The house was clean and very comfortable (beds, couches and recliners better than much more expensive homes we have rented). Neighborhood is nothing fancy but safe and right next to a great trail with bridges over the Fox River. Would definitely stay again.
We absolutely loved our stay at this property and only wished we’d had more time to spend enjoying it! We plan to be back next year and build in more time to just relax at this amazing location!
just as nice as the first! This was our second time at Fox River Retreat and we had a wonderful time again. Very relaxing and we just LOVE watching the birds on the river. A couple of heron/egret actually popped onto the patio while we were watching from inside.
We’ll be back again!
I booked this location for my parents who flew in from Florida for my son's wedding. They LOVED it, from the peaceful mornings with the birds and ducks on the river to spending time with the grand and great grandchildren by the fire in the evening. They didn't want for anything durinng their stay. I would definitely book again when family comes to town. Thanks Ray!!
5 adults and 8 teens enjoyed this property to the max! We brought a travel trailer and we’re able to park it outside to increase our occupancy. (Ray is the best)
The kids loved the spacious living room to watch movies and hang out while the adults were thrilled with the outdoor patio, fire pit and nearby walking paths and parks.
We enjoyed watching all the wildlife that flew by and jumped out of the water while we sat by the river. What a great place for us to gather while we visited Lifest in Oshkosh!
Thank you for a wonderful getaway!
This cozy cottage was very clean. My sister & I (senior citizens) were on a pilgrimage to the place of our birth. As seniors, we would have appreciated both "grab bars" & a bath bench in the master bath tub, as we were unable to use the stairs (with no hand rail) to get to the basement walk in shower. Also would suggest a "step stool" to assist with getting into the very nice, but very high, bed in the master bedroom. Perhaps we missed it, but a brief mention of this house being non ADA compliant could be helpful to any future senior clients. Would also suggest additional fly swatters in each room, during "river fly" season...those pesty bugs were every where despite having windows & doors closed at all times.
The only downside to this property was what’s called “River Flies”. They don’t bite and can hardly fly but literally hundreds get in through any screen or door that’s not fairly tight.
Nice place, and dynamite to have the river just outside the window. Spent a lot of time watching birds (and a baby otter) and walking around on the trails right next door. Solid stay. As described. Would stay here again for sure.
I'd highly recommend this property, located on the Fox River. It is an older home with some interesting quirks (definitely watch your head if you go downstairs to use the second bathroom), but the owner has really done his best to make it comfortable and cute. The kitchen had everything we needed and the fire pit even had balled up newspaper, ready to go. The bike trail bridge is visible from the property, so getting up to go on a scenic walk was very easy. Glass Nickel was nearby if you'd like a pizza. Would stay again.
My friend and I from California stayed here and had a wonderful relaxing place to stay between a reunion from grade school through high school graduation 63 years ago. We had a great time enjoying fire in the designated area hour last night
My husband and I greatly enjoyed our stay at the Fox River Retreat! I loved sitting by the river and watching the large variety of water birds flying up and coasting down the river. The kitchen is well equipped and we had a very relaxing visit. The Loop the Little Lake trail was a great walk. Ray was a wonderful host and anticipated all you need when away from home.
