A great base for a quick trip to Melbourne. Room clean & well presented, staff very helpful and receptive to requests. Secure car parking available and a very inviting pool & deck area. Within walking distance to Lygon St Restaurants, public transport at front door.

Unfortunately my coffee was lukewarm and breakfast was expensive for basic food. Wifi connection was incredibly poor thus I wasn’t able to use it. This was even after I told reception and tried a second login.

Handy spot to stay, Food is fab, But don’t book breakfast, After asking about breakfast, which my 12 yr old was looking forward to I was informed by the staff member at the front desk that I didn’t pay for breakfast, which I just checked wotif and I did, soooo Don’t pre order breakfast when you book a room cause you will most likely pay for it twice, which I didn’t, we left , no breakfast, not happy. This is, however my first disappointment with wotif.

Blood on the walls
Despite telling reception about the cleanliness issues... only the towels were replaced. After arriving late, we jumped into bed. The next morning we noticed hair in the shower, floors not vaccumed and even a blood smear (presumably) on the wall. That morning we informed and requested that the room be cleaned, the towels were replaced and the hair was gone, but the blood remained. On top of that... the mini bar snakes were out of date. The hotel did agree to remove that charge from our bill. Toilet seat is uncomfortable and sits askew. The bathroom door is coming off it's hinges. The view outside the window is horrible - unless you like airconditioning boxes. The room pen did not work either... which meant we could not leave a nice little note for the staff.

Room was clean but bathroom foldable door was chipped at the bottom. Pool was closed for renovations or maintenance and the hotel elevator needs an overhaul- very slow. Seems like an older hotel- could use an update.

Our Special night
We really don't get to do this often so the kids were being sat and we ran away for our 11th wedding anniversary. It wasn't a big one but it was ours. We love a restaurant in Lygon St so decided to book a room and make a night of it. It was affordable, felt lux, easy and welcoming. We did our own thing, had a ball and enjoyed the bar, room and breakfast in the morning. Thanks

Rydges Swanston street Carlton
Well I paid Wotif prices and got the Wotif room situated between the service elevator and the staff quarters below the 4th floor seminar room. The elevator was broken for two days they ran out of beer in happy hour conveniently and then On two occasions woke me up at 1.30am and 2.30am in the morning setting up the 4th floor seminar room. Despite complaining the first time they just carried on as usual the second time . The staff just did not care and the manager was an absolute liar saying he was not Informed .

Football trip to Melbourne.
Comfortable room, not huge but adequate, although with the rollaway bed for our friend , it was a bit squeezy! Friendly staff who were helpful and courteous. Football trip so location was good for catching tram to MCG or for shopping in Bourke St Mall.
