Quaint Beachfront Cottage, Panoramic Bay Views! Sleeps 8, Pet Friendly

Enjoy panoramic ocean/bay views from the sunroom of this quaint beach cottage. You will be greeted with rustic charm in the quiet town of Broadkill Beach. Surrounded by a nature preserve, this family friendly neighborhood is sure to have something for everyone. Conveniently located near Rehoboth/Lewes beaches for shopping and dining. Prefer the fresh air of nature? Kayaking, fishing, and miles of beach are right outside the front door. See for yourself why Broadkill Beach is a hidden treasure.

Love Rehoboth, but want a break from the crowds? Want peace and quiet in a natural setting? Then rent on direct beach/bayfront on the white sandy Broadkill Beach on Delaware Bay....just a dozen country miles NW of Rehoboth. Beach comb, fish, canoe, hike the wildlife preserve, golf, enjoy the bay view from a huge porch. We hope you can come see for yourself! Enjoy the natural setting, the natural beauty, the natural quiet!

Broadkill Beach, where the house is located, is a quiet old fishing village that is entirely residential (all single family homes), and one quaint country store. The town is NW of Rehoboth/Lewes, close enough to hop in the car to hit the outlets, restaurants, or the boardwalk, but far enough that you enjoy peace and quiet. Broadkill's sandy beach is great for sandcastles, kayaking, beach combing, and the huge wildlife refuge (Primehook) is another attraction. A few miles inland is historic Milton, home of a huge collection of Victorian era architecture, bookshop, antique shops, ice cream parlor, as well as being the home of a couple of Delaware's 19th century governors--there large homes are still there. This is truly an area for all kinds of vacation tastes.

Together, the beach, the country store, and the cottage create a 'Summer of '42' type setting (as my neighbor calls it). The house was built while the baby boomer's were still riding skate boards and the 'greatest generation' was still the 'working generation'. We have, in fact, summer patrons who came here first as children themselves, and they now bring their grand children. The cottage includes a huge porch and a deck.

The cottage also includes the living room, and 3 bedrooms. The one full bath and one half bath inside is complemented by a shower stall outside. There is more parking than you can use, complements of Broadkill's low density of housing. Lastly, the house and the porch face on direct beach/bay front. At night you can see the twinkling lights of Cape May, as well as the pitching and rolling lights of the Lewes-Cape May Ferry.

Great location, like a private beach
We absolutely loved our stay at seaside. Great for the dogs to run on the beach. Close enough to everything but not too close. Lots of great food and fun in downtown Milton. Highly recommend if you’re looking for vintage North East beach vibes.

The location on the dunes is fantastic yet the cottage isn’t too fancy. Perfect for family gatherings, beach walks and enjoying nature. The wifi is strong so you can continue to work remotely.

Out of the Way Beach House
Quick access to the beach, beautiful views from the porch, this 3 bedroom home had everything we needed. Maybe a larger TV and a Kuerig could be added, but otherwise a good time was had by all.

What a nice beach cottage! Beautiful views of the bay. The beach was great and not crowded .The home is charming and was perfect for us. Having a washer and dryer is nice so you are not bringing home wet suits and clothes towels.

Quiet and Cozy
We spent a week with our daughter’s family at this Delaware Beach cottage. It’s a simple, clean and comfortable venue. The beach is the attraction when weather permits. The town of Lewes is close for interesting shopping, many restaurants, and kids activities like the pirate ship and the bounce house.

Broadkill Beach
My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay. First time in Broadkill and definitely not the last. Would most definitely stay at this rental again. We spent our whole time in the all season room with the wonderful view. Super peaceful and lots to do in the surrounding communities! Definitely would recommend.

Perfect location in Broadkill Beach
I've been to Broadkill Beach several times, staying in different homes each visit. We were traveling this time to see the spawning of the horseshoe crabs that takes place in the spring, timing the trip during the full moon in May. (And we're not disappointed -- lots right on the beach that night, and more to see at the DuPont Nature Center on the way home.) Being right on the beach was wonderful, because we could easily pop over the dune to check out the crabs, and when we were inside, the view from the enclosed porch was fantastic. My husband and I had the twin beds, which were comfortable and provided a good night's sleep. The owners of the property quickly answered any questions and the house comfortably met the needs of two couples aged 50+, and I would definitely consider renting again in the future. I would bring my own cookware, as the pans available were limited and tired, but we were only there a few days, so no worries. If you're looking for fancy new construction, this isn't the house for you, but if you appreciate a charming beach cottage with a bit of sway on the pilings, a stunning view, and easy access to the beach, you've found a good one!

Loved it!
Great location, fabulous porch with view of the sea, modest and comfortable home: everything I like in a beach house. In April there are no bugs so we also enjoyed the deck. Huge sandy beach with very few people. Close to Prime Hook preserve for birding and walking. Cape Henlopen has dedicated trails that would be great for biking with kids (popular and busy though). We kayaked from Milton, cute park and old town. Pay attention to the tides to know how hard you want to kayak back… Enjoy!

