This is a nice house for a few days at the lake. A few things to note, since the pictures didn't make it clear:
- This house is not on the water, nor does it have water views (except maybe in the winter). They do mention this, but don't get confused by the pictures of the beach like my husband did! It's maybe a 3 minute walk to the water, though, so you're very close.
- The house was very clean and tidy. This is coming from a neat freak, so I mean it. The house also had all bed linens and bath towels, which is a nice change of pace. Do bring your own beach towels!
- You're about a 10-min drive from Meredith Center.
- The closets are padlocked, cupboards empty, and fridge totally bare, so you need to bring your own stuff outside of plates/flatware, cooking gear, dish soap/sponge, and a broom. This is a little different from most VRBOs we've stayed at, where pantry staples are left by other renters as goodwill. It's not an issue, though- just be aware and bring your own coffee and ketchup!
- The layout is as follows: you walk into the front door, which is a converted basement area. There's an entry and a hall into a bedroom with a full-size bed and the mini sleeping loft, which has 2 twin mattresses. There's a full bath off this bedroom. If you go up the stairs, you land in a big, sunny living room and sun porch area with lots of comfy seating. The new kitchen is off of the living room. The hall to the 2 other bedrooms is off the kitchen: one has 2 twin beds and the other has a full bed. There's another full bathroom with tub. Off of the sun porch is the deck and enclosed porch.
- Anne was excellent to arrange things with- we texted her whenever we had questions and everything was very smooth. They even have a 20+ page booklet on the house and things to do; the restaurant recommendations are great!
- The owners stay nearby and may stop in if they see fit/drive by in a car (and a scooter, I think) a few times. The house also has a Ring camera doorbell so they can see who comes/goes, and motion sensors in the places they don't want you poking around (the padlocked master, the garage). This is their home, so we understood the concern of renting it out- as a former rental property owner myself, I get it! If you're weary of "Big Brother," though, just take note.
Overall, we had a great stay and experience at the lake!
