Txurruka is located in the coastal town of Mutriku. Built by Admiral Antonio de Gaztañeta, a renowned shipbuilder between the 17th and 18th centuries, it is the birthplace of Brigadier Cosme Damián Churruca, a great scientist and hero of the Battle of Trafalgar. And, it is currently the home of the Count of Mutriku, Don Enrique Areilza y Churruca. Descendant of Evaristo Churruca, who became an internationally renowned engineer, responsible for the construction of the outer port of Bilbao.
