Tiny home atop Lookout Mountain- The Royal Iris

The Royal Iris is a custom built tiny home located just 3 miles from the heart of Mentone, Alabama. It is located inside of a tiny home neighborhood with access to a dog park and a few common areas within the neighborhood. It is within a short driving distance of hiking trails, waterfalls, and miles of mountain top views along Lookout Mountain. It's the perfect space to help you escape for a quick weekend getaway in a very unique space!

We live less than 10 minutes from the property and are available if you have any problems during your stay.

The house is located within a tiny home community. You will have the chance to see other tiny homes while walking around the neighborhood. We just ask that you are respectful of other homeowner's privacy.

The entire house is available for you to use during your stay. The only thing we ask you not to use is the washer/dryer. It is a combo unit and is not operated as normal washers and dryers would be.

The Royal Iris is a 320 square foot custom built tiny home. The main bedroom is in the loft of the house but there is also a sofa bed in the living room for extra sleeping space if needed. There is satellite television and WiFi available to you during your stay, however the cell service is very limited. It is meant to be a space to help you unplug and enjoy the nature around you

Please note that this is a pet friendly home but we do have the following rules for all pets:
-there is a $25 per pet/per night fee that must be paid after booking
-no cats
-maximum of 2 pets
-pets are not allowed on any furniture or in the loft

51 Anniversary
We live only 25 minutes from the Royal Iris. We have always talked about taking a trip close to home. And we have always wanted to stay in a tiny home. The Royal Iris had everything that a larger home has. It was a quiet neighborhood and very easy to find. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

No cell or phone service is dangerous
The property has no cell service and the owners haven't been gracious enough to provide phone service. This was not made 100% clear in the ad (not stated in the ad at all) and that information was only provided to me after I made the reservation with no refund possible. I had car trouble and was unable to turn my car off or it would not start again. The fact that there is no cell service meant that if I turned the car off I had no way to reach out to anyone for assistance. I do have AAA. I am a 68 year old woman and it was terrifying the thought of being stranded in the wilderness and having to roam the streets looking for help. So I had to pack up my car after only one nights stay and head for home at 8 pm in the evening. It was a 9 hour drive that took my 14 hours because I had to drive through the entire night without turning my car off and no sleep. If there had been a medical emergency or an emergency of any kind, I fear the outcome would have been terrible with no way to call for help. I asked the owners for just a one day refund (reserved 4 days) and I never heard a word back. If you have any concerns about being stranded in the wilderness with no way to call for help, I would recommend you stay away from this property.

Clean, but very bad cigarette smell!
The property was clean and perfect for our needs, but the overwhelming smell of cigarettes in the tiny house was not as expected at all, even the ice from the refrigerator tasted like cigarettes. We had to wash all of your clean clothes and leave our luggage outside when we got home. 😔

Tiny home getaway
This was the perfect little place to celebrate my best friend’s 40th birthday! It was cute, comfortable and quiet! Only downside is there is no WiFi and you must go into town for internet.

Birthday getaway
The only complaint I had was the counter space around the sink in the bathroom. If they could put in some shelves for all the things they have on the counter it would free up space for guest to use.

Awesome Tiny House
My family of three and our foster dog stayed in this lovely tinyhouse, and it was wonderful. The house was clean, well kept and had all of the amenities we were looking for. The only downside (if you can call it that) was the lack of internet/tv/cell reception. We had a nice semi-unplugged vacation in a beautiful location, and all of us enjoyed it.

Tiny home first
This is the first time we’ve stayed in a tiny home. It was very cute with plently of room for everything. We had an issue with power for the first night, but it was handled first thing the next morning- with care sincere apologies. Loved the community- easy to walk around with my dog- and there’s even a dog park in the neighbor hood! The pictures are a bit misleading- there was no balcony with a view. Overall it was a great stay- and look forward to coming back!

Nice overnight stay
The tiny home was a fun quick overnight trip stop. Close to the main area of Mentone, the home was at the entrance of a tiny home community, but there is a thin wood line between the properties that provided some privacy. We were very pleased with the home, it felt pretty new. The area has spotty cell coverage, and the property has metered internet that they ask you to use sparingly, so don't expect to jump on a zoom meeting while there like I did!

Great Couples Getaway!
We had the best time staying here! It was a bit crowded with 2 adults, a 2yo, and a large dog, but that’s on us. It would be absolutely perfect for one or two people. It was a nice escape from the day-to-day, and a nice sort of “off the grid” break without phone/internet service! Would definitely come back on a weekend when Mentone is more active! (Most places in the area are closed Monday-Wednesday)
