Rainbow House: North Cascades Skagit River Retreat

Peace and tranquility at the gateway to North Cascades National Park—under two hours from Seattle! Spacious, cathedral-ceilinged wood construction in a rural paradise.

World-class fishing (or just watch the salmon run!) at the confluence of the Skagit and Cascade Rivers and top-rated hiking in the North Cascades, near many trailheads including spectacularly beautiful Cascade Pass and Hidden Lake/Lookout.

Chalet comfortably hosts two to six adults in two large bedrooms (master suite and loft) plus a sofa bed in the great room. An additional bunk bed nook for two persons each under 150 pounds (kids, assumedly) brings the total to eight.

Complete kitchen and laundry access, within walking distance of Marblemount for dining and shopping.

NEW for 2024: Air Conditioning! Level 2 EV Charger!

COMING SEPTEMBER 2024: A private self-sufficient unit at the back of the garage, for independent rental and lodging. 'Rainbow House Private Annex' hosts up to 4 adults and is isolated from the main house. Week in North Cascades
This cabin was the perfect spot to enjoy the North Cascades area from. Cabin was very well stocked with everything you would need to cook with, beds were comfortable and the downstairs shower was amazing. We were even lucky enough to get an amazing view of the Northern lights several nights.

This is a very nice place to stay when exploring the North Cascades. It very comfortably fits 4 to 5 adults and has a lot of thoughtful touches to make the stay comfortable and convenient. We appreciated the prompt communication and kind accommodations to our requests.

Quiet, clean, well-maintained property with a caring host. We were a large group visiting the Cascades, so we booked the Rainbow House and the Private Annex (see separate review) together. The Rainbow house is beautiful. Room to spread out but easy to spend time together. The kitchen is well stocked with all of the equipment needed to make family meals. It is close to good hiking trails It’s also an easy walk to town where we found good restaurants, a coffee house, and a small grocery store. Perfect!

Wonderful Experience
Rainbow House is in the perfect location for exploring North Cascades National Park. It is also the perfect location and place for a quiet and comfortable vacation. The description and instructions are thorough, the house had everything we needed, and is beautifully furnished and decorated. The grounds/yard are extremely well taken care of. Communication was outstanding! Thanks to the owners for their good care and providing a beautiful place!

Great Getaway
We enjoyed the rainbow house. It had comfortable beds, fans for all the bedrooms and nice kitchen appliances. Great location to North Cascades and close to restaurants in town. Good place for the entire family with plenty of room to spread out.

This is a wonderful place to stay to explore North Cascade National Park and surrounding areas such as Mt Baker. The home is spacious, comfortable, very clean and has many amenities to make your stay pleasant. The views are absolutely awesome!! The host is quick to answer any questions or concerns. Perfect Home Away from Home
It’s a good thing this wasn’t the first VRBO our family has ever rented because it would have set the bar so high no other place would ever compare. So clean and well maintained. Add in the beautiful and peaceful surroundings, I would recommend Rainbow House to anyone looking for a place to stay while visiting the North Cascades.

Wonderful house and location
We loved our stay! The location was perfect for us- close to the entrance to North Cascades National Park where we wanted to explore, and very close to the little town of Marblemount to grab dinner and conveniences. The cabin is in a beautiful setting, in the field surrounded by mountains. It had everything we needed, from a well stocked kitchen to plenty of space and thoughtful extras like provided dish soap, shampoo and body wash. Communication was smooth and prompt. Highly recommend!

Really lovely.
A lovely and comfortable house on equally lovely land. You couldn't ask for better access to great hiking. And after a day of hiking, it felt wonderful to unwind on the porches and to admire the landscape. If we had the time, we'd stay here for weeks instead of days.

Beautiful house close to North Cascades NP
This property is even better than the pictures. Being on the Marblemount side of the park (instead of Winthrop) it is quite tranquil and really close to the Newhalen visitor center (20 mins give or take). Marblemount has a couple of gas stations with mini-markets and a few restaurants, Concrete (about 20 mins) has more choices and a grocery market. Overall, excellent choice for enjoying the park.

Perfect stay
We had a perfect stay at Stephen's home. We used it as a base for hiking and relaxing in the Cascades. Stephen was super accommodating when we extended the length of our stay (we didn't want to leave!). Everything in the home worked well, and it was very clean. The setting is really nice in large field with cows and birds abound. We will definitely come back here for our next trip in the Cascades.

Rainbow House was a perfect home base for us as we took in all the beauty of North Cascades NP. Cabin is just what we wanted as we took off from NC to explore an area and National Park new to us. Our new favorite place . . .
We do a lot of regional getaways, and quickly decided that this is our favorite new destination in Washington. Rainbow House is cozy and exceedingly charming--completely comfortable! The location, surrounded by the beautiful foothills, was stunning. We always enjoy cooking on trips, and this kitchen was exceptionally well-equipped. And everything was very clean! We will definitely be back.

Closest to Cascades NP!
Our family of 6 loved our stay here! It was inspiringly beautiful and conveniently close to Cascades NP. Thankfully it wasn't too hot as without AC the four beds in the loft might have been a bit warm at night without AC. The only other feedback is that the water pressure was low (couldn't shower when dishwasher was running, etc.) but Steve was very responsive to us and he had great suggestions on what to do in the area. We definitely recommend staying here when you're in the area.

What a beautiful home!
What a beautiful home! The style and comfort it’s one of the best I have stayed in. Although it was rainy and gray while we were there we were extremely comfortable and enjoyed the views and area. The host was extremely responsive and accommodating. Would love to come back during a different time of year with friends. Had everything we needed for fixing meals and just relaxing.
