Gorgeous property with an exceptional host
We absolutely loved staying at Dar Ilham! Karim was the most wonderful host (coordinating all our transport, a camel ride, and anything else our hearts desired) and his team were all so accommodating. Our compliments to the chef! The food exceeded expectations and the relaxing atmosphere immediately put us in holiday mode. Dar Ilham was recommended to us by friends who visit at least once annually and they did not steer us wrong! Our 4 year old daughter loved the Dar Ilham cats and swimming pool and still talks about it daily (several weeks later). Can’t wait for our next visit. Thank you Karim!

Beginning with sweet breads with our morning coffee to the garden's roses in bloom, on to the inviting clean pool, the peacocks and evening song birds * all awakened our senses. The best is the staff, always attentive, helpful and polite... My daughter and I felt like royalty we were treated with so much respect. The Riad was an oasis of peace and tranquility, a green and bird twittering environment. We felt we were staying in a private home as it was so relaxing and no formalities such as a reception area. Our stay included breakfast which we ate next to the pool but we also had lunch and dinner on a couple of occasions on request but give them warning as it is cooked from scratch so takes a little while. The tagine was especially good. One day we asked if they had hummus but it was lost in translation, Fatima googled it and came up with a hummus type soup / dip which we were very touched by! Taxis were also booked at our request and we had the same driver each time we visited Marrakesh who was very helpful and friendly and advised us on various things. He was extremely reliable and we felt very safe with him. They also organised their own Hamman for us which was a fantastic experience and worked wonders on my skin particularly which is usually very dry. All in all I would recommend this Riad for its Moroccan authenticity, the peace and calm in contrast to the hive of activity that is Marrakesh and the excellent service of all the staff .

This is a great hotel for a short break! Very clean and tidy! Nice large pool, but the pool heater was not working. There are a number of good spa treatments available at a reasonable price. The food on the lunch and dinner menu was really good!

Beautiful hotel and really accommodating staff, located quite far from the city centre which makes it really calm and peaceful and there is always a taxi on hand to take you straight there (20minute drive) breakfast was lovely and traditional but the same everyday

Peaceful Christmas Break
We decided to have "a get away from it all" Christmas this year. We had been to Marrakech before at Christmas 2004 and stayed in a large hotel close to the city centre. This time we chose the Riad Dar Ilham about 7 miles outside the city, what a wise choice. We had a relaxing, peaceful break far from the hustle & bustle of the Medina. The Riad was staffed with wonderful helpful people who made everything perfect. Everyone associated with this Riad deserves praise. We shall definitely return.

Like in a dream
I went there with my partner and the first word that comes up is wonderful. We both had such a great time. The staff are all very welcoming and friendly specially Nadia, everybody was full of good advices and the owner Alain is always happy to have a chat with you. We were upgraded for free into a junior suite, which was very spacious and very comfortable. Our balcony overviewed the swimming pool, and we had a couple of glasses of wine watching the sunset over the Atlas mountains, seemed like we were both dreaming. Also, the food was amazing and always came in huge portions, we always had to order a tajine for one person to share. Very rich and very tasty. All the facilities were very nice, pool was brilliant, the Jaccuzi was a bit too cold but it didn't really matter anyway.

Fab, restful and calm
The staff and hotel are amazing. They were always on hand and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel room was all the website had shown and the hotel itself was excellent. Eating outside in the big tents was exciting and different, sometimes the cats became annoying, but the food was just delicious. Marrakesh was busy and tantalizing, a bit European and a bit African all at the same time. A must go to place for sure!

The staff are nice and helpful ,if a little confused sometimes .The Riad is 20 minutes from marrakesh center ,the times of free transport did not suite us so we ended up spending lots on taxi fares.£25 two way trip .This means that your pretty much eating lots of meals in the hotel which while the food is spot on its expensive ,the least we spent on meal for 2 was £45 ranging up to £65 .Good food is on offer in the town for £10 .but when you add taxis in is it worth travelling .We went on the cooking course which was supposed to be £90 all in including pick up and return but were asked for extra £20 by the driver for transport.The heated pool was cold until day 3 when they put the heaters on.There is nowhere near the Riad to go for a walk not even a small shop . I would recommend stopping nearer the center of Marakesh it will save you lots of money.

