This small apartment perfectly suited the two of us as a base for a few days exploring Montpellier. Very clean and comfortable and well equipped: kitchen, wifi, linens, supplies, etc. Even a bottle of OJ and water in the fridge to welcome us! Basic in the kitchen for your own cooking and meal prep. Bed was very comfortable. We had no need to try out the fold-out bed, so can't comment. Everything worked well.
M. Vaché met us at the train station (NB, he suggested the McD's at the train station, but it is not actually in the station, but on the square in front. Easy to find, once you stop looking around in the station and find the right exit ). He helped with our luggage and walked us to the flat. Not far -- maybe 10 - 15 minutes, but you get oriented to the city.
The flat is in a quiet square adjacent to St. Anne's church, now a cultural / arts centre. In the square are a couple of cafés and shops. Nearby is an amazing bakery (Des Reves et du Pain -- dreams and bread) perfect for fetching baked goods . Rue Ste. Anne runs off the Rue St. Guilhem, which is full of interesting shops, restos, and cafés.
The flat looks out over the rooftops of Montpellier, facing west. Late afternoon sun and sunsets, but can be warm (we had no problem in October, but for warmer months there is A/C). There is no lift (elevator), and the flat is on the top floor (3rd floor European count, or 4th floor North American -- either way, it's 3 flights up). We didn't find this a problem despite our ages (early 60's) and bad knees -- the stairs are not steep. We ran into a few of the neighbours who all seemed friendly. Felt very safe and secure.
M. Vaché came and met us on at our appointed time for departure, to make sure we were satisfied. He offered to help us to the station, but by this time we knew our way around the city and it wasn't needed.
We liked it so much, we'll very likely book it again for a longer visit. Montpellier is an interesting mid-sized city for a residential style visit, rather than tourism. It's a beautiful very walkable city with lots of interesting shops, quartiers, and cafés, but not a lot of typical touristic sites to visit. Ergo, a good place to simply live for a week or two and life the French way! This apartment would be perfect for that or for any other reason to stay in Montpellier.
á bientôt.
