We had a great time! The cottage was well equipped in the kitchen and bathrooms as well as bedding and pillows for the bedrooms. The living room and deck were fabulous, overlooking the river. Wonderful place to stay!
Great place and location for fishing area trout rivers. We loved the house and having the Little Manistee River 20 feet from your deck is really fantastic.
Property was great. Very clean and had everything I needed. The best part was the location right on the Little Manistee with no visible neighbors. Great place for fishing and relaxation. Thanks!!
What a great property and owner. Everything was better than expected. Communication from booking to week of the stay was incredible. Very helpful on the local knowledge. We are already planning our next trip to stay at the property again. Thank you for everything, can't wait for next time.
Property was absolutely beautiful. From the shooting stars to the friendly kayakers that floated by everything was more than we expected. The host is such a wonderful person who assured that we were taken care of. Would definitely return to this property.
We really enjoyed out stay! was there for an annual Girls Trip and we Loved it. The water was perfect for tying down our Floats for the whole stay. The Firepit was used every night to have a fire and cook some food. and we really enjoyed also hanging on the deck watching the water. Saw a few people as they kayaked by, but that was all. it was very relaxing! recommend!
This place was amazing. It was in more of a secluded area than I originally realized. However, it was so lovey to be out in the woods given we are city people. We through a party for my sister that just involved siblings. It was great to bring together my family from all over and spend it in a calm quiet relaxing environment. I would absolutely suggest anyone going here if they are looking for a private get away!
A cabin in the woods, where time slows down. If looking to escape the fast paced everyday life and just get away from it all this is it. Cabin has everything you need with minimal wifi (just enough for communication) embrace it! Let time slip away and recharge yourself at this gem.
We had a great time here! The place was nice and clean. The kitchen was very new and equipped with cookware and everything you need on daily basis. We especially loved the two Bluetooth speakers they had as we forgot to bring ours. The communication was great, and Sarah responded super quickly. There was no service in the woods, but the host changed to faster internet for us when we asked for it, which is very much appreciated! Overall, it was definitely a very peaceful place to stay for a retreat!
Overall the experience was fabulous. We got lucky with the weather and the river was spectacular. Beautiful view between 10am-Noom when the sun comes over the entire area and River. The local woods to the Ranch made a wonderful environment for the kids to wander and explore. They found a nice little local spring about 40 yards from the ranch in the woods. The fishing was good and seeing the Salmon come through was a wonderful experience.. We will be coming back yearly from now on.
There is nothing more tranquil, than enjoying the sounds and sights of nature! The river located feet from the house, allowed for constant entertainment (swimming and tubing). Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Yard space for corn hole, fire pit overlooking the water, and a restful nights sleep. The house location allowed for easy access to the Pine and Manistee Rivers, as our main goal was to kayak the Pine River this year! Trail systems close by for Off roading adventure! Side by side rentals close by. Dunes an hour away. We were very happy with the home we chose, and look forward to returning next year!

Perfect Family Getaway
We stayed at the River Ranch for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. Sarah was quick to respond to emails and was super easy to work with. We booked this vacation home because we were looking for a place centrally located for our planned activities. We took a day trip to Silver Lake Sand Dunes, the guys played golf at Arcadia Bluffs and we also kayaked the Manistee River. All of these activities were 45-60 minutes from the house so it was perfect for us. While at the River Ranch, the kids enjoyed playing in the river and running around in the large yard. We loved sitting around the fire each night while enjoying the peace and quiet. The home has everything you need. Nice, comfortable beds and plenty of soft towels. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook a family meal. I can’t recommend this home enough!
We had a great weekend at the River Ranch. The house is pleasantly appointed - nice furnishings, comfortable beds, and a well stocked kitchen made it seem like home. The proximity to the river is incredible - right on a bend in a relatively secluded stretch - it was a joy to watch the river slide by from the comfort of the house or at various outdoor patios with comfortable chairs. Once we were there, we never left until it was time to go home! We will be back for sure.
Communication with the host was easy and expedient, with prompt and kind replies to our various silly questions. Wi-Fi worked fine, although we didn’t test its limits as the setting was far more captivating than what we might find on the internet.
All in all a clean and well appointed house, wonderfully secluded and peaceful location, and great host communication make this place a keeper! Thank you for sharing it!
I will admit, going into this trip we knew we had rented a home that was off the beaten path, and the host did make it clear in the check-in instructions that cell phone service was not good once we got off the main roads. Cell phone service and wifi were a bit dicey, but we all agreed that it was so nice to disconnect from everything and enjoy our time together as a family, enjoying the company of eachother.
The home was in fabulous shape and equipped with everything we needed for our stay. It was a breath of fresh air to see a Blu-Ray player hooked up to the TV, and a CD wallet with a wide variety of CD and DVD options! My 3 year old son even got to experience his first DVD with Shrek 2 - which we wound up watching a half dozen times!
We enjoyed a camp fire each night, and was able to cook all of our meals, and grill steaks and hot dogs on their charcoal grill. Cornhole was also provided by the host, which we also took advantage of!
As for recommendations, though they are minor I would recommend an easy entry point to the river for swimming, and although we were able to find the driveway, the orange tape placed on the tree near the road was still a little difficult to find, especially with the driveway being hidden behind a slight turn in the road. Other than that, I don't think there's anything I would change!
Thank you so much for letting us stay at your rental property!
My husband, my sixteen-month-old son, and I stayed at the River Ranch June 23-25. This was our first experience with a Vrbo property and we didn’t quite know what to expect. We had such an amazing time! The location was absolutely gorgeous, and the house was spotless with every single thing that we could have possibly needed! There was nothing better than waking up, sitting on the porch, and watching the Little Manistee River, which is about 15 ft away from the deck. It is a prime location! My husband tried to fish the river but didn't catch anything- he's just not that good at fishing! There were fish jumping, especially later in the evening. Inside the house, the beds are extremely comfortable, the cabin is stocked with everything you could need, and it just feels like home away from home. As a mother, my favorite thing was the fact that there was already a crib and a highchair in the cabin- this saved us enough space to bring my son's wagon, which he really seemed to enjoy being pulled around the property.
The best advice I have for travelers would be to save directions to the cabin on your phone ahead of time- there is absolutely zero signal for Verizon out here! We did this and had no problem finding the cabin at all. In addition, be sure to pack bug spray! We always travel with some but would be a good idea to make sure you have- it's a cabin in a forest on a river in Michigan :)
I know we will be making this a summerly tradition for many years to come!
This property is a great place to visit if you are in need of peace.
If your goal is to release your teenagers from video games ,and get in touch with nature, I recommend a few days here.
