Rustic Vermont Barn Home Near Jay Peak w/Pizza Oven

Come experience a charming and relaxing home with a distinct Vermont flavor.

For your safety and convenience, we are offering self-check instructions to make you more comfortable upon check in.

Just minutes away from Jay Peak and right on Main Street in Montgomery Center, this home is a short walking distance from a supermarket, restaurants, Trout River, and local bars. The Barn is cozy enough to help you unwind and relax after enjoying all of your favorite Vermont outdoors activities--hitting the slopes, hiking, fishing, etc.

The home has been lovingly renovated and updated while preserving and emphasizing its old Barn charm. Come and relax while you admire the work of a master carpenter throughout the whole house, from its handmade winding staircase to the wooden homemade cover plates.

The kitchen is fully stocked with nice assortment of pots and pans as well as plates, glasses, and silverware. There is also plenty of counter space if you feel like cooking. If you are not serious about cooking a meal, there are a number of options just a few steps away at The Inn (right across the street) or at Bernie's just down the street. You may, if you prefer, drive to The Belfry just up the mountain. Either way, we will leave some bottled water in the fridge to help you get settled. For your convenience, the kitchen is equipped with a DW, LP oven, electric cook top, and a microwave. There is a spice rack, a professional coffee grinder if you prefer to bring your favorite flavor of coffee beans, and a coffee maker. There is a Hearthstone Pizza Oven and large stainless grill outside.

The main home has 3 bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The Master has two Queen size beds and is separate from the other bedrooms for some privacy. The next bedroom has a Queen and a Twin. The third bedroom has a Queen bed and a Day bed. There is a cot and a sofa bed for additional guests in the main Barn. There is also an additional bonus space available with additional beds for a small fee.

We welcome your small to medium sized nonaggressive dogs. Please verify breed with us before booking. For the comfort of all guests, we prefer them to be of the hypo-allergenic dog breed type. There is an additional $100 pet fee for first and $25 for each additional.

The home has a Rinnai heater and three additional propane fireplaces--two of them being Vermont Hearthstone Gas fireplaces. These last two are handmade right here in Vermont and are beautifully crafted with a marble surrounding.

The larger living area upstairs includes a Smart TV, basic cable/Wi-Fi, and a Xbox One gaming system. There is also a ping pong table, foosball table, and an exercise machine available for your use.

There is a dining room and also a formal dining room for your convenience and comfort. The formal dining room boasts a 12-foot-high stained-glass window sure to impress your guests.

The two full bathrooms are located one on each floor. There is a third bathroom available with the bonus area. There is a laundry room on the main floor as well.

We know you are coming to enjoy the town, but we also know you come to ski/snow board. For that purpose, we provide you with a large, heated mud room for all your gear with plenty of space to hang your coats and secure your equipment away from the street.

There is a binder in the kitchen area with local information for your convenience as well as general house information and rules. We are only 10 miles away so feel free to contact us if anything comes up. We encourage you to please help us maintain the place well-kept for the comfort and convenience of all guests. Please be advised that the home is surrounded by family homes. Quiet time of 10 pm until 6 am is strictly enforced as per town regulations. Please be respectful of local residents. A Nest doorbell is installed to help monitor plowing and parking. Please put any ski equipment in the mudroom.

This is our second stay - we had such a wonderful time once again. The Barn is beautifully decorated and the hosts made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. There are lots of breakout rooms and places to spread out for fun and quiet times alike. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Perfect for our two-family get away
What a lovely home-perfect for our two-family get away to witness the eclipse! We have already made our next reservation! The hostess was super attentive. There were so many treasures to enjoy throughout the home! Ping pong was played for multiple hours. The pizza oven was so fun, produced super tasty pizzas, and quick!! The tub in the bonus space provided pampering during the day and additional private sleeping at night. Plenty of cozy spots were appreciated for reading, conversing and naps. We even completed one of the puzzles just before midnight the night before we left (delighted to find that not a piece was missing). We had such a wonderful time! We highly recommend this home!

