Nice, on the water, clean but old, had mice and trap bait but mice got in our food so we threw it away, King bed was good. Probably would not stay again.

Great Cabin
We had a very enjoyable stay at Beth's Lakeside cabin. It was clean and had everything we needed. In the mornings we hiked and in the afternoons we hung out by the water. The deck was perfect for chilling out in the shade. We would love to stay there again in the future.

Great location but very old cabin
Beautiful location on lake. Cabin desperately needs updating. Told to bring own water. Do not drink tap water. Stairs are extremely steep and dangerous. Bad smell/musty smell in cabin. Decor is run down, couches lumpy, everything is old and not in a good way…

Memories
LOVE "Beth's cabin, knew her personally, was a McCall neighbor until she left. However, LATE check in and EARLY check out are a huge "negative," dirty/un-swept deck as well as the dirty pots 'n pans we found. Decided not to "cook/eat in" because of the unclean utensils. Otherwise, our stay was full of memories of Beth. Left a framed picture for Scotts' daughter on the mantel. Thank you. Rick and Pat Skelly formally of McCall, Idaho.

Beth’s Cabin and the Beauty of Payette Lake’s east
This well-furnished cabin has a fabulous view of the east portion of Payette Lake from its deck and from inside the living dining area through windows across the back. The stairs down to the dock lead past a large Ponderosa Pine to a perfect sandy beach shallow enough for play. There is no internet, but we solved the problem with internet hotspots using our phones. It was a Generally quiet on this part of the lake. We would love to stay here again.

It was fine, but not great. Not very clean. No wood for wood burning stove when arrived which is heat source for living room and had to buy it. Master bed rather uncomfortable.

Great place on the lake. The stairs to the dock were easy to navigate, but may be difficult for someone who has trouble walking. The cabin isn't luxurious, but as you can see from the listing, it is as described. It's constantly shaded and stays cool even on a hot day. The king mattress could stand to be replaced. Also, it could use a little more cleaning in the corners and under the sofas. All in all, its a fun place to stay.

Nice location, but...
The pros: The dock is great, view is somewhat obstructed, but nice. We had great weather. I want to preface this by saying I know this is an older cabin, and I wasn't expecting anything special, but after spending over a grand for 3 nights, I feel the need to let prospective renters know what they are in for. I don't feel that previous reviews prepared me adequately. The cons: The SMELL is unbearable. Really and truly. Horrible. The bed in the master bedroom needs to be replaced (it has 2 body impressions with a hump in the middle). (***We left a day early because of these 2 things. I had to wash absolutely everything when we got home because of the smell.) Fridge and freezer smell. It is very dark and depressing inside. The patio has 3 plastic Adirondack chairs that are super flimsy, broken, and can't hold more than 100 lb. Some garbage cans still had garbage in them when we got there. Big outside garbage can was overflowing. Sink was full of recyclables. There was dust and cobwebs on the artificial flowers and greenery, and spider egg sacks in the kitchen attached to the walls above the stove. If you are cooking for more than 2 people, you might want to bring a frying pan. Hubs had to make pancakes one at a time. There is no wi-fi and cell signal is poor. This property is not good for small children or people with even slight mobility issues. The floor is very uneven. The stairs to the water are very steep. The stairs to the upstairs are extremely narrow and steep. The ceiling in the stairwell is very low; my husband cut the top of his head. There is no railing and it would be easy for small kids to fall off. We chose to leave a day early rather than spend one more night there. When we got there, we contemplated leaving right away, but we had spent so much money on it and couldn't get any of it back, we decided to try and stay. The kids had a great time in the water.

Great Lake access, but.......
The location and lake access, although there are steps down to the lake, are very good. We thoroughly enjoyed the private dock and small beach area and our golden retriever loved it. It is less than 10 minute drive to town and the area very quiet. However, the cabin was no where near up to the rate we had to pay. Upon entering, the cabin had an unpleasant smell. We opened the frig/freezer and there was a strong, terrible old dead fish stench. It was overpowering. The utility sink next to the laundry was filthy, there was dirt and hair caked in the basin, it just had not been cleaned. The kitchen sink was semi-clogged, draining very slowly. The cabin was “broom” clean but not really clean., which made us question the furniture and bedding. They should advertise in the cabin description to bring your own water because the filter is almost useless and they pump directly from the lake according to a sign next to the kitchen sink. If you want to use the fireplace, wood stove, bring wood or a splitter. The wood stacked outside is large rounds that won’t fit in the wood stove. One of the heaters didn’t work. The deck is great but the furniture barely useable. The location is great, but for the amount of money they charge, the cabin needs serious work. Doubt we’d stay here again without major cabin upgrades.

