20% late-availability discount in October at this stunning mountain hideaway

Dar Hajra, which has featured in many interior design magazines and travel features, is hidden away in a forest above the undiscovered ‘white village’ of Montecorto, close to Ronda with an amazing infinity-edge plunge pool.

In High Season from March to October the property is only rented on a weekly basis with all rentals beginning and ending on Saturdays. From November through to February 5 night stays are accepted.

From the villa’s amazing terrace - this is the highest house in the village - you're treated to stunning views of the Grazalema mountains. A path flanked by rosemary, lavender and honeysuckle climbs up to the house: it looks traditional enough from the outside but within, a big surprise awaits. The mountain has been wrapped into the fabric of the building with the rock adds a stunning decorative element: Dar Hajra means ‘House of the Rocks’.

A pyramidal atrium is the visual axis around which the open-plan lounge/diner turns. Three huge windows lead to the terrace and infinity-edge plunge pool whose waters seem to merge with the sky. The sitting room, kitchen/diner and study are one huge open space, there's a large master bedroom, extraordinary bathroom and hundreds of books, CDs and paintings. Upstairs is a second bedroom, perched like an eagle's nest on the third floor of the house. It has both north and south facing windows which catch the summer breezes, a great spot for a siesta-with-a-view.

The house has a fast, optic fibre wifi connection and an iMac computer. There's an Android tv with a sound bar with Netfilx, Youtube etc.

A discrete housekeeper cleans and tidies every day (unless you prefer her not to come in). In house-catering can normally be organised given prior warning.

Dar Hajra is no ordinary rental property.
From the moment you step in and see the views out through the triple run of huge windows you'll be happy that you've chosen this very special home. There are hundreds of CDs and books (the owner is a well-known writer on Andalucía), a huge collection of DVDs whilst the views from the open plan kitchen are also unforgettable.

This is one of Andalusia's most spectacular holiday lets, and we take great care to give guests really detailed information about how to get the very best out of the area.
I've written extensively about Andalucía and you will find copies of my walking guides at the house, including 'The Mountains of Ronda & Grazalema' (Cicerone Books) which can lead you to the best walks in the surrounding mountains.

Foodies will also benefit from our bar and restaurant listings which can help make your stay a great culinary experience, too. And we are on hand 24/7 to help you get the very most out of your stay in this beautiful part of Andalucía.

A unique experience
This is a marvellous house. It's stylish and homely . Full of great books art and furniture. The position overlooking the valley is stunning we loved the terrace and pool. Our only reservation is the bath room is difficult. Taps are out of reach the bath is HUGH and there are big black ants everywhere. It was a unique experience to visit DarHaji we loved it.

Dar Hajra - one of the best
Dar Hajra is approached via a fairly circuitous route through the pine forest, but when you arrive, what a reward! You really do feel you are on top of the world in this very special property, which even exceeded the tempting description. The unique design creates an impression that the house has grown organically from the rock face, which is an integral part of most rooms - including the incredible bathroom! The clever use of light and space is fully complemented by the comfortable and carefully chosen furnishings- all incredibly clean and well kept. We particularly loved the ethnic influences. The terrace was to die for! The designer infinity pool, the second comfortable seating and dining area, and the most spectacular views made it very difficult to tear ourselves away, particularly as we were working our way through the amazing music selection. Watching the sunset with a glass of Rioja was very special, not to mention romantic! We loved the village. The people were so friendly, and we found the shops had just about everything we needed. We even found oysters in the fish shop! (weekends only). We enjoyed our sessions in the bars and the simple but good food at Bar Piscina. We really did feel we were part of the real Spain - far from the crowds and commercialism of “the costa”. We were spoilt for choice regarding trips out, but particularly enjoyed visits to the Roman theatre and the Caves of Pileta and, of course, Ronda with so much to see, from Arab Baths to Moorish palaces and views from the incredible gorge. This was one of our best holidays and we can’t wait to return in cooler months to explore the very beautiful Grazalema Natural Parc. We were inspired by the owner’s book “Walking in Andalucia” and intend to make good use of it on our next visit! We will certainly recommend Dar Hajra to friends, whether for chilling out in summer, or walking in cooler months through the most magnificent scenery. It would also be a perfect place for a honeymoon!

