I want to start by saying that I have stayed at 10+ rentals and have never left a negative review. This, sadly, was a poor experience, because of the poor communication with the hostess. I will share some of the pros and then list the negatives.
Pros:
-The pictures were similar to what the property was like, overall it’s what you’d expect.
-The community, though dated, worked well for us. Super close to the ocean and convenient, especially if you have a working golf cart.
Negatives:
-Prior to our stay (48 hours) we received a vague email saying that we would be getting a full refund because she had cut ties with the people we were working with. We emailed and called her, because we were confused by the email. She did call us back and explain that she had accidentally sent us that email.
- You need to print a form she provides and show it to the guard to access the property. We received this less than 24 hours prior to check in. Because of where we live, we had already left and didn’t have the capabilities to print. Luckily the guard was willing to work with us, but again, an unnecessary stressor.
- You sign a rental form that includes loose details about the stay, including the code to get in. Not a huge deal, but I’m used to properties that message you the necessary/important info. The house also didn’t have any info printed about the neighborhood-literally only the WiFi on the fridge. We are used to welcome packets with information about the area and reminders for when you leave.
- Within the first 24 hours we didn’t have working water. We messaged the hostess and she replied “I will check with the village” and never heard back from her. Luckily the water came back on, but the next day it shut off again for over 8 hours. While this wasn’t something she could control, she never even said “I’m so sorry for this inconvenience” or anything of that nature. Just vague “I’ll check with the village” texts and then nothing else.
-We took the golf cart to the pool and it died. We contacted her and again got vague a response with no “I’m so sorry”. We didn’t have a working golf cart the entire stay (5 days).
-Our toddler found a large, dead bug in the house. Very gross.
-They left enough dishwasher soap to run one load and enough soap to wash a couple dishes. Not nearly enough for 5 days.
-Things happen, but I think the hostess’s response can make a bad situation better. That didn’t happen for us.
