Great staff
It is close enough to the square to reach yet far enough from the Noise To sleep. Staff is extremely helpful.

Nice riad but some important drawbacks
As all riads, Shaloma is run by 4 extremely nice people (2 male in charge of guests and service and 2 female in charge of cooking and cleaning). They will do as much as they can to help and are quite nice. The food (for those that ask them to dinne at the riad) is excellent, however breakfast was boring as it is literally the same everyday and has not nice details like fake orange juice (you are in Morocco where a kilo of oranges is a few cents ... Do real one!). The riad is nice (like many riads in Marrakesh) with large rooms and functional bathrooms. It is situated a 10-15 min walk from the medina and after walking inside a laberithm of small peatonal roads. Some people may feel unease at first but there is nothing to worry about (do not use google to locate the place as it got it wrong, call the riad and have them pick you up). There is place to park 2 min from the riad so it is a good option for those with cars travelling around. The problems with the riad are the excessive noise on the rooms with external Windows. I struggle to find the utility of those small windows other that sucking the noise into the room! Also you will find things on the bathroom missing such as hairdryer or bathrobes that you have to request. Finally, our bed was rock hard. I have never felt such a pain in my back when sleeping, and I do own what I consider is a hard matress.

great stay
Very friendly and helpful staff. About 15 min walk to the main square, very easy and felt safe. Wise to bring ear plugs as can be noisy but we didn't have a problem, certainly nothing to be concerned about and wouldn't put me off. Very beautiful traditional riad, comparable to a boutique hotel.

Great place and staff
This riad is highly recommended. The room and riad is very clean and nice. The staff is very friendly and Abdul did all he could to book me on tours and suggested places to visit. He arranged taxi’s and anything I wanted. I will be coming back here next time I visit Marrakesh. Rob LaTragna

Our stay at the Riad Shaloma was very good. the room was clean, the shower was hot, the bathroom was spotless, the linen was changed every day and the breakfast was very generous. The staff was extremely helpful and warm and friendly. Can only recommend the Riad Shaloma. We will stay there again.

Tucked away...a real taste of 'Marrakech'
Tucked away down a maze of alley ways, we were a little apprehensive to begin with but behind the wooden door was a lovely quiet court yard, with rooms on the ground and first floor. Our bedroom was tastefully decorated and the air con a blessing! The roof top terrace was nice but a little tired looking and over looked what resembled a building site but then again there are many areas of Marrakech that look either unfinished or just started! Continental breakfast was good (selection of fresh fruits and traditional breads and jam) served in the courtyard. The hotel is close to Bahia and Badi Palaces and about 20 minutes walk from the main square. For those wanting luxury this is not the place for you but for if you want a real taste of Marrakech then this is it.

For a short city break this Riad has much to offer. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and all main attractions are within about a 15 minutes walk. No hesitation in recommending this Riad.

Nice hidden Riad
Had to find at first but the staff showed my the best way to access the riad. It's very close to the square about 15mins walk, near most of the attractions in the old city. Nice & quite at night. Breakfast was average and the same every morning. Will probably stay here again because it's good value for money. It's safe to walk at night though it was intimidating at first.

what a treat.
dont let the outside view or the way to the riad put you off guys. It is such a hidden gem that I actually wished I could have stayed a little longer. Staff were all family of one running the riad, and they do indeed treat their customers as if we were their own house guests from faraway. All attentive and well thought out. Breakfast simple but delicious. Room was immaculately clean and cleaned on a daily basis. Very good stay.

An Oasis of Tranquility in a city of organised bedlum!!
The Riad is well isolated from all the traffic noise being down a maze of several unmade alleyways. roof top is ideal for sun bathing though the view over the wall of rooftops and hundreds of satellite dishes (& a nearby rubbish tip) are uninspiring. Return shuttle (20 euros) for airport is a worthwhile option as the owner meets & guides you to the Riad (otherwise it's almost impossible to find!).Stayed a week on B & B basis, breakfast limited to orange Juice, a plate of sliced banana, apple & strawberries then a muffin, pancake and cake jams/honey with mint tea or coffee. Evening meals can be arranged at an additional 15 euros and were good. Staff very pleasant and very helpful but appear to have only taken over from previous owners 4 months ago at time of writing, There appear to be some slippage in standards based against previous reviews, the tiled floors were looking a bit tired and mucky. Be aware that there is an additional Municipal tax of 2.5 euros per person per day to be paid at the end of your stay Wardrobe & clothes storage space was minimal in the room with a deficiency of coat hangars, perhaps this is allied to it being a short stay destination. The trip itinary provided by the Riad was ideal with the owner taking you out to meet a lift to the minibus pick up point, the Ouzoud falls trip is a must do, the Ourika valley less so. Overall an enjoyable cultural experience which now done we don't intend repeating! Good luck!!

Would definitely stay here again
The owner is very helpful, the staff are all really lovely. The location is good, not too noisy unlike very central Riads as long as you don't mind a 10/15 minute walk to the main activity, although there is a square nearby where you can have lunch and it's also very near the Mela (spice markets etc) The Riad itself is lovely, the breakfast nice and the staff being lovely all make for a very decent riad choice indeed. Take advantage of their airport transfers, not expensive and much easier than trying to negotiate your own way there!

Authentic Morrocan Experience
The staff at Riad Shaloma couldn't have been more helpful. They arranged for a driver to collect us from the airport for 10Euros and then a member of staff came to meet us from the car. We had dinner on our first night at the Riad - a lovely 3 course meal for 15Euros each. The Riad is in a residential area, set back from the main road and signs have been put up to help visitors find it through the back streets. This was really helpful and we didn't get lost once. Inside, the Riad is beautifully kept. It has a central courtyard area inside where breakfast is served and all the rooms look out over this. My tip would be to request a room on the first floor. Ours was on the ground floor, which meant our window was at the same level as the dining area. The Riad is really close to the old palace and Saadian Tombs and is around a 20-25 minute walk into the main square. It is in a residential area, offering a more authentic experience of daily life in the city. It'sa bit daunting when you first walk the route, but we found our way easily enough, hotel staff will give directions - and we always felt very safe and enjoyed getting in amongst the people and culture. The Riad offers a range of trips. We did two day trips - one to the Atlas Mountains and one to the seaside town Essaouria. One final tip - a little bit of French would be helpful! Several staff speak English very well, but they weren't always at reception. If you don't know much French, make sure you ask questions whilst an English speaking member of staff is there and book onto your trips early so you don't miss out. I would definitely stay here again if I was going back to Marrakesh.

Mooie riad

Vriendelijke ontvangst.
