family reunion and baseball
This property checked several boxes for our reunion: great location, safe neighborhood, close to Target Field and Mall of America, space for all to sleep, nice washer and dryer. However the host's standard of cleanliness is far different from mine. . Overall this space need a through deep cleaning. It smells musty and there was a notable layer of dust on everything. This made it not a place we were happy to be in at the end of the day. I won't return.

Great location - cluttered house
The pictures posted are definitely from this house, however, they are from many years when the host was on the market to be sold. There is twice as much furniture/stuff in the house than the pictures show. The caretaker was very responsive and the location is good. In order for listing to accurately represent the property, new photos should be posted.

peace and comfort
The house is on a quiet street with a lovely backyard. The children were enchanted by bunnies on the lawn and baby robins in a nest. The house has old-fashioned country charm with comfortable beds and lots of big TV screens. The area has lots of bicycling trails which we love.

Great location
It was ok. It sleeps 14 if you use all the sofa, futon and trundles but it did not have enough space for everyone to gather in one room. The dining room is dark and way too much furniture that is not useable. Some of the bedroom storage was already filled with items(maybe if the homeowner). Some of the closets with extra bedding had a mildew smell so didn’t use it. Overall it worked but my advice to the owner would be to make the furniture more purposeful and not just to fill the space with useless things. The owner was slow to respond and when I requested to change my dates i felt ignored and ended up paying for nights I didn’t need. Communication with the owner was terrible. The yard is nice with tables and umbrellas with a bbq. Kitchen was clean and had spices and some staples. Great location for just about everything.

Stay Away! Dirty, cluttered, smelly, no response from owner
I wish I could post pictures. This property is not cleaned or maintained. Antiques replaced with garage-sale cast offs. Owner contacted immediately but never responded. Booked five night but couldn’t take it after one night. -Boxes of booze bottles and other trash in driveway - Rotting pumpkin outside entry door - Food-stained kitchen cupboards and oven - Oven door dripping with some milky substance - Mildew smell pervading house - Used shampoo bottles in bathrooms with soap dripping down sides - Used, grimy bath toys on tub rims - Pubic hair on bathroom wall! - Bedroom with mahogany 4-poster bed with sleep number mattress? Nope. Sagging mattress on plain old bed frame. That bedroom had a refrigerator, hot plate and some kind of warming tray. Looks like someone is squatting here. This property should does not represent VRBOs usual quality. We contacted VRBO to report this property.

Nice place for a family reunion
It was a pleasant vacation meeting family members in a house with a lot of antiques and holiday decorations. The house is really warm, cozy and relaxing. I can tell that the owner has put a lot of efforts in decorating the house, in an old fashion that young generation would never appreciate. My family loved it and felt like home. We texted Jim before arriving, asking for a Christmas tree. When we got there, the tree was up with lights turned on. On a heavy snow night, we messaged Jan for some plumbing issue, she sent Mr. Appleby to resolve the problem right away. They responded to the request quickly. The house is at a cul de sac in a safe and quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed family walk after every dinner. We are so happy that we made a good choice for this good location, nice neighborhood, reasonable pricing, cozy house for Christmas. Thank you Jan and Jim for the host. Ping ans family

Comfy long term stay
Jim’s place is a great home away from home. We stayed ten weeks with our family of five and were very comfortable. Enough room for everyone to have their own space, plus office desk, fast internet, big TV, large yard and outdoor entertaining space, and fun puzzles and games. Close to regional bike trail and Meadow Park with tennis courts and walking paths. Jim was friendly and responsive to all of our concerns.

Problems with cleanliness and photos no longer portray the shape the property is in
The floors and dishes were dirty and many of the dishes needed cleaning before use. If you are paying a cleaning fee, you would expect to arrive to a clean house. The grounds are not well taken care of and foliage is overgrown. The photos listed do not accurately display the condition of the home and property. There was a bee's nest in the backyard and 2 of our family members were badly stung. Hazards as such should be professionally removed for the safety of visitors. There is lots of clutter on the grounds (7 grills - many of them did not work so I didnt understand why they were all there) and many unnecessary pieces of furniture in bedrooms and living spaces that made it feel cluttered. There were also no check out instructions listed. Good things about this place is that it could easily fit a large family and the host was responsive but we do not have plans to stay here again.

