Legacy on the Lake is located on the panoramic point in Lake Lahusage where the East, West and Middle Forks of the Little River converge. This exquisite home is a dramatic blend of Arts and Crafts and rustic styles, constructed using stone and reclaimed wood from the historic Lahusage Hotel which formerly stood on this site. The 180-room Lahusage Hotel and the Lake Lahusage dam were built in the 1920’s by during the heyday of the area's coal mining boom.
The majesty of this home and its private setting on the Lake Lahusage Point are simply breathtaking. East, West, and Southern views of Lake Lahusage can be enjoyed from the deck that extends the entire length of the home, and from the covered wrap-around porch. The large, wooded lot slopes gently to the lake, which is accessible by a wooden multi-level walkway that leads to a large floating dock. Evening views of the softly lit wooden walkway to the dock from the home’s elevation are magical!
This four bedroom, three bath home is luxuriously decorated in an Adirondack style showcasing hickory, willow, and primitive furnishings, original art, and accessories created by local area craftsmen and artists. There are pine floors throughout the home, all accented with vibrant geometric kilim rugs, and granite countertops in the kitchen and all three bathrooms.
The home’s first story features an open floor plan encompassing the Great Room, Kitchen, and Dining Room. The private Master Suite, Laundry Closet, Powder Room, and screened Game Room are also on the first floor. An abundance of windows, including two sets of French doors that lead from the Great Room to the covered porch, flood the entire living area with natural light and provide spectacular views of the lake.
The Kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances and features granite countertops, Cuisinart cookware, a Vinotemp wine refrigerator, and a bar with four barstools. Small appliances include an extra-large crock pot, coffee maker, Oven with Air Fryer, coffee bean grinder, can opener, and blender. There is also a 20-jar revolving countertop spice tower. There are two sets of matching dishes for 10+ guests, one Stoneware and the other Melamine. The Dining Room features a phenomenal primitive hickory Dining Table with six chairs crafted by an award-winning regional artisan. There is also an abundant supply of crystal drinking glasses and wine glasses, plus some unbreakable varieties for outdoor use.
The center piece of the Great Room is a large wood-burning fireplace built using natural rock reclaimed from the grand hotel that originally stood on the Lake Lahusage Point. The Great Room architecture features soaring cathedral ceilings. The tall walls and open dormers are adorned with artifacts, including a hand-carved wooden Cigar Store Indian. Great Room furnishings include an over-sized leather sofa, leather recliner, and a wide armchair with ottoman. There are also four swiveling barstools in the open concept Kitchen/Great Room. The entertainment focal point is a 42” Roku TV with DISH network and a DVD Jukebox loaded with over 250 movies.
The first floor Master Bedroom Suite features a large picture window that provides breathtaking views of the lake, and a stunning King size bentwood bed crafted by a local artisan. The Master Suite includes a private elevated screen porch that offers expansive views of the lake around the tip of the point. The large Master Bath has a jacuzzi tub, a separate tile and glass-block shower,
and a private water closet. All three bathrooms include hair dryers. A laundry closet with a washer and dryer is located just outside the Master Suite in a hall that leads to the Powder Room and the Game Room.
The stairs to the second floor of the home open onto a balcony that overlooks the Great Room. This balcony also provides views of the carefully curated primitive and Native American art displayed in the home’s dormers and architectural recesses. An L-shaped hall leads to the three second-story bedrooms and a full bathroom. The first two generously sized bedrooms each have a Queen Bed and views of the lake; both are furnished in an eclectic blend of primitive hickory and antique pieces. The third bedroom on the second floor includes two sets of twin bunk beds, a Stand-up NBA Jam Arcade Game, and an antique covered-wagon lamp.
The Game Room, which runs the length of the house, offers a wide variety of entertainment options for the entire family, including Pool, Table Tennis (Ping Pong), Foosball, eight player Poker Tabletop plus chips, and a Dish Network TV. The game room also hosts several games for outdoor play, including Corn Hole, Croquet, and Bocce Ball. Ladder Ball is available on the covered front porch facing the driveway.
A door at the far end of the Game Room opens onto a deck with a six-person hot tub. The deck stairs lead to a grassy area of the yard for playing outdoor games. The stairs also provide alternate access to the rest of the large property, including the firepit, dock, outdoor swing, and two hammocks with 180-degree views of the lake. The scenic forks of the Little River can be explored using the canoe and four kayaks positioned between the firepit and floating dock. Paddles and life jackets are on the covered front porch and under the deck, respectively.
