The "little house" is located in the small village of Moreanes located in the Vale do Guadiana National Park, in the Baixo Alentejo Province, close to Mina de São Domingos and Mertola. The uniqueness of its location must be integrated among many other small houses. The insertion of the "little house" in this National Park offers contact with some species of flora and fauna that are close to extinction and also offers a place for reading, peaceful meditation and work.
The “little house” is located in the small village of Moreanes located in the Vale do Guadiana National Park, in the Baixo Alentejo Province. The uniqueness of its location is due to being integrated in the middle of many other small houses. Over 100 years old, in the old days it was used as a barbershop, small pub, sports association and, recently, as a residence. It was rebuilt in 2015 using traditional local techniques and materials (rammed earth) to meet nature and culture at their purest stage. The small house has two bedrooms, a living/dining/kitchen room and a bathroom that can accommodate four people. It has air conditioning and a stove to prepare for the winter/summer temperature ranges. Mértola, a museum city, located on the bank of the Guadiana River is just 10 kilometers away. Mértola is a place full of history and an exceptional attraction for scientific archeology research in the pre-Roman, Roman and Islamic periods. Mértola was a very important and strategic city in these different periods and is a candidate for UNESCO World Heritage Site. From Mértola a boat can be taken 70 kilometers down the river, reaching the beautiful beaches of the Algarve. By road, it will only take 45 minutes to reach the Algarve. On the other hand, the “little house” is 7 kilometers from the São Domingos Mine, an old mineral area that was explored, from 1858 to 1965, for pyrite by the English Mason & Berry Society. The sulfur was produced from the mineral waste of a factory built for this purpose. The history of exploration can be seen in many places walking around the village. Mina de São Domingos also offers a large, very charming lake, which in summer is a pleasant place to have a drink, a snack or a pleasant swim. The lake has a blue EU flag. Not far from the “little house” is the village of Pomarão, a river port from which pyrite was sent to England. A small bridge connects it to Spain, where some nearby villages can be visited. Around the “little house” and in In different closed villages there are many small restaurants where delicious regional food is waiting to be enjoyed. The insertion of the “little house” in the Guadiana Valley National Park offers contact with some species of flora and fauna that are close to extinction. and also offers a place for reading and peaceful meditation.