Issues with cleanliness
Floors were not clean in any area. Dust, food crumbs, coin, etc. Dishes and silverware needed to be washed before being used. Property could be beautiful but needs a complete cleaning and removal of excess clutter. No checkout instructions. If I pay a cleaning fee I would expect a clean space upon arrival.

This home met all our needs for our family gathering of 6 adults and 4 young children
We had a good family gathering at this "home away." The house was clean and the yard offered good space for toddlers to run and play. Neighborhood was quiet and safe. Beds were comfortable for all to sleep on. Kitchen was well equipped. Thank you for letting us use your "home away" for our family gathering. Inside the house was more "crowded" with furniture than pictures showed, especially the lower level. The family room/recreation room in the lower level was so packed with furniture and assorted beds (including queen bed, some sort of sofa bed, and futon) that it was difficult to walk around the room. It offered no space for people to sit and talk. Otherwise, the home was a relaxing and safe place for 3 generations of our family to gather, ages 64 to 9 months.

The house worked out great for our family!! Really appreciated the the 3 levels! Bathroom on each level and a TV in every room. Dining room and living room areas were great to socialize and gather, but also nice spaces for privacy. The house was a bit cluttered, but had everything you could possibly need and then some! Washer and dryer were very convenient for our 9 night stay. Kitchen area was nice size and adequate. Again had plenty of dishes, glasses, etc. We would absolutely come back!! Jim, the owner communicated very well and provided a no hassle , no problem, delivered as promised experience. Thank you Jim and thank you VRBO!

Neighborhood Retreat
In the cities for a wedding. I grew up here, moved away and had 11 other family and friends coming for this event. Wedding was downtown, but it took only 15 minutes to get there from our location. Having beds, bathrooms, a full kitchen, so many places to hang out (outside yard was wonderful), a big table to eat together or play games was SO MUCH better than separate hotel rooms. 2 washer/dryer units, irons, hair dryers, towels. etc. etc. etc. I am all about family and this was the best stay for all of us outside of an all inclusive resort in Mexico that we have ever stayed at. Would book again in a heartbeat. Greg

The pictures of this house do not reflect the current condition of the house.
I do not usually write reviews but in this case I felt a need to make an exception. This house was very disappointing as it was far from what was reflected in the pictures. When we arrived, the door with the code was open and the lights were on. The house, in general, was not clean. There was food in the refrigerator and dishes in the dishwasher. The refrigerator and stove were dirty. The shelves and the drawers in the kitchen had not been cleaned in a very long time. There were dishes with food stuck to them in the cupboards and greasy, dirty silverware in the drawers. The sinks and the toilets were questionable. The sheets and the towels did not appear to be recently laundered. The floors were dirty and we were unable to put our 1 year-old on the floor. Your feet would be black if you walked barefoot in the house. Additionally, we found the garbage cans were completely full for the first 5 days of our stay. Nothing was posted in the house to indicate garbage pick up days or emergency numbers, etc. There was water leaking up through the bathroom floor in the basement. The dryer squealed the entire cycle. We thought the TV in the living room was not working for the first few days until we discovered the wall plug was dead. There was a snowfall while we were there and it would have been nice to have a fire in the fireplace except that there was a heavy couch positioned in front of the fireplace. There were several pieces of furniture placed haphazardly in the house. The basement bedroom actually looked more like a storage unit than a bedroom. The first night we were unable to cook a meal without doing considerable cleaning first. We were able to speak with the owner after spending almost an hour on hold with HomeAway. The owner ultimately hired a "cleaning service" to come in for 2 hours the next day. We had to pack up and move our things to the car and vacate for a few hours. The cleaning service turned out to be a woman and a teenage boy. They did the best they could in 2 hours but it would have taken at least a couple of days to make the house liveable. Be aware that you are on your own to settle with the owner. We would have left if there had been a refund, but couldn't afford to leave without money back. HomeAway took no responsibility for the condition of this house and wasn't able or willing to advocate for us with the owner.