Great location. Spectacular views.
Enjoyed a quiet break away with my wife. The house is tucked away in an idyllic and commanding spot on the edge of the village and did not disappoint.

Quriky house in an excellent location
As you can see from the photos the house is very quirky, with its outcrops of rock, but is pleasant and well-appointed. The view from the terrace, which gets the sun from mid morning onwards, is amazing. The outside space is quite small but fine for two people. The second (small) bedroom is two flights of stairs away from the only bathroom. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped and there are loads of books in the house. The owner sends detailed and helpful instructions - print them out before you come as there are no copies in the house, and some of them are a bit out of date. The bedroom is fine, albeit a little dank on cool days. The cleaner comes at during the day between 11am and 2pm and stays for about 15 minutes. The owner is very helpful and deals with any questions or requests very quickly and efficiently. The location is brilliant - 10 minutes walk from the centre of the village where there are shops, bars, a basic restaurant and a bakery. The final bit of the drive is up a steep, gravel track.

Stunning Views
We have just returned from a week at Dar Hajra and as soon as we arrived we knew we were in for a special treat. This property really is a hideaway, perched right at the top of a friendly village where doing your daily shop is a pleasure. However, the highlight for us was the amazing terrace where, because of the delightful weather, we spent most of our time. This was equipped with a dining table and comfortable chairs, sun loungers and settee and armchairs all alongside a delightful infinity plunge pool for cooling down on hot, balmy days. However, the real attraction was the absolutely stunning views of the surrounding countryside, not only from the terrace but every area of the house. Inside the rooms have been designed around the natural rocky landscape. Our favourite features were the large bath incorporated into the rocks and the views we could see when sitting up in bed. We spent very little time inside the house, but enjoyed preparing meals in the large and well-equipped kitchen. Our daily visit from Paqui was a treat, not only did she make our beds and tidy up but was willing and patient as we practised our rather rusty Spanish. For those who wish for a flavour of local life in a beautiful setting, this would be hard to beat.

A real treat!
Our winter stay at Dar Hajra was a real treat. When I first stepped in, I really gasped „wow!”. The place is decorated with excellent taste and great attention to detail. The things I particularly liked were the bathtub built into the rock, the kitchen mosaic and the collection of colourful rugs. However, the absolute best of Dar Hajra is the splendid view over the mountains which you can enjoy from anywhere in the house. I can just imagine how great it would be to stay longer on the terrace and use the pool in the warmer months. No doubt we will be back to check it out. Needless to say, the house is clean and well equipped – you'll find all you need for comfortable and relaxing holidays. The wide selection of books about the region was really useful and helped a lot to plan our trips. There are plenty of great tourist attractions to visit within a short distance, but at the end of the day we truly enjoyed spending the quiet evenings by the fireplace. Montecorto is a charming, authentic village surrounded by nature. On the lazy days we would simply go for a walk around finishing it with a coffee or a glass of wine at the small bar close to the church. Our holidays couldn't have been better.

Fabulous views over the valley
Dar Hajra is highly recommended. The two of us had a wonderful holiday. The house was immaculately clean and the housekeeper very attentive to our needs. The views are wonderful from the terrace of what is the highest house in the beautiful village of Montecorto. That and the amazing infinity pool made our stay very special. We enjoyed strolling down to the village to buy our bread and other supplies and everyone was so friendly. Exploring the area was a revelation - so many interesting places to visit but we particularly enjoyed Ronda, Grazalema and Zahara. As recommended by the owner, we caught the train from Ronda down towards the coast on Mr Henderson's railway and stopped off at some of the places en route. Any visitor should make this trip. All in all, a fabulous holiday in a fabulous part of Spain. We will definitely return.

