Everything you want from the UP
Great Host and accurate description of everything. Centrally located to Munising and Manistique. Even went a little farther and went to Black rocks in Marquette. You can unwind and decompress in the middle of the woods but still have WiFi to be able to do thing if needed. In the downtime my kids went fishing on with the provided kayaks and caught a few 3-4 Lb bass. They provide poles even though we brought or own. Another very nice commodity is they provided all the fire wood for the campfires, very dry and burnt so easily.. Would 100% recommend to anyone wanting a UP getaway. Ps the driveway adds to the feel, yes it’s long but it’s so worth it.

Unique Wilderness Experience in Michigan's Upper Peninsula !!!
My wife Linda and I stayed at Byers Lake Lodge June 27-July 6, 2024. From the time that we booked our stay we were in contact Sarah and Bob. They were very accommodating to any questions and concerns that we had. The lodge was very clean, comfortable and had pretty much all the elements needed to enjoy our vacation there. The location was the key to our level of enjoyment, it is quiet and isolated, we saw several different animals and species of birds We were mainly there to fish, hike, and relax. The fishing was quite good, we caught well over 40 largemouth bass, for someone reason we only caught a couple northern pike. The other folks who lived nearby stated that they had not caught many pike the last couple of years. As some of the other folks who have visited/stayed at Byers Lake Lodge have stated that the two track that leads to the rental is a little rough. It is almost a priority to have something of a vehicle with a higher ground clearance. Also be aware that you are in a Wilderness area there are going to be a higher level of insects, mosquitoes and biting flies. Good insect repellent is must, if you want to hike wear long pants/long sleeve shirts. The view from upper deck was great, you have a view of the entire lake. One evening just as it was getting dark a Barred Owl flew into a dead tree to the right of the deck. It called several times and then flew across the deck in silhouette.