Lush Riad
I was not disappointed. The Riad was quick to respond to my e-mail regarding airport pick up which was a great relief, our taxi driver Hamid was welcoming and had a good sense of humour. We arrived late but they organised a meal for us (I would suggest the salad only if you arrive late, the portions are very big). They had also responded to my request of a room on the first floor in the Riad, which was stunning and full of charm. The room had one of the biggest beds. The shower room was fab a tip would be if you don't want little birds in your room close the shower room window, leave it open if you do, they do fly out again. In relation to food, we quickly found out portions are huge. The food is expensive but tasty. We ordered the tagine for one, which was plenty for both of us. I normally don't eat meat when in Africa but I did here and no tummy problems at all. The Dar Ilham staff especially Layla, Iman and Hamid the driver made our stay easier and were all very helpful, courteous yet not intrusive. I would highly recommend this Riad for lush peaceful relaxation and reflection yet an opportunity to dive into the wonderful hectic madness that is Marrakech centre is available too. Ps look up at night ☺

Wonderful time and good memories
This was our first holiday in many years. The reception we got upon arriving was warm and friendly. The setting of the accomodation was beautiful. As we were there with with only one other couple, we were upgraded to another beautiful room. The staff at the hotel were very respectful and did everything they could to make our stay a memoriable one. The were caring, honest and very attentive to your needs. The food was traditional and of a high standard. Our room was lovely over-looking the pool and the Atlas mountains. There was a balcony where you could sit and and relax and just enjoy the view. As we were there for only four days, we went out everyday. All we would have to do is inform the staff at reception. They would then organise a taxi which would take you there and return you afterward. These were dirvers who you could trust and also went out of their way to make your trips enjoyable with taking and showing you different places along the way. We would certainly go back again and will be taking our family next time.

Really impressed. Loved it.
From the moment we were picked up from the airport (which was included in the price) we had a really lovely time. The hotel was beautifully decorated and had a well sized pool. I was so glad that i didnt decide to stay in marrekech itself as after the craziness of the town it was so nice to return. The hotel is only about 15/20 minutes away but run a shuttle which is reasonably priced. I felt really safe as i always knew where and what time we would be picked up. The food for breakfast (included) and evening meals was excellent. Beautifully presented, tasted really good. I ate too much every time! The break was exactly what i needed as work had been really busy and it was just luxiourous and the staff couldnt do enough for you. Unfortunately the weather let us down for one evening but it was great as the rooms have tv's and DVD;s so we got to watch a couple of films lounging in our bathrobes and eating the hotels lovely food. Oh and lastly there is a spa there - 2 of us had pedicures (quality amazing) and the other had a hammam. If we were there longer then i would have signed up to their four day deal where you get treatments every day. Everyone at the hotel liked having this option. The cost for the treatments was comparable with home which was fine. I can't wait to go back and will be going with my husband next year for our anniversary.

Home away from home!
The staff at the Riad are very friendly and made us feel very welcome. When leaving we felt like we were leaving a friendly family's home rather than a hotel. The place is beautifully decorated and feels like a blissful little world of it's own closed off from it's surroundings by tall walls. The pool area is also beautiful. The hammam treatments are recommended! The food was home cooked, nice and seemed to be prepared and presented very hygienically. The bedrooms are kept very clean and the ones with balcony have a lovely view of mountains! It is a little out of Marrakech and therefore the taxis to Marrakech are fairly costly. This also means there is little option but to eat at the riad unless you take a taxi to a restaurant (you can start feeling you would like more variety of food). There is a broadband internet connection which is a little slow. As it is a little rural, there can be power cuts which stop running water too. We had one on the first day but we were offered a room upgrade so we were not too disappointed about this! If a sunny getaway with limited time spent in Marrakech itself is what you want, this hotel is perfect (although a little costly once food and treatments are included). Lovely place.