Beautiful getaway!
I had a wonderful time at Broadkill Beach. The location is away from the busy popular beaches but close enough to go to the restaurants and activities. I loved being able to bring my dog. We got up every morning to beautiful sunrises and flipping horseshoe crabs. The house was just as described. I have no complaints. We spent almost all the time that we were “home” in the relaxing front room with ocean and nature views and peaceful birdsong. Could not be happier. I hope we can come again next spring!

Seaview
Great location with ocean view. Had much of the neighborhood to ourselves (winter). Quiet and contemplative space; pet friendly so relaxed about bringing ours. No problem with the Wi-Fi, but phone signal was weak. Heat and water were great, nice windows. Some of the furniture needs replacing or reupholstering, like the couch and master bed and living room chair cushions, respectively. Overall very comfortable and we would stay there again.

Magical Vacation
We brought two grandchildren, ages 2 + 3 to enjoy some special time at the beach.. We visited Milton and the beautiful park/playground and Rehoboth for a day. We did a Pirate ship excision out of Lewes thst was great fun for kids. The house was great + the cousins shared the twin bedroom which was perfect for them. They were facinated by the bunk beds, but not quite ready for that yet. Having 2 bathrooms was a plus! We loved the enclosed porch + ate our meals + did some crafts + watched the birds. Being able to have a fire + toast marshmallows under the stars was amazing. A little bit of a hike fir a 2 + 3 year old on the path to the beach, but we brought a beach wagon + did fine. We lappreciated our special time together at this house on the bay.

Great Location but needs updating
Paying for location. Home is dated. Needs new furnishings and updated appliances. The washing machine shakes the entire house and bangs so loud the children were scared of it. Barely any thing to prepare meals with. Everything was ancient. Not one sharp knife. Only one small television makes it hard to entertain little ones. This would be a nice rental for an older couple.

Location was great but house was filthy.
Sand is expected at a beach house but there were cobwebs on the ceiling, etc. that you can tell have been there for years, hair in tub drain, dead bug on cupboard behind door. My son in law had to clean dust from behind fridge that wasn't working properly. Definitely not worth cleaning fee charged.

Love love love this beach house!
We stayed for a week at the end of August 2020. Myself, husband, and our two young boys (1.5 and 3). The location is absolutely perfect. Right on the beach with a nice path from the house to the beach. There is an outdoor patio w/ charcoal grill and plenty of space under the house for beach chairs, umbrellas, floats etc. In fact the house itself was pretty well stocked with sand toys, chairs and umbrellas for guest use. There are actually two outdoor showers. One is enclosed and private. The other is on the deck walkway at the bottom of the exterior stairs and we actually only used this shower. It’s perfect for kids. There is a small outdoor deck off the enclosed porch that is big enough for a table and more chairs (for guests to bring). It also is perfect for drying towels and bathing suits. The house itself is such a classic beach house that is reminiscent of the 1960’s-1970’s but is upgraded with basic modern comforts. In particular, the central air conditioning is excellent. There’s a washer & dryer; both work very well. They are older which means a full load of laundry will take 1/4 the amount of time it takes with new machines. This was handy for us with little kids. No dishwasher, so bring dish soap. The kitchen is well stocked for a week at the beach and includes handy items such as a very large bowl (this was perfect for a batch of pasta salad). The house is furnished with older/vintage furniture - like a classic beach house should be. There are also vintage items that are fabulous like an old radio, childs chair and even a high chair. One suggestion I have for those with young children like we have: there is a console table with a large cabinet in the kitchen under the phone. Place the irreplaceable and breakable decor items in this cabinet and lock with your child lock. Then return the items to their places before you leave. This is what we did to prevent our kids from breaking anything. Bring binoculars or a telescope for watching ships in the bay. You will wish you had them if you don’t! The enclosed porch is fabulous. Open all the windows and relax. Eat at the large picnic table with the ocean breeze. The beds have blankets and pillows but I recommend bringing your own bedding and pillows. This is what we did and it’s just easier for everyone. There are megabloks for kids and numerous games. I’ve run out of characters but could write much more. It’s a wonderful house!

Relaxing with gorgeous setting
We chose this rental to relax away from the beach crowds and it did not disappoint! Super quiet relaxed neighborhood. Just a few people around during our stay, all friendly. Amazing screened in porch/sunroom with wide water view right against the dunes with beautiful plantings, bunnies, foxes and deer! Loved being able to walk right down to the beach with our pup any time of day and having the outdoor showers to clean off. The house is charming and comfortable with everything we needed. The Broadkill store was a nice little walking destination with basics, ice cream, donuts and pizza too. Also enjoyed day trips to Lewes and Rehoboth. Just be aware of the land breezes that bring the biting flies! A perfect, relaxing getaway!