..the heady pleasure of Dar Hajra
We used to stay at El Tejar which I thought was simply wonderful and just when I thought it couldn't get any better the owner went and built Dar Hajra , a truly lovely retreat at the top of the village. My husband booked a surprise break a` deux and we had the run of this amazing place. The house is very comfortable and spacious, its filled with books, paintings, and is very well equipped. For a week we could relax and enjoy one another's company. the terrace with its amazing views never failed to impress and delight, and the pleasure of having breakfast and watching the sun rise was matched by the evening ritual of a chilled bottle of cava and admiring the fabulous sunsets. Dar Hajra is really a wonderful place to feel spoiled and indulged and it was a wonderful escape for the two of us. It is entirely possible to never leave the privacy of the house but we could not resist exploring some of the spectacular countryside as seen from the terrace. Guy was ever helpful and gave some really good directions and we had a few good walks and drives around some pretty villages, stopping off for swims in the lakes and lunches in sweet tucked out of the way places. But we always loved returning to the house and its romantic embrace.

Simply breathtaking
We first heard of the house Dar Hajra from friends in Brussels. They stayed last year and told us that we just have to go too. Well, seeing that we know they have good taste, we booked a week in October this year. We knew that this must be a beautiful place but it was even beyond our expectations. The house is placed high above the village which means you have a incredible view. We spent so much time sat on the dining terrace with a book and glass of wine - it was hard to leave. We like very much the contemporary style of the furnishings and all the very nice paintings and posters, and we also appreciated the collection of films on DVD. There is also maybe 200 Cds of music, with some great Spanish ones, classical, and lots of latino stuff. The bedroom is beautiful and we enjoyed the big bath in the rocks, never saw one like this before! All the equipment in the kitchen was new, lots of sharp knives - I am a chef! - so we had all we needed to make our meals. We thought we would eat out more but once you get here you do not want to leave it. However the little restraurant in the forest beneath the house is friendly and good value. We already book next year but this time two weeks for even more relaxing. Bravo!

Get away
We were here for two weeks in April. If you want to get away from it all then this is the place. Rest. Dream. Plan. Relax. Its a beautiful house in every way. Beds are so comfortable and lovely linen. Weather was variable but a woodburning stove made it so cosy at night. Views spectacular. As always if you like to cook, rental villas have poor knives! And it may be that we were the first visitors of the season for glasses and plates could have done with a once over after winter. However we had fun and the area is stunning if you love to explore. Recommended for the ablebodied and older children.

Comfort and charm in the Ronda mountains
We have recently returned from a week away in Andalusia where we stayed at Dar Hajra. My wife and I agree that the house is one of the most beautiful places we've ever stayed (we travel quite a bit in Europe) and it more than lived up to the expectations raised on the website. We loved the sense of light and space which is created by the high south-facing windows and the way that the rock of the hillside has been incorporated into the house's architecture is stunning. The house feels really secluded yet you can walk down to the village in a little over 5 minutes. Everyone seemed happy to see us and we enjoyed trying out our Spanish in the bars and shops. The house is really well set up for self catering. The kitchen is massive and we found that having such a large fridge was a real advantage. We ate all of our meals on the terrace – on one occasion we watched a pair of eagles hunting over the hillside to the east of the village and the sunsets over the Zahara lake were always special. Highlights of our stay included buying fresh organic vegetables from a neighbour, heading into Ronda for sundowners on the terrace of the Reina Victoria hotel (a must), dinner at a buzzy fish restaurant where we were the only foreigners (recommended by the owners..called 'Bar Moreno I think...) and two great hikes in the Grazalema park (we appreciated the big pack of maps and walking notes which were waiting for us). But most of the time we spent lazing on the terrace next to the pool. All in all we were happy to have chosen this place to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary and are already planning a return trip.
