Heaven in the Mountains!
We found this listing at the last minute for a quick weekend getaway and couldn't be more pleased. This lovely mountain home is even more beautiful than the photos and the owner is the best! We found check-in easy, welcome goodies in the fridge, parking was a breeze (right by the door) and the cute town of Marshall was only a short drive away. Quiet and comfortable - exactly what we were looking for!

Exactly what I needed
This home is quite private with amazing views yet close enough to downtown Marshall. Easy access to groceries and gas. I also made two trips to Weaverville downtown which is an easy drive. Lots of artists and musicians in the area. The owner was as nice as anyone could be. I felt especially lucky to get a slice of delicious cake as well. Felt like a nice home away from home. Very inviting atmosphere.

The perfect getaway
The pictures simply do not do this place justice. My husband and I wanted a quiet weekend out in nature and it was even better than expected. It's tucked away in 50+ acres, views galore, cannot see a neighbor no matter which way you look, but downtown Marshall and Ingles is only 10 mins away. We had great communication with the owner prior, clear directions, easy to find, house was as described but better. From the stocked chefs kitchen to the comfy furniture, the view from the deck, it was all perfect. It rained the first full day so we spent it with the doors open, listening to the rain on the tin roof, watching the turkeys cross the road and reading. We woke up to a gorgeous sunrise over the mountain and enjoyed breakfast with a view. I have zero complaints or critiques...such a beautiful home and property. We are currently planning our next visit ❤️

Wonderful place in the woods
This was a great home to spend an extended weekend in for a family gathering. The house has plenty of room, a long deck with a view of the valley below and hills beyond, a great room with a well-equipped kitchen, and a lot of books and amusing nick-nacks on the shelves. This place has character. McRae was a great host. He was there to greet us when we arrived, and he let us know if we needed something he lives nearby. He sincerely wants his guests to feel at home and enjoy their stay. Asheville is an easy drive less than a half-hour away, and there is a large Ingles grocery store about ten minutes away.

Perfect and Serene
This little cottage is not exact small! It’s a beautiful open floor plan on the first level with a comfortable sized bedroom, downy there are more bedrooms and bathrooms with access to laundry and outdoor seating. On the main level, views of the mountains sprawling through the large French doors leading to a comfy seating (covered) deck perfect for morning coffee in a rocking chair and a blanket. Our host went the extra mile and made sure we had a some snacks and coffee/creamer available. This would be a great location for a small retreat with friends.

This place is really wonderful. My husband and I had an amazing week-long stay here. We brought along our pup and he had fun roaming the grounds. The kitchen had everything you can think of for cooking and baking during our stay. The bed was confy and everything was sparkling clean. The pictures don't do the cabin justice! The owners were responsive and fun hosts. Lots of small towns and hiking to explore in addition to Asheville which was about a 30 - min drive. We hope we get to come back!

McRae showed us impeccable hospitality. The cabin was perfect for my husband and I and our two dogs. The dogs enjoyed being able to run off a leash on the all the property surrounding this beautiful cabin! The cabin is close to Asheville, abundant hiking, white water rafting. Marshall has the cutest downtown area with a brewery and dining options. We will definitely be back to this little bit of paradise in the Smokies!

Wonderful Getaway
This was our second visit to the House in the Holler and it was just as we remembered! McRae did a wonderful job of decorating for the holidays and we enjoyed the live 10' tree in the open great room, as well as the other decorations throughout the house. The weather was mild enough to begin the day with breakfast on the deck and the house was a welcome respite in the evening after a busy day spent outdoors. We highly recommend the House in the Holler and are already talking about when we can return. The Ericksons