Stayed for 1 month - March 2024
We stayed for a full month & loved our stay. We were greeted with a basket of food/snacks and each room had towels and soaps laid out. 'Ye Old Barn, while having some quirks, served us very well for our stay. It was rustic and endearing. The kitchen is a great space, fully functional and fully stocked with cooking gear. There is a great spot to bring in your ski gear and store to warm up for the next day. Saw some snow shoes and sleds (which we didn't use). We used the laundry a lot and appreciated the supplied detergent, laundry basket, etc. Beds were comfortable. There are plenty of sheets, blankets and pillows. Plenty of hot water (just don't do laundry at same time). Couches were also comfy, plenty of spaces to sit. Easy walk to Sylvester's or 'the Shoe' and about 12 minutes up to Jay Peak. Internet and wireless worked flawlessly allowing me to work remotely including teleconferencing. Piano is in tune if you are a player. We even used the pizza oven outside which was a lot of fun. Quirks I mentioned... Learning the light switches, using spiral stairs, small shower upstairs and 2nd shower downstairs, no queen bed had access on both sides and access to the annex from the kitchen/downstairs is a bit of a hike with the stairs. It is a converted barn and we expected this type of thing, none of them a big deal at all. Jill, our host, was super responsive and easy to communicate with and very willing to accommodate (even bought us some new non-stick frying pans).

Wonderful Place & Wonderful Host
Our recent stay was the best vacation experience both families have experienced in years. We have stayed in many different rental homes while skiing in Vermont/NH/Maine. Nothing will compare to the warm, welcoming and special feeling as guests we received from Jill & Rafael. The Barn is amazing, the space is perfect for two families and the character of the home makes you feel like you are enchanted. Jill and Rafael provided a wonderful welcoming and made you feel at home throughout the entire trip. Communication was excellent and helpful. The location is perfect for Jay Peak or visiting the Montgomery area which is also a hidden gem of a ski town! The weather was not in our favor to ski one day however that didn't matter. Kids played, adults read, and there was even some background piano tunes going while relaxing in the warmth of fireplaces. Jill & Rafael thank you so much for sharing your home & kindness with our families. We cannot wait till next year! Cheers, Shawn

Cozy Barn with Cabin feel
Overall had a great time at this place. My friends and I loved the pizza that came out of the oven but you really have to know what you're doing or it doesnt come out the way you want. Beds were comfy. Place was clean and with plenty of space for activities. The extra studio was also worth it for more personal space for everybody as well!

Lots of charm!
We arrived on the coldest day I have ever experienced in my life (-23 degrees!). The owners made sure the home was warm and comfy for our arrival. It set the tone for what was to be a great week. We loved this property and it's location, as it was just a short walk to town and a quick drive to Jay Peak. The house has a ton of charm and space, and we especially enjoyed playing ping pong after a long day of skiing. The kitchen had everything you could need for cooking and was a great space to hang out. The owners checked in periodically and were a pleasure. We had a great time! Places to recommend: the Salt Cave, The Inn (just across the street!), the Snowshoe Pub, Cafe Oma, and the Belfry.

Amazing place and experience
I'll try to keep this short but I have to really spell out how wonderful Jill and Rafael were to us in regards to our rental+. We had originally rented this in April '22 but bc of family illness/death, we were not able to make the trip. No problem! We were able to rebook for this past wknd, Feb '23. Upon entering I was quickly reminded of why we booked their home. It is everything you want in a VT home: cozy, spacious, clean, great kitchen. You name it, they have thought of everything. We bought our dog and there is even a fenced in side yard for him. Oh and the pizza oven. It is a top notch, high level, off the hook oven if I've ever seen one. The pizzas were too die for! Nothing like it after a long day of skiing. House is perfectly located in the quaint town of Montgomery and you can walk to everything. Literally everything. Easy peasy. Jill and Rafael have outfitted the home with a binder that has pretty much anything and everything you need to know about the area. We appreciated the info. Communication was top notch from the get-go and there were never any questions. However what happened after we left is unheard of. Jill sent me a msg that our son had left his Math folder in the house. The last thing anyone wants to read after you're 1 hr down the road. But Jill and Rafael immediately offered to take photos of the critical pages and promptly mailed it back to us this morning. So we had about 20 pages scanned and sent over for us to print by the time we got home. Who does this? Only good humans. Amazing humans. Clearly we had a great experience. But, we would have without the act of kindness. It's just too special not to share. Don't hesitate on Ye Old Barn! You will not regret it. xx

