Just a minute's walk to Lake Michigan, the property offers private association access to a 750-foot shared beachfront. While the lake views are seasonal due to neighboring homes and trees, you can still enjoy the soothing sounds and refreshing breezes of the lake. You're not limited to our space - feel free to stroll for miles in either direction along the beach. The beach's beauty, the lake's majesty, and the stunning sunsets are simply legendary.
Inside the home, there are four floors. The main floor features a large great room with 20-foot ceilings and large windows bringing in lots of light. There is a conversational seating area with a large coffee table for snacks and games, an island with seating for three, and a custom table with seating for six. Of course, there is also a picnic table on the deck which is easily accessed from the kitchen.
The kitchen is fully stocked with all you’ll need – pots and pans, blender, drip coffee maker, hand mixer, slow cooker, flatware, glassware, and utensils.
Follow the hall from the great room, and you’ll find a full bath with a tub and shower combo along with two bedrooms, each with a queen bed. There’s also a door to the stairs that lead to the lower level. Follow these stairs down, and you’ll find the walk-out access to the front of the home. You’ll also discover a family area with a Roku TV for streaming, a sofa, and a love seat. There’s also another large coffee table for snacks and games, and a regular table with seating for six – another great place for playing games. The lower level also has a laundry/utility room, a full bath with a shower, and then two bedrooms – one with two twin beds, and one with two double beds.
Outside, there is a large wrap-around deck and a fire pit. We have several Adirondack and folding chairs, along with a picnic table.
Up the stairs from the great room, you’ll find the large primary bedroom with a window seat and king bed. There is also a full bath with a shower located off the landing at the top of the stairs, just outside the primary bedroom. From that landing, there is a circular staircase that leads to the Crow’s Nest, which is a great place to find solitude with a large, padded window seat, or to set up as a sleeping space (if you bring along an air mattress). Our kids have loved sleeping up there for the years we have stayed there!
The property is located halfway between the lakeside communities of Pentwater and Mears (Silver Lake), Michigan. To the south is Silver Lake, complete with lots of activities for the kids, several souvenir shops, restaurants, boat rentals, and of course dune buggy rentals for exploring the world-famous Silver Lake Sand Dunes. With over 2,000 acres, the dunes are a hotbed of fun with something for everyone – boating, hiking, beaches, and of course “riding” the dunes.

One of the best and most-loved features of Ridge Road Cottage is its proximity to the beach. The bluff is relatively low, with 83 stairs and a couple of places to sit along the way should you need a breather. The beach itself is huge and beautiful, with trees lining the lakeshore and views over the water as far as you can see. The beach is back and is huge as of spring 2024! Our association shares 750 feet of the beach, and there is more than enough room for everyone, as the beach is often on the quiet side throughout the summer. But you’re not limited to the association beach – you can literally walk for miles in either direction. And of course, in the evenings, you’ll find the sunsets that so many visitors to Michigan (and those that live here) can’t stop talking about.
This beautiful home’s interior furnishings are being redesigned during spring of 2024. The pictures of the great room reflect the current updates, and we’ll post more pictures as more rooms are updated.
Ridge Road Cottage is an excellent home-base choice for families looking to spend time relaxing and ‘getting away from it all’ while having access to restaurants, shops, the beach, and plenty of fun things to do.
