I'd like to be as honest about this review as I found the current reviews of this place missing a few key points that you might want to consider.
Overall the property is accurately pictured, was clean given the industry standard, and right on the lagoon as the description states.
However, at the price point you are booking this, there are several inconveniences you might want to consider.
- This particular villa doesn't have a standard private parking. So if you rented a car this might be a bit of an annoyance. Now, Alix was super helpful and moved her own car up to accommodate a parking spot for us. But we did find it annoying on vacation to be up before 10am (which is when Alix would typically make her daily trip out), to move the car over to the street. Not a deal breaker, just an annoyance.
- There are mosquitos EVERYWHERE and they BITE! These mosquitos like to feast. My husband & I got bit everywhere, and over and over again. No form of mosquito spray will work, trust me on this. If you are fine constantly itching your skin you'll be fine. I felt like this mosquito issue really prevented us from enjoying the outdoors so we found ourselves inside the villa most of the time. I guess this is a given being on the lagoon side, but man it was really difficult dealing with these mosquitos. I wish someone would've mentioned this in one of the reviews.
- AC placement in the bedroom is a bit off. Its located above the closet in the room, and didn't seem to be a powerful AC either. The room did cool, but certainly not to the degree that you'd want. Additionally, the roof on the bedroom and the bathroom both are not sealed so tons of mosquitos and other bugs do find their way in that way as well. And this is probably another reason the AC is unable to cool down the room.
- Lastly, for the price point you are paying for this villa, it is really tiny. There is no storage space (aside from a tiny closet right next to the bed) or any form of an indoor living room where we could placed your luggage. With our luggage alone (2 suitcases) and the room already being on the tiny-side, we just felt crammed .
I know I focused mainly on the cons here, but this place is really beautiful. However, it is pricy for the inconveniences you'll experience. If you are OK with all of the above, then you'd really enjoy your time. Alix was great and so were the kayaks, life jackets, snorkeling fins, etc. We enjoyed Moorea and the location of this spot is great!