Vermont ski trip
Our family has always wanted to ski in Vermont, so as a Christmas gift we decided to look for a place to rent. The Ye Olde barn was a perfect place to stay, it had several different areas where everyone could enjoy different TV shows, etc. allowing us to be together but yet have space away. The fenced in yard was great for our dog to run, which he so enjoyed!! The pizza oven was so much fun to use!! The overall experience with renting to staying to checking out was awesome! The owners kept in contact to make sure we were comfortable and that we had everything we needed. I would definitely stay at this Barn again. Thank you so much!!

Wonderful stay at "Ye Olde Barn"
Our family had a terrific stay at "Ye Olde Barn"! Jill was a great host! Quick to respond to any questions we had before arriving and after arrival. The Barn had plenty of space for the family, inside and outside! We enjoyed the pizza oven...even in the rain! Montgomery Center is a wonderful starting place for exploring Northern Vermont. Looking forward to our next stay!

We had a lovely stay at the barn! Our visit was towards the end of the summer and the house is a short drive and vigorous hike to a beautiful river swimming hole. The house itself is very quaint and eclectic. Make sure to bring your pizza dough to take advantage of their outdoor brick oven!

Unique, wonderful property
We loved our long weekend in March centered around skiing at Jay Peak. The mountain is 15 minutes away, an easy drive, even in the blizzard we experienced (though we definitely used our 4-wheel drive). The house is a refurbished barn that has been made into a very comfortable, attractive, and spacious vacation home. Several locations for multiple groups to convene. Two large TVs. Fabulous large kitchen. Everything as advertised, even the brick pizza oven outside. Highly recommended!

Perfect Jay Peak Ski House
This house was absolutely awesome. The pictures totally do not do justice to how big this place honestly is. We had 5 people and 1 child who is 2 years in age, and there was so much space to hang/eat as a group when we wanted, as well as just disperse and do our own thing when we wanted. The mud room was clutch for keeping all our snow gear as we had a set of people at Jay 6 of our 7 days at the house. It was also perfectly heated with a workout cycle, that I used for one day to get some cardio in. It’s unfortunate of COVID times because the house is perfectly situated on a main street in Montgomery with nice restaurants and a few shops, that would have been really enjoyable to walk to as they are that close. The supermarket is also a 1 minute drive, few minute walk, with a gas station too, so if you forget anything on your list, don’t fret. The pizza oven was absolutely awesome too. We did two nights of pizzas and I highly recommend a pizza night for your stay. Fun group activity, and just absolutely delicious if you do it right. Bedrooms were also super spacious, multiple beds...again, our 5 people and a child never were in each other’s way at all. Could have easily doubled our group. Thank you Jill and Rafa for a wonderful stay!

Perfect ski vacation
We were originally a group of 9 people (7 adults and 2 teenagers), traveling for an end of February ski vacation. We added the optional apartment to our stay to accommodate the couples we had with us. The pictures don’t do this property justice. It’s huge, with bedrooms upstairs, and kitchen/dining room/living room/mud room and laundry room downstairs with a full bathroom to boot. We had a ton of space, we’re warm and cozy, cooked every night and overall felt right at home. The ping pong table made for many fun games and occupied the kids. The kitchen had everything we needed. The bathrooms were comfortable and the water very hot. We took much needed baths after a day on the slopes. The house is 15 minutes away from Jay Peak, a straight shoot up to the resort. We had a four wheel drive, which we think is a must in VT in the winter. It showed half the week we were there, and the driveway was plowed, as was Main Street. There are a few restaurants on Main Street that we walked to for dinner or breakfast, a small grocery store and a bar with pool tables we hung out at. Overall, we’d love to come back and will do so without any hesitations! Thank you for a perfect stay, a warm welcome and a great historic yet cozy and comfortable place to stay!
