This property is the first floor and basement (2 bedrooms) of a very large 100+ year old home. While it has been divided to make 3 apartments it still has a lot of character. Nice quiet neighborhood and 3 blocks from a fabulous grocery co-op and other restauraunts.
I love all the woodwork on the first floor (its what made me select the place), but the owner needs to spend some $$ to fix it up, its really looking tired. They also need to put a little more effort into trimming the yard.
Its the whole first floor and basement of a large house. There are separate apts above (Not connected other then front entrance) There was some confusion with one of the apt tenets about parking, but they were nice and we easily figured out a solution.
All in all I liked it and like I said, the woodwork is amazing. I would stay here again.

Misleading
Listing indicates on-site parking; therefore, we parked in the driveway. Upstairs tenants knocked on door and told us we couldn’t park there and had to move vehicle to the street; closest spot on street was a block away. When we were getting settled in our rooms, my son and his friend found a dead mouse in plain sight near a storage area. House sleeps 6, but there were only 4 bath towels. Also, could not get hot water in upstairs shower and downstairs shower had minimal water pressure. Floors were very uneven. TV was difficult to operate until we finally found the correct remote (which was dead) buried in the couch. Sliding glass door in the back did not have a code for entry; felt unsafe. Woke to car alarm in the middle of the night and witnessed attempted home invasion across the street. Only pros were price and location; (though sketchy) was close to a lot of things to do.
The house is beautiful and the wood work is amazing.
The first floor bathroom tub needs repair, the tub is cracked and it feels unsafe to stand to shower.
The kitchen did not have a can opener; which was needed to open the cans for our Green beans casserole.
Thank goodness I live locally because I was able to bring my own pots and pans, casseroles dishes, can opener, and peeler.
Also, there was no dishwasher soap and I had to do all the dishes by hand.
Overall, we had a wonderful time.

Fun Neighborhood
It was a fun little apartment, full of character! It was was really spacious for our family of four and our four legged Lolli pup. We hosted a dinner with other family members and there was plenty of space and the dining room made for a nice intimate setting. We would have liked an email letting us know check in information and parking information. A toaster to make toast for breakfast, would be a nice touch. And, during our stay the sliding glass door and garbage disposal were not working. The door came off the track and was extremely difficult to open and close.
This is a beautiful house, with rich history and good bones, but it is needs some attention. The neighborhood is full of rich history and beauty, but the lawn has definitely not been cared for at all this season with weeds and grass standing nearly 3 feet high…so high and unkempt it is difficult to see the front entrance. Others in the neighborhood work to keep their places looking so beautiful and historic, but this place is unfortunately a blight on the area.
This house has been made into three separate apartments, and the neighbors are quiet both day and night. However, the Entrance to the house smells of a mixture of old garbage and litterbox, which permeates the entire rental. The rugs appear dirty and can be tripping hazards because they have not been properly secured to the floor, several of the blinds are broken or do not fit this windows, preventing privacy to main rooms on the first floor. The basement could definitely benefit from a dehumidifier.
The beds are comfortable and clean, which was appreciated. The bathrooms were clean, but there were only two washcloths with the four towels we needed for our family.
We felt safe and moderately comfortable. We just so wish the pictures and description matched our expected experience.
This was a great place for my parents stay last weekend while they visited. They enjoyed the character of this charming old house with a few modern touches, as well as the convenient location. They would definitely stay here again!

Place is a dump
The place is a dump. Musty smell, cob job electrical fixtures. Everything is homemade and cheap. Not even close to being worth the price. Would never stay there again

Parents Weekend Stay
This house has some beautiful details, but the pictures are a bit deceiving. I think this house could be amazing, but it hasn’t been renovated to that level. Regardless, the sheets, towels, and surfaces were very clean and that was great. The property does state “parking available” and when you click on All Amenities” it states “parking on site.” When we arrived we could not see where we should park without blocking others in. I contacted the host and he told me that “neighborhood parking” was what they offer. That is street parking. It ended up being somewhat inconvenient. We did book this place because the wording states onsite parking was part of the stay. So, this house met our needs and was fine, but I don’t think I would book it again.
For great access? This has a great location and great access to everything downtown and to the interstates around it.

It was ok
Its an old house. Expect the wood floors to be creaky with every step. There were renters upstairs that like to stay up late on weekends and play loud music. You can also hear every word they're saying. On our last night the machinery in the basement started to make a loud constant screeching sound that lasted from 3am to when we left. Lets just say no one got any sleep and was not able to get in touch with the host. Good location for people who like to party. Weeds in front of house was overgrown, nothing like the pictures. And street parking was always full, we always had to park a couple blocks away. Location was good close to restaurants, downtown and the lake. Beds were comfy, washrooms clean and water pressure was amazing. Due to the late night noise and an unfortunate screeching noise from the basement our last night, I can confidently say we would not stay here again.
had to park a couple blocks away
The outside of this old home was unkempt. Tall weeds filled the front yard and volunteer trees grew near the foundation. There was no porch light. The steps leading to the house were steep and narrow. There was no light in the foyer. The foyer had an unpleasant smell. You enter this rental you there is a curled-up carpet, a trip hazard. This is the only rental I've been in that did not provide a notebook welcoming us to the home. Usually, information like how to connect to the WiFi, how to use the TV, restaurants in the neighborhood, attractions, etc. are provided by the host. The woodwork in the dining and living room was beautiful but the entire rental had dust, dirt, mildew, and mold. It was unclean. The downstairs bathroom shower leaked and the bathmat was saturated. If you want to cook in the kitchen after sunset, bring your lighting. It was dark in there. The stairs going downstairs are plastered and chipped. It looked like mold was growing through the plaster. Dead flies on the window ledge were present. There was no handrail at the top of the stairs. The floors on the main level were creaky as were the floors above this rental. I had difficulty reaching the owners and I should have canceled. I do not recommend this "Victorian Retreat" rental due to safety and sanitation concerns.
Brief stay in the heart of Minneapolis, loved the experience!
Loved the historic house and location, woodwork is beautiful! House is just as described, doors could have been labeled a little better. I intruded on other tenants looking for our space. Other than that, was great! Would stay there again.
We had two family members celebrating milestone birthdays, June 10 and 11, and we needed a place where we could gather and celebrate. This home is wonderful and in an excellent and historic location. It's a short walk from the local grocery co-op and other restaurants and establishments. It's close to parks, scooter rentals, and public transportation. It's a short drive to many of the downtown Minneapolis venues and has easy access to the interstate system. This home is pleasantly and amply equipped with the usual supplies for the kitchen, bathrooms and cleaning. The only challenge, which isn't related to the owner, it that the street parking can be tricky. The owner was quick to respond with inquiries and questions either via the app and/or by phone. We highly recommend the Heart of Uptown - Victorian Retreat!
