Lovely big, comfortable house for 7 of us plus 3 dogs. Beautiful area, used the local pubs and activities round and about. Very close to Matlock from where we went kayaking down the Derwent.
Had a fantastic long weekend at Orchard cottage. Spacious accommodation for 8 people, with a big table for family meals and a good size lounge. Extra seating area in the kitchen which is great for socialising when someone is preparing food.
The beds are all comfortable and the house was spotlessy clean and really warm.
There's a garden on 3 sides, which was great for our dogs and there's plenty of really good walks close by.
The only tiny details we struggled with were: no sharp knife, and we could have done with more information on where to put the recycling and how to alter the heating.
Otherwise an absolutely brilliant stay, and we all agreed we'd love to go back.
Plenty of room for the family to either socialise or have their own space. Huge well equipped kitchen with just about everything you might need! Ideal location away from the road but not so remote you cant walk to civilisation. Local pub, The Gate, did lovely food and super friendly service and just a short walk away.
Not that easy to spot the sign for the lane as you drive on the main road, i recommend having a peek on google street view to give you an idea what to look out for!
Little tip - the en suite bath takes an age to fill as the pressure is low and wasnt very hot first night, but little tweak of the boiler temp and it was a lovely big bath.
Garden not as enclosed for the dog as i thought as she could get down the side to the back garden and orchard with fairly low walls in places but we kept an eye on her and she was fine. Bit annoying a neighbours dog would come into the garden as ours is nervous, plus i didnt appreciate cleaning up someone elses poop! However he wasnt unfriendly and another neighbour took it back to its home so was only really an inconvenience really.
Bed was lovely and squishy... heaven after a day of walking!
Overall really enjoyed our stay and would recommend booking!
Orchard Cottage had everything you could possibly need for your holiday
Set in a really lovely area which lent itself well for our family of four adults, two children and four dogs
Thank you for a most enjoyable week
Even the weather was kind to us !
This property certainly has the wow factor from the front gate through to the back garden , the wonderful accommodation and the specifications of all the amenities - we loved it and it was just right for our family to get together and enjoy a weekend - wish we had stayed longer - thank you so much. We are a group of school friends who meet annually. We had a lovely stay at Orchard Cottage and the hot tub was a huge hit. The house is spacious and well equipped. The location is lovely and we enjoyed a scenic walk into Matlock via the Lumsdale waterfall and Mill. Spent the day at Chatsworth which was well worth the visit. The host, Sue, could not have been more helpful.
7 of us stayed at the property, which provided plenty of space for us all. The three bathrooms were useful in the mornings, with all of us getting ready. The lounge had seats for all the adults in the morning.
Located just outside Matlock, you are well placed to explore all the local sights. Whilst having somewhere to retreat after a long day out.
We had a great stay in this property
The location is great for walking and driving to places of interest.
The wi-if was slow and it really needs either a clothes dryer or a line to hang clothes outside on but neither of these things distracted us from having a great time x
This is a beautiful spacious property which was great for a two families sharing. Location is quiet with great views but still close enough to amenities and plenty of things to do in the area.
Great cottage and very spacious with all you need. Lovely food at Gate Inn and walks close to accommodation.

Very over priced
Very over priced property. My Mum and Dad arrived Friday morning to find no hot tub there (this was the reason we booked it). I ring the owner to be told it was £185 extra, if she could get one. 8 people were going and expecting a hot tub so I agreed to pay in cash but wasn't happy. The hot tub was only comfortable for 5 people, so we couldn't all get in at the same time. Nothing on the site said extra for the hot tub. There is even a photo of one on the gallery. The house needed a refurbishment and a good clean. Kitchen utensils were old and dirty. We took our dog with us, but over the weekend had 2 other dogs running on the garden, so was unable to let my own dog out. My son had to take one of the dogs home as it was there a while. Also a very grumpy neighbour next door complained my dog was barking in the night, but it wasn't my dog. I explained about the dogs at the back of us, but he wouldn't have it. So finished our holiday off arguing with the very rude man next door. Will definitely not be going back.

Fabulous large cottage in an ideallic spot
The cottage was beautiful, very spacious for 6 of us and tastefully decorated and furnished. Everything we needed and more. Spectacular views and surrounding area lovely. We had a fabulous time celebrating a birthday and the glorious weather was an added bonus. We would definitely want to stay again and would highly recommend the cottage.

Perfect location for Chatsworth and the Peak District
Beautiful house, plenty big for 8 adults (10 if you use the fouton.) more spacious than we thought it would be by looking at house online.Spotlessly clean and very comfortable accommodation. We lit the fire which created a cozy atmosphere in the evening. Lovely big kitchen diner, well equipped, dishwasher tables provided but there was no washing up liquid for hand washing items not suitable for dishwasher. Tea and coffee and a pint of milk provided for a welcome cuppa. Ample parking for 4 cars and lovely space outside for dining if weather permitted. We couldn't find the remote control for the large tv in the living room but it was a blessing in disguise. There's a washing machine and a second fridge and a freezer in utility room which would be very useful for families and those staying longer than we did. I would love to stay again, can't really fault the house. Thank you for a lovely weekend stay

Cottage was beautiful and big, had everything you need and more.
Location was perfect for a quiet he away. Thoroughly enjoyed the long walks, the waterfalls were beautiful as were the black rocks. The cottage was amazing, perfect place to have a week relaxing. Being 10 mins away from Matlock was the best as Sainsbury's and coop are close, but not close enough that the traffic effects outsife the cottage! Overall, a really great stay, would definitely go to orchard cottage again!

Lovely property, lovely location.
We enjoyed staying at Orchard Cottage, it is a lovely property and is well situated near Matlock.
We had a family weekend for a birthday celebration, ate at The Tavern in Tansley, (excellent,) and had great days out at Carsington Water and Gulliver's Kingdom.
The cottage is well equipped, but only one shower was difficult for a party of 10, even though there are 2 bathrooms.
Thank you for the welcome pack and for providing high chairs.
Altogether a great weekend.

We had a very good stay in the cottage during our visit to Matlock for our daughter's wedding. The cottage was well equipped (although there was no hand soap in the bathrooms!)and comfortable.

Beautiful cottage, immaculately clean.
Stayed here with friends and the house had everything we needed. Very comfortable. The only downside was running out of hot water when showering. Would recommend
