Quaint Cottage in Serene Gardens
Entering this delightful little cottage is like stepping back in time. Set on the edge of the Sherbrooke State Park, this Edna Walling heritage property is set in beautiful gardens which have been thoughtfully restored to the original concept of one of Australia's most influential landscape designers. The garden is a relaxing environment to unwind, sit and drink a coffee and enjoy the surroundings while your four legged friend explores this pet friendly property. It is within an easy walking of the Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens with it's charming lake and boathouse and, for the more energetic the cafes and shops at Sassafras and Kallista will stretch your legs. The excellent host was helpful during my stay and accommodated an unforeseen extension to my time here; although I needed little encouragement to stay longer and I hope to return again soon.

Perfect getaway
The property was a fantastic place to unwind and get away from it all. It is quite rustic so expect some bugs and the elements however it is a charming little house. The grounds were fun to explore and everything was a short walk or drive away. Perfect place to explore the hills. We didnt use the kitchen as we chose to dine out but it appeared to have everything you needed. There is also a generous sized bar fridge to bring your own food.

Horrible Dreadful Experience-Extremely Uninhabitable Dangerous
I have had to review this property as false comments have been made about my credibility and it is important people are aware of the negligent treatment of guests which caused tremendous suffering and health problems. I went to the cottage as I appreciate quiet garden settings. It took hours to find as I was running late and the path not lit. In the middle of winter, the maintenance of essential amenities, such as heating, hot water and gas to cook is essential. Temperatures drop to 1degree Celsius and the only heating is gas, which repeatedly ran out at night. There was no heating; a thin doona and I lay awake shivering for many hours suffering in the cold my hands shaking from the freezing air. I had an unlit path with overhanging bushes with thorns and it was too late to evacuate as I am an interstate traveler with my pets, so I tried to text the host many times and email them for urgent help however there was no response until late the next morning. I had paid for 7 nights and thought they would make sure it would not happen again. I need to be fit enough for travel and became too ill from hours without heating became so unwell I needed to recover to leave and had to extend my stay for another 7 nights. I had a fever from shivering for over 12 hours until someone finally came. I thought it surely would not happen again and should have left however with a fever and difficult symptoms extended the stay for another 7 nights to try to recover and fulfil the purpose of my stay, yet the heating and hot water reliant on gas ran out two more times. Again texts, emails ignored and only a response the following day after a sleepless night shivering in extreme discomfort. This was not only devastating to my stay but caused deplorable health problems making it difficult to leave. I had no heating for three nights on three separate occasions and well into the following day, except on one night when someone came at 4am, however I did not know until I found out later. This was a very rough, unpleasant experience that impacted my health and travel plans. To be ignored by the host when there is no heating and have a repeat is dangerous to the guest. To have no apology or recompense is wrong. To suggest I did something to their blind or cushion is completely false. I found it did not work during the stay. I had no vacuum cleaner to vacuum some fur that was more like cotton wool, they are pedigrees. My pets did not soil anything and care was taken

This cottage is charming, and is located on a great spot!
I really enjoyed my stay at this charming cottage. The place is well kept and is comfortable. It's a great retreat for someone who wants some quiet time away from the bustling city. I can't believe how beautiful the surroundings are around the cottage. My dog loves the spacious and beautiful garden just behind the house. Woods Restaurant (fabulous food btw) and George Tindale Garden is just a short walk from this cottage.
