Perfect stay at a true gem of a farmhouse
We had a wonderful holiday, the perfect blend between out-and-about every day to local markets and towns, lunches, wine and chilled beers in shady squares. Kayaking expedition back to Aubeterre-sur-Dronne. The farmhouse is a wonderful base from which to explore from. Then, after a day out, returning to enjoy the pool (which is magnificent). The pizza oven was awesome and we had great success in making our own pizzas from scratch. So successful in fact that I now need to buy one for home. The farmhouse, with all its facilities, is perfect for all ages from teens (table tennis and pool table - a great hit) to board games for little ones. There are plenty of outside spaces to enjoy whatever time of day, whether it's poolside or at the front to see the rolling views and sunsets. The contact (Jackie) during our stay was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble when we needed assistance for different things. The welcome to the property was made delightful by a variety of food and a bottle of wine, so we did indeed feel most welcomed. We would definitely book again if returning to the area.

Secluded country retreat
A traditional French country house, clean and tidy with good facilities. Bikes were helpfully left at the house for us to use. We enjoyed the table tennis table, darts etc on our evenings in. We sadly didn't have very good weather but the garden area, pool etc would be great in the sun. Montboyer is very quiet but the local restaurant and bakery are worth visiting. The house is in a good location for exploring, we loved Aubeterre and Brantome and also had a great day in Cognac.

A wonderful place to get away from it all!
Superb old farmhouse with a lovely garden in a great area for walking and it's dog-friendly too, such a bonus! It was really quiet and peaceful so if you need to chill out this is definitely for you. The house is really spacious, nicely furnished and as a keen cook I particularly loved the bright and practical kitchen. The local organic boulangerie at the bottom of the hill is to die for and there is a big, recently renovated supermarket about 6km away so no need to go far for food, another plus. The owner is very friendly and helpful and we had a thoroughly enjoyable break!

A fantastic property in a perfect setting
We had a fantastic summer break at Chez Gigon and will certainly return in the future. The cottage is very spacious and comfortable and you sometimes forget it's a 16th century farm building! The setting is perfect - even though there are neighbouring properties you wouldn't realise as it was so quiet and rarely heard anybody else. The surrounding countryside is so scenic with great views from so many places inside and outside. The pool area makes this property. We used it every day - ate every meal on the patio area as well as fun in the pool, and again so quiet and peaceful. Montboyer is a 10-15 minute walk away. Not a lot going on there but the restaurant is first class (recommend the pizzas) and they do takeaway. The boulangerie is great also and provided our breakfast every morning - it's a 10 minute walk down the hill towards Montboyer but it will take you longer to walk back (good fitness training walking back up the hill :-) ). Overall a fantastic stay and would highly recommend.

Perfect break in the most beautiful property!!
Chez Gigon is the most gorgeously decorated and located property in the south of France. We spent a very lazy week there with our two sons 15 & 18 years old. With it's own large private pool, games room, Wifi and plenty of space, they were never bored. The owners have thought of everything and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Montboyer is a beautiful, friendly village. We were surrounded by sunflowers and blue skies. Bliss! Thank you :O) xxx

Lovely, rustic house in beautiful and peaceful location.
We had a great two weeks at Montboyer. The house is well equipped and the grounds are very pleasant, with lots of areas to relax. Beautiful views to the surrounding countryside. We had a lot of fun riding bikes, exercising on the trampoline and swimming. The highlights included long walks and foraging for blackberries, daily trips to buy bread at an amazing bakery down the road (selling organic, sourdough and gluten free bread!), and visits to Cognac, Bordeaux, and many local vineyards.

Incredible first family holiday
We had an absolutely brilliant time in Montboyer. The house was very well equipped for two young families- there was lots to do in the house (swim, table tennis, boules etc) and it is a lovely, spacious home- it felt like we weren't on top of one another. We particularly enjoyed evenings outdoors, either on the terrace by the pool or in the small barn area. We stayed in Montboyer during the heatwave and we received great service from Charles who sought out two extra fans for us to help with sleep at night. The area surrounding the villa is gorgeous and we really enjoyed the views and the walks down to the bakery and the restaurant. The local restaurant is brilliant; the food is delicious and it is so reasonably priced! We enjoyed time in Aubeterre and Saint Aulaye nearby. We would recommend the villa without hesitation- the owner was always very welcoming and helpful before our stay. We had a fantastic two weeks there and we would love to return if the chance arises.

Lovely house; fantastic pool; pleasure to have stayed in
My family and I (2 adults, 2 kids) have just returned from a fantastic stay in Chez Gigon. The house is immaculate, as is the pool. It's spacious, comfortable, very well maintained and has spectacular views. The owners were a pleasure to deal with. The walk to the local bakery, first thing in the morning, past the sunflowers, and corn fields was really memorable. Lots to do nearby. We had a great stay!

A perfect family escape to the country
We had a wonderful stay in this lovely farmhouse. There is a huge amount of space and the swimming pool is secluded, warm and a really good size. The children spent hours in the water and mum and dad spent hours on the sun loungers! Even when it was raining the house was great to spend time in. We have all improved our table-tennis skills and loved completing the jigsaw puzzles. The local village is very small so Chalais was our go to for shops etc. There is a Lidl and Super U and a weekly market. We would recommend this house for families and it is big enough for two families to join forces. Thank you

Lovely week in the farmhouse
I've been going to the Dordogne/Charente area every year for 6-7 years and staying in different houses each time. This place is your classic farmhouse with rustic beams and the like. The house is reasonably well equipped (a few basics like oil, salt & pepper would be nice) and has a 2nd large fridge in the utility room for your beer & wine. A massive bedroom is downstairs with bunk beds and a double that leads off the Kitchen. Two further doubles with en-suites are upstairs but mind your head as the door to one is only 4-5ft high and access to the en-suite in the other bedroom is also impeded by a beam. Good practice for your inner core to duck under them though :). The bathrooms are simple and basic but clean. There is a very nice lounge downstairs and a fabulous games room with a table tennis table to have a break from the sunshine outside. The beautiful pool is accessed through the games room and along a path to a nice patio area. The front of the house has some outdoor space for a bit of cricket and beautiful views across the valley and down into Montboyer. The village has a bakery (although it was closed for two weeks 1st to 15th August when we were there so suspect they go on holiday about then each year) and a nice restaurant, The Bistrot Des Halles. If you want to book in the restaurant, pop in and ask as it is booked up quite quickly as only around 40-45 covers. Ignore the restaurant website as it wrongly said it was closed on Wednesdays and they don't respond to emails. Overall a good place to stay with a very nice pool

Beautiful house for family holiday.
We had a wonderful stay in Montboyer. We were there for a week with two families with teenagers. We had a wonderful time with enough to do and enough space for everyone. Contact with the owner and with the person that takes care of everything on location was excellent. Thanks for your hospitality and I am sure we will be back.