We had a wonderful stay for five nights over the several days before New Years 2010. The hotel is comprised of two buildings, a Riad and and a Kasbah next to each other and both overlooking the very large pool and garden. We stayed in a spacious room on the second floor of the Kasbah overlooking the garden and pool. The room also had a very comfortable pull out sofa which made the room comfortable for a family of three people. The meals were served in a wonderful tent with comfortable chairs and sofas which overlooked the pool. We had breakfast and dinner there each day during our stay... and it really felt like home. The owner of the hotel is resident on the property and makes certain that his guests are comfortable with anything that is required. We have rarely, if ever, had such outstanding and friendly service. The livingroom / lounge is beautifully set up with a fireplace in the corner and a series of comfortable sitting areas which have readily available free wifi, which made it easy to communicate for business requirements while we were travelling. A bonus was that CNBC was available on all the room television sets, so it made it easy to keep up with international business news while we were travelling. I would strongly recommend this hotel as being one of the most attractive options in all of Marrakesh.

Riad Dar Ilham - excellent service with a smile!
We were treated extremely graciously during our entire stay, the staff (Mohammed and Alli on reception especially) were really friendly, polite and helpful. After we expressed disappointment with our room (it was smaller than we'd expected) they upgraded us for free to a larger room. The food was fine and they paid for us to have a courtesy bus into town each day. They printed out maps, gave us information on what to see and do, and generally made us feel extremely relaxed. Perfect - just what we wanted!

We were attending a conference in Marrakesh. Initially,[...] advertisement said it was .05 miles from Marrakesh. The Riad was about 15 miles which made it quite inconvenient. [...]Nevertheless, Riad gave us an upgrade and we decided to stay (we were prepaid so we didn't have a choice). We were extraordinarily pleased with the beautiful Riad and its view, great food and individual service not to mention the most beautiful rooms with verandas. This mistake turned into a plus[...] It made our conference a bit stressful getting back and forth and hiring a driver. Nevertheless, I would definitely return to the Riad.

Le Riad far Ilham, propose un cadre reposant et magnifique à quelques km du centre ville Nous avons passé un super séjour de 6 nuits oū l’accueil, la nourriture et la gentillesse du personnel étaient juste magiques Nous recommandons vivement d’y séjourner

Un lugar increíble a unos 20 minutos de Marrakech. Uno de los mejores Riad que nos hemos alojado. Habitaciones muy grandes muy bien decoradas con mucho estilo y con mucho gusto. Cámas cómodas y muy grandes. Lavabo muy limpio y muy bien equipados. Las habitaciones cuentan con una terraza privada donde te sientes muy a gusto y muy fresco. Habitación con vistas a una magnífica piscina y el jardín que está cuidado al máximo. Karim, el director del Riad, es una persona que está en todo momento para hacerte sentir como en casa, preocupándose en todo momento de tus necesidades. Unos desayunos fantásticos al lado de la piscina donde el fresco de la mañana junto con el olor a café y zumo de naranja te hacen sentir muy a gusto. Una gran piscina muy limpia y muy bien cuidada con hamacas y toldos de primera calidad. Nosotros viajamos con dos niñas de 8 y 12 años y tenían todo tipo de flotadores y utensilios varios para jugar en la piscina. Cenamos, en una Haima muy bonita que está instalada en el jardín, una comida excelente . Es cierto que los precios están por encima de lo que habitualmente puedes encontrar para cenar en cualquier sitio de Marruecos pero la verdad es que la calidad era muy buena. Sin duda un lugar para ir a descansar y pasar unos días fuera del bullicioso Marrakech. 100% recomendable.
