About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Bear Creek Cabin w/Hot Tub, Pets on 40 acres!

The Bear Creek Cabin is charming with a century old history based on its original log Great Room. While fully maintaining the charm of its history, the Cabin has been brought into current times with all the modern conveniences including an outdoor Hot Tub. In the cabin you’ll find all the amenities you will need in this renovated 2 bedroom cozy cabin with 2 baths.

When you walk into the Bear Creek Cabin, you won't find the musty stuffiness, typical of many vacation rentals. It is fresh and clean with a pleasing blend of new vintage and contemporary furnishings. The modern kitchen has all solid stone surface counters and is decorated to look and feel like an old style farm house. You will also find it fully stocked with pots, pans, bakeware and an array of spices. There are 3 flat screen smart TV's, FAST free Wi-Fi. AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile work well on the property.

The cabin can sleep 4 comfortably with central air conditioning and heating. A BBQ and picnic table are nearby along with a fire pit that can be used (except during times of higher fire risk). The outside area is large and level, making it a great place for kids to play, ride bikes and explore nearby. Don't be surprised if you see some wildlife while sitting on the patios. There are hiking trails on the 40 acres property for any days you want to stay and relax at home.

The living room, dining area and kitchen are all open, allowing you to enjoy watching your favorite movies or shows and to stay warm with the original stone hearth fireplace in those cooler months. You'll also find a fully equipped interior laundry room. Natural materials were used to accent the home’s history lending to its warmth and the charm of times gone by. Look and you’ll see features in the home that are nearly 100 years old.

Set on 40 acres, the property will invite you to take leisurely hikes and enjoy the forested and scenic views. You can see the Sierras from locations on the property. Peace and quiet are the best things you’ll notice when you stay at the Bear Creek Cabin. It is set back just off the main route 49, near the historic town of Mariposa and is half way between two entrances to Yosemite Park. You’ll want to sample both easy but different drives into Yosemite - either via the west entrance with HWY 140 along the valley floor beside the Merced River or via the south entrance with HWY 41 through the Sierra mountains.

This location is a great place to retreat to after a busy day with the crowds of summer in Yosemite. This rustic luxury retreat is just a short drive from the old gold mining town of Mariposa (www.yosemite.com/things-to-do). The cabin is also a great hideaway in the fall, winter and spring. As the temperature drops, the property, with its special setting, may welcome you with a beautiful snowscape.

Come and visit! You won’t want to leave!!

The Bear Creek Cabin is a great starting location for day trips to many points of interest:

To Yosemite through west entrance –
Go north on route 49 to reach the arch rock highway 140 entrance that takes you through the historic town of Mariposa and along the valley floor of the scenic Merced River canyon. It is a beautiful drive which will take you about 45 minutes to an hour to reach the park. There are many places along the road to stop and enjoy the wild and scenic river. This area is known for spectacular wild flower viewing.

To Yosemite through south entrance –
Go south on route 49 to reach Oakhurst - a larger town with many services, dining and shopping options. In Oakhurst, you will turn left onto highway 41 east to wind your way up the mountain into Yosemite Park through the quaint little villages of Fish Camp and Wawona – both places of many interests. Near Wawona is the must see Mariposa Grove of giant redwoods. As you drive further toward Yosemite just after the tunnel, be sure to pull off to see the spectacular view of the Yosemite valley from above.

• Bass lake is located fifteen minutes from Oakhurst. It is a hopping place during warm weather for water sports and just catching some sun and a picnic for the day. Bass lake offers water sports rentals, shops, casual as well as fine dining options. 'Ducey's on the Lake' is a favorite restaurant.

• There are 3 local golf courses just minutes away: Sierra Meadows, River Creek and Wawona; the latter is just inside Yosemite.

• During the winter months you can travel to Badger Pass to enjoy downhill and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

• Many of the communities have many other activities throughout the year! On local websites you can find events like festivals, the arts and wineries to explore. Mariposa has a zip line and river rafting in the summer, as well as horseback riding on forested trails.

• Mariposa has its own airport just 10 minutes from town and 20 minutes from the cabin. Car rentals are available at the airport with advance reservations.

• Fresno international Airport is about 1 hour and 15 minute drive to the cabin.

Respite from Yosemite park
We were delighted with our stay at the log cabin. It was clean and provided all that we needed. The property was so fun. From the fire pit (which we didn't use due to the high fire warnings) horseshoes, hottub, and all the walkabout space it was relaxing and provided us with a home from which to explore Yosemite. We saw deer, the cutest ground squirrel and the marching quail were comical. We would highly recommend this property!

Clean property - good point of departure to Yosemite from LA
The pictures of the property accurately reflect what it looks like. It was clean well kept. Comfortable with AC that worked well during heat wave. Well equipped kitchen with great appliances. Beds comfortable with a very firm mattress in one room and softer option in the other bedroom. Owner easy to deal with.

Great little cabin
Our family of four stayed here for a long weekend. It was a great home base for day trips to Yosemite and Bass Lake, and it provided all the necessary creature comforts while maintaining that cabin feel. The A/C was a necessity given the August heat. But we still found the opportunity to use the hot tub in the evenings when the temperatures outside become more bearable. Kitchen was sufficiently stocked with the necessary cookware and amenities. Highly recommend for groups / families of 4 or less.

Log Cabin
We enjoyed our stay. We knew it would be a great place when we arrived and the AC was on (it was really hot outside). We made use of the amenities which included the hot tub and the fire pit outside. If we ever needed help the owner and the manager’s response time was fast. This cabin was extremely dog friendly and our dog enjoyed the trip. Relatively close to two entrances to Yosemite. We would come back if the opportunity arose.

Romantic Getaway
This cabin was a perfect getaway for my wife and I. There is enough room on the property to feel private, the cabin was nice and clean, and had a good amount of housewares stocked. Ted and Connie were very kind and responsive. It is a little over an hour to Yosemite Valley but the drive in from both entrances was beautiful. I hope to visit and stay in one of their other properties!

Peaceful, cozy stay
This was such a great experience! We had recently soured on vacation rentals after staying in a few places that felt overpriced and then weren't even properly cleaned or stocked for our stay. This cabin was the opposite--the owner and staff were flexible and helpful, and the cabin was thoughtfully prepared with all the essentials for a great visit, including firewood and throw blankets to cozy up with. We loved watching the birds and toasting in front of the fire.

The getaway you need!
The log cabin is everything that you are looking for to get that nice quiet getaway! It was perfect for our family. Close to groceries, great local food and easy drive to Yosemite. The log cabin is also perfect to just stay inside, with a great space to play games, read your favorite book in front of the fireplace or catch up on some movies. Has everything you need, beds and bedding are comfortable and warm, and bonus was the hot tub so nice sitting outside under the stars! Easy check in and timely communication with any questions or anything we needed. Just what we needed and can’t wait to come back!

Dark night skies
The property is located under a dark night sky that is an astrophotographer’s dream. We spent several nights looking at the stars. The house is comfortable and the kitchen has everything needed to make home cooked meals. Bathrooms were clean and the showers worked well. It was very quiet at night and we slept very well. It’s about an hour’s driving time to Yosemite NP and about an hour and twenty minutes to return. I would recommend the log cabin if you want to be close enough to Yosemite and also have plenty of space to relax and explore the property.
