We were travelling in a group and were looking to book multiple rooms and this hotel came up as a good option.
Here is, what I hope, is my balanced review:
PROS:
- Check-in was quick and easy, which was appreciated.
- Breakfast was basic but adequate. The breakfast area has a balcony running around it with tables, and it was nice to be able to soak up some sun over breakfast in the morning.
- There is a supermarket just around the corner if you need to pick up any incidentals.
CONS:
- The room wasn't big enough to swing a cat and was a bit like a prison cell. To be fair, it was an 'economy single' room and, presumably, standard rooms are more spacious. In any case, I could just about manage the room size since it was only for one night. More than one night and I would've likely lost my mind.
- Housekeeping leaves much to be desired. Not only did I find the previous guest's used towel hanging in the bathroom, but I also found a cigarette butt floating in the toilet. These are in no way acceptable, except perhaps in a youth hostel.
- The Old City is not walkable from the hotel, so if you don't have a car then you'll need to take taxis to and from. Beware of taxi drivers who charge whatever they want after midnight.
On balance, the hotel isn't a complete disaster but, because of the room size and housekeeping issues, I am not sure I can recommend it.
