Unfortunately, our stay at the Hotel Niederreiter was a disappointment, the rooms being the main part that let the hotel down. They are not only outdated, but lacking in some very basic necessities, such as a coffeemaker or a water heater, toiletries such as body lotion, and even just an adequate number of outlets. To make matters worse, the beds did not make for a comfortable night's sleep, as they were covered in thick winter linens even though it was the middle of a hot summer.
The hotel also boasts a spa area, but we were disappointed in the cleanliness of the outdoor pool. Any outdoor pool will require a great deal more maintenance than an indoor pool, but the hotel seemed to have been neglecting it, as the water was teeming with insects. We opted instead for the indoor facilities, and although the day of the week meant evening spa-time hours would be extended, the sauna stopped heating up about an hour prior to official closing time. This was rather disappointing.
Breakfast was a very basic affair, with its highlight being the large array of loose-leaf teas available. However, after arriving to the breakfast room, it took a while for any staff to approach us and lead us to our seats, because the tables were apparently assigned to specific guests. Considering the hotel was nowhere near full, it would have been appreciated to pick our own seat. To make matters worse, we were charged again at checkout, although we had already paid online beforehand!
