Koonawarra is a comfortable 3 bedroom home with 3 bathrooms. It is filled with natural light and has views of the gardens. Koonawarra is located on the highest point in Mt Wilson. The name Koonawarra originates from an Aboriginal word meaning "a high point of land with smooth, round stones".
Located in 24 acres of historical Dennarque Estate gardens, which have been featured in local and international media, and regarded by many as the best cold climate garden in Australia.
The gardens were designed over 140 years ago by the then Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney director, Charles Moore. The Gardens still retain a large number of original plantings from late 1880s that were introduced from various countries around the world.
There are many rare species of maples, rhododendrons, camellias, dahlias and many other exotic and rare plants. A Japanese influenced garden has recently been added to Estate.
Rarely open to the public, the exotic cool climate gardens of Dennarque Estate are best experienced as in-house guests.
Guests can enjoy a game of tennis, stroll through the gardens, watch many migrating birds, or just relax and curl up with a good book! Koonawarra is ideally placed as a perfect base to explore the Blue Mountains towards 3 directions: towards Bilpin, Leura and Lithgow.
