"We had a phenomenal stay with Passion Boutique Hotel!! We stayed with them after a trip hiking up Kilimanjaro and it fitted the bill for a total chill out and recharge. The staff, food, facilities and scenery was above and beyond what we had expected. Big shout out for Madelina who really looked after us on our stay, ensuring us we had everything we need and everything ran smoothly. She again went above and beyond and our experience was fantastic. The staff in the restaurant were all fantastic, Anthony, Hassan & Anana really looked after us as well, we didn’t want to leave! We never saw the chef but the cooking was outstanding and we are missing it now when back at home. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone who is visiting Zanzibar. "

"Incredible staff nothing was too much to ensure my stay was amazing. The room was fantastic but would have liked not to have ask for the fridge or other listed things that weren’t in the room.! Main issue would be the lack of transport for solo travellers, the opportunity is there but not explored as we would love to book trips but are excluded The location may not be suitable for many but for my stay it was perfect "

"My stay at Kwanza was amazing, stayed here for my honeymoon and my wife really loved the resort. We stayed in one of the swim up rooms which was a nice added feature. The only thing I could fault this hotel is the drainage system in the shower and sink is a bit slow to go down the drain other than that everything is 5 star. I would definitely stay here again and the staff were all amazing and accommodating. "

"A truly wonderful hotel that stands out for its friendly family feel customer service and its variety and standard of food that has so many choices for vegetarians during the 4 course meal every night. The rooms are tastefully decorated with good aircon and mosquito nets for the bed. The pool and sunbeds are well spaced and quiet and there are paddle boards to use in the sea. The treatments at the spa are varied and delivered brilliantly for a very reasonable price! I highly recommend this adults only hotel if you’re looking for peace and tranquility with an outstanding focus on you as the guest"

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Sands Resort. Each suite is actually a separate bungalow with large, comfortable rooms and wonderful AC. There is an onsite restaurant that serves all day as well as a beach bar that serves snacks/meals during the daytime. It was very relaxing to be able to have all of our meals on the property. The staff were all very friendly and professional. Everything about the staff and property was wonderful. The hotel also offers excursions. The nice thing is that they are private which entailed having a driver and tours that were just for our party. However, I would not recommend doing the "swim with dolphins" excursion because there are too many other boats doing the same thing, and we didn't feel safe going in the water with so many boats moving around quickly to try to bring their passengers close to the dolphins. So, we stayed in the boat. Also, there were no life jackets available, and it was unclear how we would get in/out of the boat without a ladder or rope; the snorkel and other equipment was old, and we didn't get a chance to try the snorkel/mask before going on the water. We also did the Jozani Forest/Butterfly excursion, which was interesting to do to see the monkeys, mangroves, and butterflies, but the price the hotel charged seemed disproportionately higher than the experience merited; please note that I say this without knowing how much the hotel paid the driver to stay with us for several hours and for the forest guide. "What a luxury to step out of our room onto a soft, white sand beach. Between our room, the water and neighbouring restaurants, we never needed to leave the beach! The rooms are simple, but clean and the bed was comfortable. The bungalows are lovely with a laid-back vibe, a beautiful garden and lots of shade trees. Restaurants are close by and the wood-fired pizza shop, literally steps from our door, made delicious pizza. What really made our visit was the staff – They are the best! Everyone is welcoming, friendly and always ready to assist. We liked that it was an ‘public' beach as described in the listing. Kids and families from the village played in the water, there was a nightly football game on the beach, and photogenic fishing boats and dhows bobbed in the water. Honest review – expect local guides, souvenir sellers, etc. to approach you on the beach. Fortunately, they are mostly easy going and it can be fun just to talk to them. The bungalows are closely clustered around the bar/lounge area. It is low-keyed, everyone is there just to chill, and all is quiet even before 10. Overall, this is an excellent value in a truly special location."
