"Not worth its 4.8 star rating. We suspect that many guests are not quite honest because the host, Sandrine, is such a nice person. Kind, bilingual, and helpful. We have long hesitated to write an honest review, but we do feel the need to warn upcoming guests about what to expect. When everything was new, a few decades ago, the converted barn must have been truly amazing. Now, sadly, the place is not kept up. What was good: the bed linens and towels were fresh and clean. "The very kind hostess gave us great advice during our weeklong stay. The gite is fantastic - comfortable beds, ample bathrooms, and nicely equipped kitchen. Avernes is a lovely town, close to many other small villages and beautiful countryside, but also easy drive to Monet’s house and gardens and larger towns. The restaurant in town offers delicious food, and the butcher is well provisioned…both an easy walk from the gite. Highly recommended, Thanks Sandrine!"

"Accueillis par Christophe et Stephanie, tout simplement adorable. Le logement est clean, proche commerce et gare. La douche est un peu froide car le ballon d’eau doit être assez petit donc ne pas prendre de longues douches,le lave vaisselle ne nettoie pas très bien. Nous étions un groupe de 15 amis et cela correspondait parfaitement à notre besoin. Au delà de ça, le logement est magnifique, le jardin aussi. Nous reviendrons."

"Staying in this house was a fun and unique experience, that helped bring our family together. The house is the cleanest I have ever seen. The inside is modern with features such as automatically closing blinds, we found the owners to be very friendly and responsive. The yard is beautiful with a nice view of the French hill sides and both the grass and flowers are well maintained with a tree line defining the boundary of the yard. One bathroom has a toilet and sink, there is another bathroom...

"Perfect for our few days in Paris! Great room size & comfy beds. Clean - and omg best house keeping ever!!! Always important is shower pressure - good pressure & hot water. It’s the small things when travelling!! Close to 3 different metro stations which made getting around easy. A supermarket & many patisserie’s close by. Ever so helpful reception staff - especially when teenager locked herself out of the room!! Would stay here again!!"

"Very comfortable accommodation. Clean, quiet and private. Loved the little kitchenette that was fully equipped with everything we needed including a dishwasher! The staff was very welcoming and helpful when we needed but gave us space when we didn’t. The location was out of the way enough to be affordable but only a short walk or bus ride to the M1 subway that brings you directly to the big tourist sites. Would definitely recommend! "

"Property was clean. Had a gym for us to use and a sauna, which unfortunately wasn’t working during our stay. The free snacks and hot drinks available 24/7 were a great addition included in the price. The best thing about our stay was the friendly staff, including reception and cleaning staff. We want to epically thank Hugo who was welcoming and very helpful."
