historic Home in Mystic
We (a group of 12 women who have been in the same bookclub for 20 years) had a wonderful 'anniversary' celebration in this beautiful historic home. The bedroom configurations worked out perfectly, with one master on the first floor. The location to downtown Mystic and the Mystic Seaport Museum allowed for easy walks on what ended up being two beautiful fall days. The kitchen was stocked with every cooking utensil we needed and the appliances were updated/modern. There were plenty of bathrooms and expansive, comfortable gathering spaces inside and out. A lovely, lovely yard as well. The owners were as gracious as could be and very easy to communicate with.

Nice GEM of a home!
We booked this home for our whole family as the home base while we were in Mystic for our daughter's wedding. While we were pretty busy with the wedding, we did not get to spend as much time on the property as we would have liked. But when we were there, it met all our expectations. It was very clean and comfortable, with a kitchen well stocked with essentials. We absolutely loved the charm and history of the home. The backyard and sitting area was a great place for the kids to run around while the adults lounged in the nice sitting area. Most importantly, there were a couple minor glitches and the owners were VERY responsive and fixed the problems immediately. It's obvious they take pride in their home. We would definitely come back!

Marvelous Mystic
This house was perfect for our large group of 13, including lifelong college friends, their spouses and children in their 20’s. The house is gorgeous and equipped with everything you could possibly need. We loved sitting out on the large beautiful patio surrounded by flowers and a fountain. The walkability to downtown was a huge bonus. We enjoyed shopping, brunch, dinners and happy hours at many establishments (Lynn provided some great tips). Some of our group also had fun using the kayaks and paddle boards. The group was unanimous, we all loved our stay here!

Perfect Mystic Getaway
The Charles Mallory was an absolute delight. We kept repeating that it was the perfect location for our annual July 4 family get-together. We were walking distance to downtown Mystic and all the shops and restaurants - nothing was more than a 10 minute walk away. One of the days, we drove 5 minutes over to the aquarium and spent the rest of the day in Mystic village. We also visited Foxwoods, took a boat ride, and went to hibachi, all less than half hour drive. The house itself was great. Even though its almost 200 years old, the owners did a spectacular job renovating much of it to keep it appealing, while maintaining that historical feel. The pictures of the kitchen don't do it justice as it was huge, and we really enjoyed cooking on the Wolf range, as well as the high-end grill outside. The patio and backyard were perfect for kids to run around. And the sleeping arrangements worked out perfectly and all 14 of us were situated very nicely. Overall, I would highly recommend this house to any large group wanting to spend time in Mystic!

Perfect Location for Our Large Group
This beautiful, historic home served as a perfect location for our large group reunion of 3 families of 4 and 2 singles, ranging in age from 10-49. There was plenty of room to spread out and there were also plenty of spaces to gather as one large group. The backyard deck is particularly lovely. They made check-in and check-out easy with their home guide, which also provided a fascinating history of the house, and were very responsive when we had a concern that they resolved immediately. Very friendly couple. A lovely coffee house across the street had us going every morning, but they supplied plenty of coffee for our group and even a plate of homemade cookies and 2 bottles of wine greeted us on the counter upon our arrival! Would definitely recommend to anybody looking to stay with a large group of people.

Wedding Perfection
We stayed with friends and family in the Mallory house to celebrate our daughter’s wedding in Mystic. The house was the perfect backdrop to a perfect weekend. We were able to host guests on the delightful patio and cook an end of weekend feast in the lovely kitchen that has everything a cook could ask for. We even did a few first look pictures by the fountain and on the swing with all the beautiful roses as a background. As a rental house we had everything we could ask for: comfortable beds, multiple bathrooms and so many fluffy towels! Mystic is a special town and the Mallory House will have a special place in our hearts for making our daughter’s wedding weekend even more spectacular!!

Our Intimate Wedding
We chose this spectacular property for our wedding that only included seven members of our family for it's charm and access to downtown Mystic. Lynn and Skip could not have been nicer or more helpful in their hospitality and recommendations. The kitchen was both beautiful and functional, the dining area fit us perfectly, and the expansive patio was an amazing spot for our ceremony and relaxing by the firepit on the following night surrounded by flowers and a bubbling fountain. We hope to return for an anniversary gathering in the future.

A Memorable Stay at Mystic
My family had the pleasure of staying at this remarkable abode over Memorial Day Weekend. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the warm hospitality of our hosts. Their thoughtful welcome note, complete with homemade cookies and a bottle of wine, set the tone for a truly memorable stay. The sheer grandeur of the home captivated us upon entry, evoking a palpable sense of history and charm. The expansive exterior was equally inviting, boasting a meticulously maintained backyard adorned with ample seating, shaded areas, a fire pit, and a grill—an ideal setting for outdoor gatherings. Stepping inside, we found ourselves immersed in comfort and convenience. The air conditioning provided welcome respite from the summer heat, while the plush beds ensured a restful night's sleep. The spacious kitchen and dining areas were well-appointed, perfect for accommodating both children and large families alike. Beyond its historical allure, the location proved to be equally appealing. A brief stroll led us to the enchanting Mystic Seaport Museum and downtown area, while major grocery stores were just a short drive away. In summary, our experience at this extraordinary home was nothing short of exceptional. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable getaway.

Dream Trip
I have been planning a trip for my American Literature class to go to New England and see examples of the places we read about and to enjoy the rich literary past. Staying at the Mallory house made this trip perfect. The students were overwhelmed at the beauty and the history of the house. We had 11 people in our group, and the space was perfect. We had plenty of room to spread out comfortably, and the dining room was perfect for getting assignments and meeting to go over the plan for the next day. Our stay could not have been more perfect. Wonderful stay with family and friends in Mystic for wedding celebrations. Our guests came from different parts of the country, arriving and departing at different times. Quick walk to town for shopping and munching. Our host were most pleasant and accommodating. Always making sure that we had what we needed and making sure we were comfortable. We had 12 sleepers for a few nights and room for everyone. The beds were very comfortable! I could go on and on about this special house. So historic and beautiful!