Old-School McCall at its Finest
This place was absolutely perfect. Yes, it is a bit rustic and rough around the edges, but for me that's part of the cabin experience. There are only a handful of survivors like this on the Payette, and frankly I'm surprised that this little charmer has withstood the pressure of an increasingly exclusive resort town. Surrounded by multi-million dollar chalets, Beth's Lakeside Cabin reminds us what lake life is all about: being outdoors, in the forest, on the water. There were only a couple of down sides: the master bed is very old and lumpy.... I would book another stay here in an instant if I knew the king mattress would be replaced first. Also, my wife believes the cabin could have been a bit cleaner overall, but this didn't really bother me much. Third, the kitchen sink was draining very slowly, and it was hard to tell if the garbage disposal was working. This location is absolutely gorgeous and quiet, the lake access is amazing, the dock is very nice, the porch is perfect, and the time capsule to my childhood days spending summers up here in our family's tiny pilgrim's cove cabin was priceless.

Overall very nice, but a few recommendations
The property is in a quiet location, with good lakefront access (via a somewhat lengthy staircase.) Nice deck, plenty of room upstairs for a few extra guests. All in all, a fine place to spend time. There are a few simple things I believe would enhance the rental experience at little cost. 1. There were mixed messages about the drinking water. The description mentions iron in the water, but we did not notice it and the filter on the kitchen sink does not appear to be an iron removal filter. Please correct me if this is wrong. However, there was a note above the sink noting the water is piped directly from the lake and recommending use of filtered water. It is unclear whether the recommendation refers to simply using the faucet filter or providing a separate source. Because the filter is slow, we provided our own drinking water in a 5 gallon refillable container. It would be neither expensive nor difficult for the rental agent to provide such a supplemental system, which I have found in other rentals. 2. There is electric heat in every room except the front living/dining area and kitchen (the heater in the laundry room was not working.) There is a woodstove in the front room, but the agent indicated that renters should provide their own wood. This is reasonable if use of the stove is strictly for recreation/ambience. However, during our visit the temperature dropped into the 30's at night, and the stove became an essential heat source. In this case, fuel (wood) should be provided. The managing agent agreed, and provided fuel when asked. 3. There was quite a bit of critter (rodent) activity in the space between the first and second floors, whether squirrels or others was never determined. An audio device for discouraging the critters was provided, but was not effective, as we enjoyed their skittering in the woodwork every day of our stay. We would happily rent the cabin again, though we would ask to have the above issues addressed.

Charming and perfect in every way
We spend every other summer on a lake in Maine in a camp we adore. We have now found an equal in the west. This slice of heaven on Payette Lake is everything we needed for an amazing week long vacation. Having our boat right on property is what attracted us but who knew it would prove to be the most beautiful place to stay? A quiet section of lake with early morning and evening glass. The accommodations were perfectly rustic and comfortable. We did not want for anything. The kitchen was stocked, the deck was peaceful, the sunsets glowing bliss. We hiked to Loon Lake, mountain biked in bear basin, golfed in McCall and waterskied until our arms fell off. I thought we’d go out to dinner... at least once... but we could not peel ourselves from the solitude and beauty of our very own dock. Finding a rental property that meet our needs (even an Australian shepherd in tow) isn’t easy but I can guarantee if Beth’s Lakeside Cabin remains an option we are sure to return! Thank you for sharing a slice of your paradise with us!

Construction Noise - Be warned
This property is exactly as advertised. We have stayed here 2x. However there is a new home being built 2 houses down and the construction noise is annoying. It starts at 8am and continues all day. They are only now digging the foundation, so I would expect that construction noise will continue for many months. Inquire about construction before booking.

It is what it says it is. Nothing fancy, but has old school charm. We appreciated the dock and ability to bring our dogs with us. The stairs going upstairs are indeed steep and require care when going up/down. They probably need an additional railing.
